As if we didn’t have enough, with the armies of GOP lawyers running around trying to create chaos in the election and try to keep votes from being counted!

The election was already chaotic enough, thanks to Trump’s behavior and the efforts to erode people’s faith in the election.

Now, comes the last minute dark money. Thanks to Citizen’s United, this new flood of pop up pacs doesn’t have to reveal who’s doing the talking or writing the checks.

In the final 20 days before an election, candidates for office are required to disclose to the Federal Election Commission within 48 hours if they take in a donation of more than $1,000. Pop-up PACs, however, don’t have to, and there are several dozen of them that have sprung up around the country in 2020.

So any money they take in after Oct. 15 of this year doesn’t have to be revealed until the next legal disclosure deadline, which isn’t until mid-November.

“When you see people setting PACs up at this point in the cycle, it usually means they’re up to shenanigans,” said Brett Kappel, a campaign finance expert at the Washington, D.C., law firm Harmon Curran.

Case in point: the Truth Still Matters PAC based in Tampa, Fla., that’s trying to attack Cunningham in the last days of the Senate race in North Carolina.

It was formed on Oct. 19 and has doled out more than $100,000 to media firms based in Virginia and Utah to create and publicize a website that solicits allegations about extramarital affairs tied to Cunningham, North Carolina’s Democratic Senate nominee.“

And this isn’t unique. This is where you find the dirty tricksters. But you won’t find out who they really are until after the election.

First the leftwing extremists are convinced the only ballots which might be lost are Democrat ballots, and now they think PAC money only goes to Republicans. Cute. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Democrats can/do use PACs also. (And Republican ballots are just as likely to be lost/late as Democrat ballots.)

Or, we could reform the astoundingly corrupt system financed by secret money that keeps guys that run scam pacs like this in work and money.

You apparantly approve of this swampy behavior (after all, the deepest swamp is the one this White House created).

And since you can’t deny that this is what the Trump campaign and the GOP are doing, you endorse it by saying anyone can play the sleezy game.

Ironically, the last part of your post is the most accurate and telling.

Since polls consistantly show that the people asking for absentee or mail in ballots are Democrats, the effort to lose ballot boxes (or in California, to set up fake ones) is all a GOP effort.

And since Trump told his minions to only vote on election day, he’s almost certainly well behind among votes received.

So GOP tricks to stop votes from being counted may well wind up hurting down ballot GOP candidates if the Trump White House continues to go to court to try and keep votes from being counted.

And since 10 Republican Senators are defending their seats (and nearly half of them are already close to losing), they aren’t going to see any percentage in helping Trump along in that effort.

After all, what has Trump ever done for them?

I'll remember that every time Moveon.org sends an illegal text solicitation to me via SMS. I'll remember that when the Bloomberg folks send me threatening mail to tell me how they are grading my voting habits, and those of my neighbors. Of course, you support them, right? I didn't see you focus on the democratic themed ones. Why is that?

FYI, one can block them and two you can put your phone on the do-not-call list so that if they do it again you can report them to the FTC.

Sure can. And have. My phones are already on the do not call list. Why I referred to them as illegal solicitations. I also forward the numbers to the spam function my cell provider provides to report them with. Not much you can do about the mail stuff from Bloomberg though, except to report them to the FEC which I think is mostly a black hole these days.
