    I think it's pretty clear old Sleepy Joe kicked Trump's A$$.
    At one point Biden said he didn't know which rant to respond to and Chris Wallace agreed.
    Trump seemed unable to defend his presidency so he could only pound on the table.
    Thoughts.

    It was a terrible debate by both participants. Dirty Donald had predetermined he was going to try to over talk everything Biden tried to say. And after a while Biden decided he was going to employ Double D's tactics. It was awful as Biden sank to his level. Both were losers.

    Trump seems to go in to the first debate slow, then once he's pissed its game on, stay tuned.. Besides it's never the first one that's remembered anyway, it the last one ;)

    I think BOTH candidates lost voters tonight. It was the saddest thing I’ve ever seen politically.

    It was poorly moderated

    Wallace should have closed Trump down more than he did. Wouldn’t it be nice if in future debates they shut off the mic of people who did that?

    Possibly, but it's sad that it would have to be considered. Two adult males running for the highest office in the country should be able to act like GENTLEMEN.

    That may be the only way to control Trump since obviously the agreement that he signed didn't work.

    I respectfully disagree. I think it's literally impossible not to respond to that kind of barrage in your ear. I think if you didn't chip back you would have looked like the polite deer-in-the-headlights republicans in the debates prior to 2016. Gobsmacked and terrified.

    You can't remain completely civilised when debating (live, in a room) a guy behaving like that. It just looks weird.

    some analysts were saying that that is why Hilary “lost” the debate war even though she won the fights. She remained calm and allowed Trump to dominate ergo he ultimately ended looking like a strong man who was a wild card that would challenge the establishment

    I think the world would back that one - especially if it were a choice between Wallace and Trump

    mind you at this point I would choose a sack of **** hanging is a tree over Trump

    A quick poll by CNN of debate watchers have it Biden 60, Trump 28.
    More Dems watched than Republicans. Best I can remember like 38 dem. 28 rep. 38 ind..

    In pure performance terms I'm giving Trump 55%, Biden 45%. This is Trump's domain for sure and he may well improve.

    Biden performed better than anticipated and if he csn just hold his ground and thus prove that he is not old or senile he will have passed the final test for being elected President.

    The American people are wise enough to know that working as President is far more nuanced than winning the "creatures from the swamp" debating competition.

    Great minds think alike on this. Problem will be to set up a scenario by which the moderator asks a question, turns on a mic, after two minutes he turns off that mic, asks a question and turns on a mic, will be seen as a 'change in the rules' that was not pre-negociated by the campaigns, Trump will adamantly refuse the change, so Biden has a tough choice to make, if he shows up he's stuck with this problem of Trump harassing, bullying and filibustering during his time. He can refuse to debate unless more is done but that has risks as well.
