What makes you think I don't contribute to the nation?

    Agreed.

As Mr. Justice Brandeis pointed out a century ago, we can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we cannot have both.

Trump doesn't do anything except create chaos. The vaccine(s) is/are being developed by pharmaceutical companies that would do it exactly the same way irrespective of who is the POTUS.
If he really wants to avoid a lockdown, why isn't he asking people to do everything they can to prevent the spread of the virus instead of mocking people who play it safe? Is it that difficult to understand that the more obstacles you put in the way of the virus, the more difficult it is for it to disseminate?
All the Asian people have understood that and have been able to control it. Are American people dumber than them?

You do understand that the whole purpose of a vaccine is to provide herd immunity without everyone having to contract the disease right?

The whole purpose of a vaccine these days is to make a profit for the manufacturer. Combined with government provided immunity from liability, it's a sure bet.

You mis-understand my words. My point is everyone in this great country has the opportunity to become wealthy if that is their goal and they are willing to sacrifice and work towards that goal. They can do it without the government handing them money earned by someone else. I contribute -- I served honorably in the US Navy, paid income taxes all my adult life, paid real estate taxes and sales taxes all my adult life. Was a member of the Lions' Club to help the blind. I have never been arrested or placed in jail. I have been married to the one and only lady and raised a fine productive son who also contributes to our nation. If you are lazy, undisciplined, and poor, then expect to be poor all your life. It's saddens me to see the ignorance when anyone complains about some people being poor while complaining that others are wealthy and then calling for action on income inequality.

You are right, all parties are to blame in this, including we, the people. We are all acting stupidly around something that should be seen as a public health crisis we should be united to combat.

Jimmy Dore is another Progressive podcaster.

He thinks Bernie's warning that they will fight the Democrats is too late.

Dore says that Bernie sold out all the Socialists by endorsing Biden and telling the Far Left to vote Biden.

Dore says that Bernie got zero from the Biden campaign.

Bernie wanted to be Biden's Labor Secretary. Dore says he'll be completely locked out of the Biden administration because Biden isn't a Republican. lol

I agree with you in most of what you've said about the downsides of lockdowns, the downsides of closed schools, and I've posted accordingly.
There is a huge difference in realizing for example that up to about 8th grade children are not in huge danger and they suffer more with schools closed, for a large number of reasons - and doing stuff with the explicit intention of spreading the virus around - like the emphasis in reopening college sports (which apparently is another one of Atlas' "brilliant" ideas).
Doing a prudent opening with a number of precautions (which I listed one by one in one of my posts) for the sake of education and development and mental and physical health of children and teens and young adults is one thing. Doing it erratically with the goal of spreading the virus is something else, entirely.

And like I said, I'm not for lockdowns. This ship has sailed.

Now, your paragraph in blue, sorry but as an independent who abhors both parties, I don't see a lot of difference between what Democrats do and what Republicans do. They are all rotten. And no, the Republicans are NOT trying to make the country great again and representing the people's interests. They all have twisted motives, too. And sorry but I'm not impressed with the idea always advertised by each party, that if the other party wins the sky will fall. It's all partisan talk. The sky is still up there and won't fall.

We do have to preserve American Democracy, though. These days, the GOP is a bigger threat to the concept, than the Democratic Party. I do not like the lenient approach of the current GOP (or I should say, Trump's party) to white supremacists and to assorted dictators.

Of course I do. Are you under the impression that I'm saying anything different? Refer to my thread "The Status of Vaccines" pined to the top of the Coranavirus Discussion subforum and take a good guess regarding how much I know about this topic.

When I speak against herd immunity as advocated for the moronic quack known as Scott Atlas, it's the natural infection kind. When I say there is a better way, it's the vaccine kind. You clearly have no clue about my posting history (you're under no obligation to have noticed it, though) if you for a second entertain the idea that I don't know about it.

I am an independent too, former supporter of B.Clinton, Gore, Kerry... and for the life of me I can't even imagine how you've reached this conclusion.... Obama's FBI spying on a political campaign, 3 years of pure witch hunt, looking for a crime, any crime, not investigating one, bogus impeachment, 6 months of non-stop leftist riots supported by local democrat governments, forced indoctrination of the population about "systemic" racism, constant physical attacks on and dehumanization of Trump supporters ... and you think the country's problem is white supremacists (they are but they are tiny in comparison)?

The Dems are openly promising to rig the Supreme Court, rig the Senate and Presidency (by giving statehood to Puerto Rico and DC), remove the filibuster (the last vestige of the minority), the leftist media resorts to lies and don't even hide their bias, they officially practice censorship and suppress information in Pravda style and you think the GOP is a bigger threat to our democracy?

Well, I guess you see what you see, I see what I see :)

Yep, we need to be more like the old Soviet Union where the ruling class had 90% of the wealth and 10% had a choice of graciously sharing the rest or taking a bullet.

That is more or less EXACTLY what the Republicans have done to America NOW!

Yeah, one would think Pelosi would be sponsoring a hundred trillion in relief money, free everything until the election.

Absolutely. For years after I graduated H.S. in my area you could start a job in the morning, quit at morning break, and find another one shortly after lunch. LOTS of good paying manufacturing jobs with good benefits; now nothing but low paying, no benefit service jobs. Plenty of blame to go around for BOTH parties!

I vote cats and dogs. While they can present a lockstep front during elections and opposing Republican bills when it comes to running things on their own the long knives come out.

Most of the stocks owned by the 99% are in 401K accounts held by banks. This doesn't say anything other than 401K's have become more popular over the years. Fake statistics.

While I dislike political parties I can suggest that you shouldn't blame them. You should blame globalism which put American workers in competition with foreign ones.
