Good call Chuck. Glad someone in the NBA is making sense. Barkley with the classic Ghostbuster line.

Charles Barkley dismisses the ‘Defund the Police’ movement: ‘Who are black people supposed to call, Ghostbusters?’
In the days after it was announced that no officers would be indicted for Breonna Taylor’s death, several high-profile athletes, including LeBron James, Donovan Mitchell and Megan Rapinoe, have voiced criticisms after a Kentucky grand jury failed to recommend charges against Louisville police for the shooting death of the 26-year-old medical technician at her home.

And Shaq was right there to agree with Charles. And for that, the cancel culture have come for them.

He also pointed out Breanna's boyfriend shot at the cops.

I get the need for no-knock warrants. But there has to be accountability. If you burst into the wrong house unannounced(as it appears they were after it was revealed the only witness to testify that they announced themselves appears to have changed his story), and the occupants fire at you thinking they are under attack(a reasonable conclusion under the circumstances), you cannot then blame said occupants for shooting at police. They were going to put the boyfriend in jail for it, but luckily higher-ups intervened.

I don't know that any of what happened has anything to do with her and her boyfriend being black, but there needs to be accountability when things like this happen. Doesn't have to be a racist incident.

I do agree with Barkley's statements about the idiotic defund movement though. We need as many folks from all walks of life speaking up about the foolishness of kneejerk reactions like the defund movement. By all means, lets add mental health first responders too, but not at the expense of traditional police.

Her mom's grief was short lived, she bought a Bentley and an 800K home. Guess we all grieve in our way...

Thanks for proving my point. From your link:

"Walker said he fired a single warning shot from his Glock handgun at Taylor’s apartment because he thought intruders were breaking in. Police said they had identified themselves."

    So what?

    1) He "fired a single warning shot" at (what he thought were) "intruders".

    2) Thus, he DIDN'T "shoot at the cops" .

    ^Another ""talking point" utterly DEBUNKED.

Good for him and Shaq too. Anyone saying otherwise is either ill informed or malicious.

I just learned today that one school resource officer at our elementary school is forced to split his time between there and the adult services center, I'm sure defunding would really improve such things....

Does the school pay for the resource officer? That may be an issue with school funding, rather than police funding.

I wish someone would explain why America has armed guards (officers?) in schools. I mean, explain honestly.

The idea is utterly incomprehensible to me, and likely most people in this country. Even our worst schools don't need anything like 'security'. Kids aren't coming to school armed and dangerous. Bad behaviour here is smoking behind the sports shed, talking back to teachers, and not handing in homework. We get rare incidences of 'minor' violence, but it's not bad enough to warrant more authority than middle-aged female teachers :D
