No they didn’t. We all lost. But let’s not pretend McConnell started this. He even told them on the floor that they would regret it and probably much sooner than they think.

Except it is not fact. Pretty much the opposite of it in fact. Until quite late in the day, roughly the collapse of the Italian campaign in North Africa, Jews served in Mussolini's government, getting rid of them was the price he had to pay to get Hitler to bail him out in North Africa. Further the always fractious and not infrequently murderous Italian communist party began the war against Mussolini shortly after the Mussolini intervened on the side of the Spanish Fascists. The worst part if the Spanish Civil war was that there wasn't some both sets if murdering *******s couldn't lose in which case the Spanish people would have in the end won out instead having to endure decades of misrule and assorted other garbage.

When someone asks a Supreme Court nominee. “Are you a white supremacist” of “have you ever sexually assaulted anyone”, it’s not difficult to make that kind of person look stupid.

I'm well aware of the basis for how the US Senate is filled, thanks.

My point is that not only does it not represent the people of the US, it fails to do so in a spectacular fashion.

So when any Senator talks about letting the people decide, then we can at least agree they are speaking from a false mandate due to the structure of the Senate.

    See my point now?

The Senate is not supposed to represent the people it's supposed to represent state rights..

For example georgia, tennessee and south Carolina has been fighting over the water rights in lake hartwell and the other lakes bordering those states

The state of washington (anti coal) has been fighting interstate commerce with Wyoming, North Dakota and the rest of the inland coal producing states for a port.

There was a time that this was true. Originally, senators were appointed by state legislatures to specifically represent state’s interests. I would like to see us return to that system.

Thr house of reps represents the people and the senate represents the states.

We should restore our system to the way it was designed. The 17th amendment should be repealed. As should the 16th amendment.

No I don't personally, you say the Senate fails to represent the people of the USA..once again the senators from Ohio represent the state of Ohio not the USA , senators from california represent the state of California not the USA..

I will never ever get if some on the left doesn't realize what is normal in their state say driving around with the confederate battle flag is frowned upon in another state .

We are a nation made up with 50 states and people have to respect that

    Get that?

Yeah you choose not to respect others values and rights. But you want to force your values onto others by majority rule. We don't work that way otherwise gay marriage would still be illegal, the people of california voted no, the supreme court of nine people interpreting the constitution said yes.

Why is it not surprising that the party that advocates for an age test for Life, is the same party that enforced a race test for Liberty, now wants a religious test for Supreme Court Appointments.

They also want Supreme Court justices who believe the US constitution is a “living and breathing” document which casts off that which leftists think is no longer relevant. They also support justices citing foreign law as a basis for a decision.

Those are dangerous positions to hold.

As it stands now, we have a minority forcing their values onto others.

This is the structure of the US federal government.

In the Senate, 51% of the US is represented by 18% of its members.

That means that 82% of the Senate represents less than half of the US population.

However, it is far worse than this.

The US has its very laws drafted by Corporate Lobbyists and the US government is easily the most effectively controlled Corporate government on Earth.

Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina have no appeal directly to the Senate over Lake Hartwell water rights.

Neither does Wyoming or North Dakota have an appeal to the Senate over coal transport to a port in Washington.

Both of these are a matter that likely will be decided in the first case by the Department of the Interior and in the second case by the Commerce Department.

In both cases, it is most likely that the courts will uphold a ruling that favors the most powerful Corporate interest in the case, not the States.

sc picks now only need 50 votes, so going forward they will always be a farce

when dems add seats, they will seat the new justices with 50 votes
