It's an age old Republican tactic, very Rovian. Like GWB, who managed to get out of serving in Vietnam, so he smeared Kerry on the strength of his military service by digging up the Swiftboaters -- who magically disappeared right after the election. The same with Trump, he has skeletons in the closet with foreign business deals, and election meddling, so he accuses his opponent of the same thing. it is so transparent, in particular with the timing....

Just like Trump is guilty of lying on his financial disclosure form (again) as proven by his tax returns and the teams admission (and immediate downplay) of said account.

The issue is non disclosure. If you recall Trump references his government filing as an excuse when his tax returns come up. You know, hundreds of pages filed yadda yadda.
