~ The free market will take care of new energy innovation - whatever it turns out to be. It may even be the petroleum industry itself that comes up with something.

Until we have suitable substitutes, we need oil and a lot of it. We subsidize industries when their products are necessities for the functioning of society.

We subsidize farmers too, so we can eat. When AOC (Biden's future Energy Commisioner?) decides to get rid of cow farts, should we wipe out farm subsidies because cow farts pollute?

    LOL

You can call it whatever you want. Just pointing out that the Biden anti-oil policy he put on blast last night could hurt him in places that don't produce a lot of oil.

Biden does not like having to speak to the rabble. He never has.
We can subsidize Americans to produce it or we can prop up and fight wars with foreign totalitarian criminal regimes that oppress and enslave their people to produce it.

Sometimes its better to shop local and pay more...

(oops, that was sposed to be two different posts...)

So "socialism" is good when you approve of how it is applied. Interesting

Currently oil is necessary. But we are making choices as to for how long and at what price.

There is no debate that oil is not a long term solution. Even YOU note that a transition to renewables is needed. and inevitable

Yep. When AOC launched the GND, the public was sticker-shocked at the Trillions of dollars cost, and said, "Nope. Too expensive. Not enough benefit."

And we are now learning that "trillions" is not the scary sounding word we thought it was

Biden often stays after an event ends to talk with people. You babble about rabble...

We don't import much oil these days, and we do need to cut back on the carbon...

The first thing I would ask Biden here is what are you going to do with the hundred plus thousand workers you're putting out of work..... I know he doesn't actually care cause they aren't all unionized... Biden is the throwback to stupid liberal most of us thought died out already.

    Yep.

Democrats want big government to tax and take over every major industry they can get their hands on.

Republicans want free markets in the private sectors to function naturally without government interference.

The oil guys actually did start to get involved in alternate energy, but they didn't like long term investing when they already had quick and dirty. So they dumped the alternatives.

    So that's a nonstarter.

Why not you explain? How do you suppose that the modern conveniences are going to be delivered when there is no longer an oil industry. Do you like your computer? do you like your sippy cups from starbucks? How about this, just admit that Joe's statement was entirely stupid? Why not just try apologizing for him?

There is nothing natural about markets, that's one of the goofier myths.

Almost as goofy as thinking capitalism works without "government interference".

If Trump wins re-election it shall be due to the presidential election cycle political standard . . . the economy. Or in other words, people already upset by months and months of the Left cynically pushing pandemic panic-porn and demanding an endless economic shut down are 'concerned' about both the local and national economy and are in no mood to take a chance on what they KNOW is a perpetually hostile to businesses Dem Party presidential platform.

People are not NOW interested in Climate Change politics and Green Energy boondoggles. They are interested in seeing the economy up and roaring forward like it was during the first three years of Trump's first term, and they KNOW that no Dem Party president can dublicate that economic feat. They know that the first thing a President Biden would do as a Democrat is place his foot on the neck of the recovering economy and presssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

We don't import because of the subsidies. Stop them and we'll need to start importing it more. We need oil and Americans won't drill it at slave wages.

The day we don't need to burn oil will be a great day and I fully support bringing that day about. But its not going to be soon.

Biden would have us back on our knees, begging OPEC/Middle Eastern countries to please provide affordable oil. Better if we don't need those countries for our own economic survival.

Survival of the fittest....it doesn't get any more natural than that.

Government is evil. The less we have of it the better.
