Gangs in America have real guns. Their followers are always very young and they manage to get their hands on guns and instead of fist fighting in the back of the school (they way we did it in my native Ukraine), these cowards shoot each other.

Are you kidding me??? He PULLED THE TRIGGER at cops. It doesn't matter if it was pointed exactly at them, when things are moving fast you can't tell the difference between a warning shot and a shot meant to kill. Warning shots are not even allowed in the military, and I doubt they are in the police, because once a bullet flies, it's game on. A "warning shot" will be treated exactly as any other shooting at cops.
Besides, It is far more likely that the guy's aim just sucks. When adrenaline is pumping, especially with a handgun, bullets can be WAY off their mark if you do not apply the fundamentals of shooting.

So he fired a shot at the cops but he wasn't shooting at the cops?

Quite true AJ, quite true. You just debunked your own talking point in your very own post.

I mean, golly AJ - I can imagine the cops having a shot fired near them by the perp. "Oh, that guys just shot at us but no need to worry - AJ says he's not really firing AT us, boys!"

I keep begging you to make it a challenge - can't you try just once? Just ONCE?

Have you seen the firepower cartels pack?

Not to mention common street gangs.

There are roughly 10,000 MS-13 members in the US. You think they're out knocking over old ladies and snatching purses? This is a highly organized, effective, well armed and well funded military group.

A single police officer in a school known as a "school resource officer" has been going on since I was born, around 1979

Schools and police are both publicly funded.

It varies. Most systems split the salary of the officer between the PD and the school budgets though as opposed to one or the other footing the whole bill and getting reimbursed. Since a school day is often shorter than a police shift, it stands to reason the cop has to be somewhere else part of the day.

Put it this way, do you think defunding the police can possibly in any remotely, similar situation, improve it?

81% of African-Americans would like to see either an equal or larger presence of police in their communities, according to a Gallup poll. 81%. So Charles' outlook is obviously shared by the majority, he's just one of the very few that has the courage to say it. That is one thing I've always liked about him, his courage, even though he tends to rant off at times.
