'Staggering numbers': Early voting is breaking records in 2020

I swear, Te, you simply amaze me.... You and I are so much ALIKE in so many viewpoints that it astounds me that we are still poles-apart on some others.

I, too, made my best 'move' in real estate, ten years ago. I took a piece of property I owned about 30 miles northwest of Austin, Texas and made a KILLING with it. And, back when I was working in a big corp., I did very well with stock options I was given -- selling them at almost the very highest point they ever reached.

Now, retired, I too need to keep everything in balance and preserve my position (to borrow your phrase). And, yes, I'm beyond madder-than-holy-hell at the microscopic, piss-ant 1.3% increase in SS benefits, which come on top of 12 years of piss-ant increases, or, years during the Obama regime when there were NO increases at all!

Back on topic, I think that the 'staggering'-high numbers of people who have already voted have done so because everybody (EVERYBODY) is just so damned, strap-chewing MAD and FURIOUS at nearly EVERYTHING! We ALL feel this way by now, Left and Right, because we've been lied to, treated like sh!t by everyone and everything, and we're sick to death of watching this country slowly turn into a giant pile of CRAP.

And it's not like we have the luxury of roiling in our 'discontent' in a vacuum! NO -- and that's possibly the greatest danger of all. Our opponents in the world are watching us like a hungry pack of jackals, just at the periphery of our sickening spectacle, laughing at our stupidity, our CUPIDITY, our growing parasitism, and our abandonment of any pretense to further achievement of enduring superior accomplishment and success!

If you wan't to know my position, just ask. No reasonable person could extract that from my post. One example comes to mind. Here in So Cal, we had a terrorist couple commit murder with a legally purchased firearm. Even though they were already on the radar, and the gun store employee raised a red flag with law enforcement, none of the infringements on our rights made us any safer. Our laws simply provided them with easy victims.

BTW, I lived on a ranch at age 9. I had unrestricted access to firearms and frequently took them out to our private range. The only rule was that I had to reload the ammo I used.

well, that's what criminals WANT us to think. that way we will reduce gun laws so they can have better access to guns.

fact is most gun laws are designed to keep dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals and those who are not safe to possess them.

 

Cool. I'm happy to admit I misunderstood. I never try to put words in people's mouths. I'm a person who isn't here to win, as much as I am to learn; especially about different viewpoints. When you said below, I thought you meant requiring a permit was unacceptable, as it is how our rights get taken away, in dribbles.

Thats why we should never allow our rights to be taken away in nibbles. It starts with a permit, ands end with denying the permit.

 

Requiring a permit became unacceptable when they changed from "shall issue" to "may issue".

 

I think "most' gun laws are in place to give people a warm-n-fuzzy feeling that it will keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals.

 

Please clarify. I'm trying to understand. Are you for or against permits? If you are against permits, how do you keep them out of the hands of my short list; minors, blind people, sociopaths?

 

Shall issue permits give government the power to deny those not on your short list. In the end, every criminal that wants a gun has one already. Even minors get them. Where I live, they had to install metal detectors in schools.

BTW, blind people are not prohibited from owning guns.

I had no idea blind people could own a gun. That is counter-intuitive.

 

Disagree, Te. When it says you can 'bear arms' it means BEAR ARMS... and there's no stipulation about where the weapons are borne, or with what degree of visibility. Immaterial and irrelevant....

They have stood by and allowed concealed-carry laws for decades.

Even the SCOTUS that decided Heller and McDonald refused to take cases challenging concealed-carry and May Issue.

 

That's not what a vaccine does.

 

Anybody who doesn't have a CCP in the United States today is trusting to the mercy of an increasingly unpredictable, potentially very dangerous population in which too many people no longer have any regard for the law or the lives and rights of other citizens. Never be a law-breaking tyrant, but, never be a stupid, oblivious victim, either....

DEMANDING a government issued ID in order to exercise the RIGHT to VOTE while getting all bent out of shape about needing a government issued PERMIT in order to exercise the right to bear arms in public is outright HYPOCRISY of the highest order.

The problem is that WE set OURSELVES up for this FAILURE, Cy.

We are the architects of our current dire situation and, as with all self inflicted problems, only we have the power to change ourselves so as to STOP inflicting this upon ourselves.

We CANNOT deal with our problem until we STOP fighting each other.

We need to come to the realization that WE are ALL in this predicament TOGETHER!

UNITED we as a nation have achieved great things.

DIVIDED as we CURRENTLY are we are ENABLING ourselves to be EXPLOITED by the UNSCRUPULOUS.

So we MUST find Common Ground with each other. That is the ESSENTIAL first step towards REGAINING our self respect and then putting our SHAMBLES of a nation back in order.

This is NOT an easy challenge that we face but we have faced tougher problems than this before so we can deal with this one too.

The only question that each of us needs to answer is do we, as an individual, want to continue to be part of the problem or do we want to be part of the solution instead?

We cannot wait for EVERYONE to agree on this but those of us who already want to be part of the solution need to get together and start working on it.

Your hyperbole aside, along with your caps lock key being stuck, no one got 'bent out of shape', I stated fact. You may not like the fact, but it is regulation, and it is an infringement. Most people abide by it, but that doesn't mean it is a power of the government, granted by We, the People.

As to IDs to vote, it clarifies who the person is, and where they should be on the voter roles. The ID is not just for identification for voting, it is required for many other things, so trying to conflate voting and the Right To Bear Arms is absurd at best.

 

Can you clarify? Is there any restriction on fire arm ownership that you support?

 

Remember, the left is in a race, a race to get as many of their drones to vote early as soon as possible as the Hunter Biden scandal and Babbling Joes loss of sentience becomes obvious even to the left.

Do states rights allow for the regulation of abortion, for equal justice? Can a state created a 'separate but equal' system of law enforcement, education, etc. All a state can do is regulate to the limits of what the Constitution protects and that limit is today set by the courts.
