That's for HER to decide.... What TF can't you get about women making their own decisions.....does someone tell YOU what your decisions should be?

    UNANSWERED QUESTIONS:

What rights does a fetus have?

Whose body is it if it isn't the woman's ?

I'll turn this around and ask you what rights a medical patient who cannot give their consent should have.

Apparently, I'm on ignore, but I've been following this discussion as it is very close to my heart. I had a cousin who was 21 when she became pregnant and was diagnosed with Lupus. She almost died and almost lost the pregnancy. The doctors told her that she should never have another child because it would probably kill her. Approx. seven years later, she became pregnant again and had to be put into a medically induced coma for the entire pregnancy. My aunt had to make all the decisions for her oldest girl and unborn grandchild. When the baby was big enough, they did a Cesarean because natural childbirth would have certainly ended my cousin's life. She passed before her baby was six months old. Sadly, next month will be a year since that beautiful baby girl passed away. She was 20 years old.

It breaks my heart that there are so many people on the planet that love to stand in judgment about other people's lives.
    • It is often clear that they have no practical experience or even exposure to REAL LIVE PEOPLE they are prejudging.
    • It is obvious they are ignorant of laws and rights and basic human decency.
    • It is obvious they do not want to hear anything other than their own thoughts.
    • It's clear they want to proclaim why they are right and everyone should bow to their way of thinking.
Then, there are those of us that have lived and/or witnessed the struggle, know the people behind the faces, understand the heart-wrenching pain of having to make such choices, end-of-life decisions and the magnitude of loss and grief.

I commend all of you involved for being the voices that so many want to not only control, but silence.

My condolences to you and your nearest and dearest on the losses of those you knew and loved.

You are absolutely correct that those that want to IMPOSE their "morality" do NOT understand or appreciate what it is like to have to make these difficult decisions.

The vast majority of women agonize over the decision to have an abortion and studies have established that the end result is that they all came to the conclusion that it was the right decision for them under their circumstances at that time of their lives.

And it was their PERSONAL and PRIVATE decision. No one else should IMPOSE their beliefs and/or morality on what is best for the women having to make that difficult decision now and in the future.

Hate to tell you, but that has no direct relevance to the topic of this discussion. We are talking about problems in the baby here, not the mother.

And the adult people we are talking about here who are in a coma are not pregnant.

Was your point simply to say that the family members (the ones who are still conscious) are the ones who should decide?

This was part of your original post...so my response IS "on topic".
In what way is my post NOT relevant to your newest circular/judgmental topic?

Well, I suppose what you brought up could be distantly related to what I brought up, but I was mainly talking about persons who the doctors have a choice between letting them die, and letting them live, knowing there could be life-long problems.
That didn't seem to be the case in your example.

I am trying to draw an analogy between abortion for the reason of the baby possibly turning out to be disabled, and euthanasia of adult patients for the same reason.
This is of course one of the overall arguments used in favor of abortion, especially later-term abortion.

I would have thought that would have been obvious.

There is no analogy....one is a fetus which has no rights and the other is a person with rights.
