You keep arguing there is a national election. I'm not going back and forth with you, anymore.

Re-read what I wrote. You are intentionally changing my words trying -- unsuccessfully -- to win the argument. The winner should be the candidate who receives the most votes.

I didn't think you'd back up your claims.
Does this mean you'll stop misrepresenting my views?

Last time. The US is a democratic republic. We elect representative who then vote for us. The presidency is different as there is no statewide EC. When candidates run for governor, the candidate who receives the most votes wins. It should be the same way for president.

And I do watch MSNBC. I have tried to watch prime time Fox News, but studies have shown that the more of it a person watches, the less informed the person becomes because prime time Fox News occurs in bizzarro world where Trump is an honest man and a strong leader which conflicts completely with the reality we witness here on planet Earth.

Refusals are different than outright lying.

Good. Then we agree. I guess I have absolutely no idea what you are arguing, then.

I assume a refusal would just be thrown out of the data set. Thoughts?

Fox News and the Open Mouth AM radio are awful and appeal to the worst instincts in people.
    Bang on.
Sharpton, IMO, does far more harm than good.

Good post. There isn't a single thing you wrote here that isn't a fair comment.

An assessment has to be made of refusals: do they bias the results?

Well you can assume refusals to answer are actually in the affirmative and put them in that column. I’ve never seen compelling evidence any of those who refuse to answer are not gun owners. Don’t know if anyone ever tried to figure it out.

Or you can throw them out and pretend they were never polled. What other option is there? Neither option is good. It seems like the more controversial this becomes, the less accurate polling data will be.

What do you think the Electoral College does? I holds the Presidential Election. It's the only national election we have.

The result depends on the question and how you ask it. "Do you think...?" often gets a different response than "Do you believe...?

I won't give you a script, but questions about guns could be prefaced by saying you won't be asking any question on whether or not the respondent owns, owned, or may own a gun, nor will any question suggest an answer to those questions.
You try to determine the views of those who refuse.

We vote for electors, not candidates. Those electors may or may not respect the choice of the voters (subject to laws in some states to force them to be "faithful").

I get it. You and others here like the EC because it allows candidates with less support to win elections. It is, in no sense, a democratic system since the will of the people is sometimes subverted.

they have to have more support to win the election

i’d write your state legislature and ensure your states electors around bound

Thank you. That's exactly what I meant. You said 'studies'. So what do you post? One "study" from "Business Insider", a known liberal organization. Look at that study you posted. It claims the second most knowledgeable people in the world get their news from the Daily Show!

Here's what Media Bias/Fact Check says about Business Insider:

There are nuances we haven't explored like a state legislature and governor of one party choosing electors of their party even though their party's candidate lost the popular vote, perhaps in a disputed election.
A classic "end justifies the means" argument where we set aside democracy in favor of a contrived solution.

I would vote for a state legislature or Gov that would make that the law.

Well there is a reason why that is, the Governor represent THE STATE and the President represents all the states/union/country..

Stop learning from news sources and start looking in BOOKS maybe ;)

I think you're overlooking what we might glean from the study not even done by Business Insider.

Are the people watching a single news source getting incomplete information? Are they watching a single source to confirm their bias? Are they low(er) information voters dumb enough to rely on a single source? Who are these folks?

Then why is Fox news singled out in these liberal-run studies as the least informative source?

I would say that because Fox is the only mainstream non-liberal entity that is the most informative source because it is the only source where you will hear the other side of the story.

So, despite Fox News' best effort to inform, Fox viewers are at least as clueless of MSNBC viewers.
