I wrote this back on August 5th...

"Elite Progressives are the folks who fashion themselves after the Woodrow Wilson vision of the revival of the iron fist dominance of the antebellum slave owner class.
Includes both DNC-E and GOP-E politicians who are backed and funded by the Hedge Fund Lobby, Chamber of Commerce and other similar entities. They control the media and many of the bureaucratic agencies in DC.

Meanwhile, the Leftist Socialists are being used by the Progressive Elites like rented mules. ANTIFA and BLM will stop seeing bail money and legal defense funds about 20 minutes after the results of the election are confirmed.
Biden is giving lip service to their demands at a time when they have no actual candidate in the race and no guaranteed political power available to them after the election."

While I was not sure about the outcome, my expectations leaned for the Biden / Harris ticket to dump the Socialists after the election.

But alas, Biden pretty much threw the Socialists under the bus during the first debate.

Since the leftist loyal MSM won't discuss that part of the debate, as far as the typical party loyalist is concerned, it NEVER happened. I mean the moment Biden made that declaration last night you could HEAR mental filters snapping into place all across the leftist political spectrum. It . . . was . . . awesome. Also I could swear that I heard the pressure fractures occur as AOC and the rest of her radical posse clenched their teeth in rage when Biden said that.

Nah. It's all a bit of play acting. Biden is trying to get votes from normal people, and not a single "socialist" or "progressive" who planned to vote for Biden will change their vote.

Why bother we've already gone full socialist under Dirty Donald !!!Who hasn't been bailed out by taxpayers under his watch ?? And gthe worst is yet to come when rental forgiveness ends at year end and the paybacks are SUPPOSED to begin. The number of homeless will go out of site and bankruptcies will go through the roof, nothing Dirty Donald isn't used to.

Bernie acted like Biden sold the farm and was firmly on board with their agenda.

In reality, the last thing that the Globalists actually want is an agenda that messes with the return of their cash cow monopolies.

80% of Harris' presidential funding came from the hedge fund lobby and the lawyers' associations. They had a perfect phantom identity until Joe ran his mouth.

What Biden thinks, or wants is largely irrelevant. I think everyone, including the leftists, understand that in a real way, Biden is not going to be President. Biden himself said he's a transitional figure. Biden will be the figurehead while some variation of the DNC runs his administration. If you are a leftist, that's a pretty good deal.

    No surprise, Biden's a long, long-time politician.

Agreed. After their stunning lack of decency in NOT calling for an end to Antifa rioting, they cemented the public perception that they are a party of lawbreakers and America-haters. Maybe before as well. We could start a thread on why libs hate so many things and express love for so few. But it's clear they need to work on their image. Centrists are now wise to the party that hates.

So you blame Trump for homelessness and bankruptcies directly caused by COVID-19 affecting so many in the part-time and full-time workforce? How would Biden have prevented these two concerns had he been President 45 at the time the disease was first made public by the Chinese who created it?

Nope but they damn well do what they did for Hillary and stay home and pass the bong or go try to burn down some voting sites. Please note the far left in this country is not now nor has it ever been totally rational.

While I think that's the takeaway the Trump camp wants folks to have, I don't think the left actually sees it that way. And if they don't, it really doesn't matter what the right wants to project.

And lets be real here. progressives aren't going to see that, even if they think he did throw them under the bus, and be like "Damn that Biden, I'm voting for Trump".

I think it's safe to say that progressives are counted among those folks whose minds are pretty solidly made up already.

America is not the UK, we don't have a figurehead, a prime minister and a parliament. The structure of our government is clearly spelled out in the Constitution. It seems pretty clear that what you say is what they plan but that is unconstitutional. This would create a constitutional crisis on a grand scale. We are headed for some very dark times.

Granted, but in 2016 they stayed home fully assured by 24/7 news media that it was impossible for Trump to win. That's blown out of the water now.

We're discussing a candidate with diminished capacity and no real direction or goals of his own other than getting the title "President." Someone will be writing Biden speeches, and drafting Biden executive orders.

As you say this was just lip service, a little smoke and mirrors. AOC was a primary author of his 2020 platform and a chief contributor of the Biden-Sanders Task Force Recommendations. He maybe whispered in her ear, but did not throw her under the bus.

You could hear them? Or you really wanted to hear them?

I feel like this thread is a lot of wishful thinking. I mean without data, we will have to wait and see.

Ñope they stayed home because they hated Hillary and what she represents even worse than Trump. They tolerate Joe because he has a black VP and AOC vouches for but he dumped on two of the far left's shibboleths in the debate and those who are ready disinclined to trust establishment Dems like Biden are going to ask themselves the obvious question, "Is he lying to them or us?"

I take it that you think the left is going to sit out this one rather than vote for Biden? They may not like Biden but they despise Trump.

I just disagree with the entire premise of this thread, that the left feels burned by whatever Biden said during the debate and so therefore their vote is up in the air. Nope. They'll vote for Biden.

Not all no, but enough to matter yes. The problem for Joe is that there are simply very few people who find his leadership inspiring or charismatic. And the especially the later matters far more on the left than on the right. Much to the consternation of many on the left it is the party not of ideas but of groupies.

Well these groupies are united in their hatred of Trump, which makes voting for Biden an easy choice to make.

Many on the Left are very upset by the DP's rigged nomination process.
They are looking for an alternative.

The still thinking Left, as opposed to shallow opportunists like Harris, rejected The Clintons.
Biden is far more offensive to them.

"In the most heated exchange of the first Democratic debates, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) took Biden to task for his past opposition to busing as a way to desegregate public schools. As late as his 2007 autobiography, the former Delaware senator called busing desegregation programs a “liberal train wreck.” But numerous stories about Biden’s record on race have documented his opposition to the federal government’s racial integration efforts dating back to the 1970s and his fondness for Dixiecrat senators like James Eastland of Mississippi."

You seem to think that this stuff really matters to Democrats. I don't think it does. I think what's important is beating Trump, even if they don't like the stick they have available.
