It is a big one you say. Rather it's a big nothing. Tax cheat? That is tin foil hat claim. I guess the high power accountants that do Trumps taxes and the IRS auditors that audit Trump's taxes are part of some conspiracy theory in your view?

I seriously doubt if the lib media has Trumps tax returns. This seems like a typical fake news story. The IRS takes a pretty dim view of employees improperly accessing employee tax returns and all access to returns is monitored and logged. Improper access results in criminal charges. The IRS has audit trails of any and all access to tax returns.

This article describes what I am talking about.
    https://www.wired.com/2008/05/five-irs-employ/

Any leaking of Trumps tax returns would result in a criminal investigation by TIGTA (Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration). If you see someone arrested for a leak of Trump's returns the New York Times allocations are likely true. If no one is arrested they New York Times claims are simply fake news.

First off, has this report even been verified yet? Second, what about Trump's total tax burden aside from income taxes? If he isn't earning an actual income and just having investments, that might explain it. Many rich people's incomes are far outweighed by their investment gains, and this comprises the vast majority of their tax burden.

I find it ironic that, as I post this, the two top threads on this forum are both about stories based on anonymous sources.

One thread, about trump nominating a SCOTUS J.U.D.G.E., wasn’t questioned by a single trumpster. And within days was proved to be true.

This one is the other, but because the trumpsters don’t like the content, they call it fake.

    Confirmation bias in action.

This isn’t anonymous sources, reporters say they have the returns. Their name is on the story.

but you aren't smart enough to know what is cheating. You don't even have that much information yet you have been ready to accuse from day one. You have no idea how much Trump paid in sales tax in a given year. (those are taxes you know) you don't know his depreciations on the many properties he owns. His lawyers do. IRS lawyers know. But you are the expert? Here's what I do know. You will always show a disdain for wealthy, successful Conservative Americans.

I have an idea how Trump got his wealth. I see his buildings, golf courses and developments all over. What I don't really know is how does a full time public servant of 47 years on a salary of less than $200,000 become a multi=millionaire, as well as his larger extended family??? Where's Hunter!

And they provide no documentation to back up their story. The story has already been debunked as fake news.

The NYT's article suggests that this is most likely the result of him getting tax credits for both the DC hotel (historic tax credits) and carrying forward losses related to his departure from the the Casino

It's not about jealousy but about fairness.

I am very much for a fixed flat tax, doesn't matter how low or high.

Not necessarily, from the sound of things he has been losing money every year for some time now. What one pays in taxes is based on how much money they are making each year, not on how much wealth they already have. I'm not saying there is or isn't fraud, but it is perfectly feasible he isn't paying much in taxes now days due to the money he has been losing

Whether or not fraud was committed it seems like another drop in the ocean. I can't imagine anything about trump's personal life will change his standing as president

This seems to be a consistent point at this Forum. For example...a guilty man admits their guilt, and instead of focusing on that, let's look at if he really is guilty because the proof may have been obtained illegally, and let's just pretend the admission did not happen. Who cares how they got the tax returns, on balance? What do you care about most? Exposing/protecting a POTUS who pays no tax, or how it was exposed that he paid no tax? Choose your poison. We are talking about the election of POTUS, not Belle of the Ball.

It really depends if Trump avoided or evaded tax. Jeff Bezos got a £129m tax rebate so there is clearly a problem with the tax system and Bezos has about 100 times more money than Trump.

The salient point in all of this, apart from the fact that trump is a tax dodger, is that he is such a bad businessman and lost so much money.
Now we know why he wouldn’t show his tax returns.
They reveal that he’s a tax cheat and a crap businessman.

If Joe Biden's tax returns are in order than my campaign strategy for him would be; release your tax returns! Now!.
Put more pressure on Trump to show who the tax avoider is.

(IMO Biden should have done it months ago, to show that he's the bigger man. Dismantle what's left of Trump's believability. Shouldn't be difficult.)

Trump said he would release his tax returns in 2016. It's been 4 years now. This is ridiculous. When are we going to hold candidates to their word?

Lol...complete nonsense. His tax returns were filed by him and gotten by the courts who had demanded to see them as part as of their investigations into the trump crime family.
He tried desperately to keep them hidden but his luck ran out.
    Now we know why.
