So are you suggesting that restaurants, gyms and beauty salons/nail salons just open back up to full capacity?

The hospitality industry needs to be shut down, but I am sure Trump, Inc., appreciates you special pleading for their bread and butter.

Absolutely. If you’re too scared to catch the virus, don’t go to those businesses. Stay home. But stop screwing with the rest of us.

Remember...we DID shut them down...and because of the Federal relief package, were able to provide loans and unemployment etc. to allow them to remain viable entities in most cases.

And now when we are facing a third wave of this virus...looking worse than the previous two...nothing from the Republicans

What happens when people see the virus sweep across the country again

Do you think they're going to be going to those businesses?

    Hell no.

There was a huge drop in dining out etc. in NY BEFORE the lockdown

Then those businesses will close on their own. But if they can stay open and enough people want to go to them, who are you to tell them not to? This is not a dictatorship by governors. Which you’re going to find out on november 3. Because Americans don’t like being told what to do.

I don't carry republican water. The hospitality industry needs to be shut down period. I don't care if it bankrupts them or not. I don't care if they get a welfare check that is a pretend loan or not. As long as people are freely traveling from city to city and having large events, it will keep spreading.

Right because nobody knew how deadly the virus is. Now we do. And the VAST majority of people will not die or even be affected by it.

The economic effect would just as bad either way...except that millions would die if we follow people like you...and Trump

Well hell bro, 2500 people die every day from heart disease. Let’s ban trans fats, sugar and carbs and force everyone to exercise an hour a day or be faced with a fine or jail time.

There’s tons of moronic stuff we can do like shutting down the economy to attempt to stave off thousands of deaths a day.

Hell we could make the max speed limit 25mph. You could still drive and get to work but we’d all but eliminate vehicle crash injuries. You know how many lives that would save?

He who is willing to sacrifice freedom for security will receive none and deserves neither.

In the immortal words of Steve Smith,” If you’re scared, get a dog and stay your ass at home”

No, I don't dispute that. However, the effect of the pandemic pales to the years of mismanagement by Democrat run cities and states.

And if people - in large numbers - are too scared to catch the virus and don't support those businesses, how long will they be open?

I haven't experienced any inconvenience by closed business in the last three or four months. I recognize the tough times the hospitality industry is experiencing, but beyond that, no major difference. Not enough, certainly, that I could make a meal out of complaining about a closed down state.

I like the idea, but unfortunately it has an insurmountable constitutional hurdle.

Then that is the will of the market. But if it’s not, artificially shutting them down or restricting capacity is a deathknell to hundreds of thousands of businesses. And the longer it goes the exponentially worse it will get.

So you don't dispute that the pandemic has devastated states and local government but you want to do nothing to mitigate that

I see...Mitch McConnell and Trump agree with you

Biden and Schumer and Pelosi don't.

And they WILL help out workers and businesses and state and local governments in the face of this disaster...if we make sure to give them the ability to do that...THIS election

Let’s assume for a moment that there was a state which was engaging in governmental actions that made the problem far worse than it should be. In your view I guess that would be opening back up or whatever the case may be. And then it DID make the problem worse. Should they be bailed out with taxpayer funds and allowed to continue their detrimental behavior?

the right doesn't care about the people\small businesses, they already got their mega deal for the rich, they happy

now if the housing market starts to tank from people not able to pay their mortgages, the right will be all over it, but people suffering, they don't care less, so guess we wait for the housing crisis, be cheaper to address this problem now

    That’s not a solution lol

Giving people $1,200 isn’t going to solve anything. That’s one months rent or mortgage AT BEST. How many more of these do you expect us to give out? Yalls side is talking about this going on for more than a YEAR.

The only legitimate longterm solution is to open up and people to go back to work. Period.

that is a start, something is better than nothing, and dems also want to extend unemployment benefits

hey, if the right wants the economy to crash, at least be honest about it

Trump has not updated his re-opening guidelines, so not sure what the right is complaining about, you not happy with the Trump re-opening guidelines?

3 phases of the Trump reopen guidelines

Trump says the Vaccine will be released before the election, so a stimulus would help people get by until that is distributed
