    It's not inevitable.

You mean they actually had to obey the law?

No, you test people that appear healthy so you can quarantine them before they spread the disease. That's standard pandemic protocol.

That wouldn't work. We have seen a number of different approaches to controlling the disease. You don't need to re-invent the wheel.

Sure it is. When NZ opens up (what's left of it) Covid infections will go up.

That's not standard protocol. What you want is for the virus to spread among those at very low risk. The age groups and preconditions are very well known. What should be doing is opening up the economy and schools. Those in the high risk groups should act as if everyone they come into contact with has the virus and any institution (like nursing homes and assisted care facilities) should also be taking extreme precautions to avoid infections. That absolutely will work as can be seen around the world right now. Lockdowns are in no way standard procedure.

Because they jumped on it so quickly, and effectively, the economic damage is lessened.

They are buying time until vaccines show up. Face it, they are doing a great job and we really suck.

"WHO Interim Protocol: Rapid operations to contain the initial emergence of pandemic influenza October 2007 3 The protocol describes the key activities in the Containment and Buffer Zones. Major emphasis within the Containment Zone will be placed on: ƒuse of antiviral drugs for treatment and prophylaxis ƒmovement restrictions in and out of the Containment Zone ƒuse of additional non-pharmaceutical interventions."
    https://www.who.int/influenza/resources/documents/RapidContProtOct15.pdf

It wouldn't work, esp. in a country like ours that has serious problems with playing by the rules.

The WHO is now against lockdowns.

    You call a 12% contraction good ??

It will and is absolutely working in Sweden and the US. Daily fatality rates are declining in the US. In Sweden the daily fatalities have stabilized at very low numbers since July.

No they don't. The actual data show they do not and may actually increase the spread:

The Scandinavian Countries show that to be false

Norway, Finland, and Denmark all locked down and suffered the same or less economic damage as Sweden which did not lock down...and all of those countries had a fraction of the infection and death compared to Sweden

I'm trying to visualize what life would be like if we only had 2,000 deaths instead of 250,000.
    I think I'll take the 2,000.

Assuming your claim that the "death rate is dropping" from "Herd Immunity" or whatever (its not), our new USA phase of a number of states afe at or exceeding their hospital medical infrastructure, and triage is imminent or being applied. (The worst areas are less dense populations and somehate Republican, btw).

Several of the plans require reducing or possibly eliminating medical care and supplies for the most affected, which make the rates soar.

Of course, many of triag deaths may be in conditions out of specifically COVID diseases.

In fact, that death triag probably has been used in the USA already. The First World countries with universal medical care (which is all except the USA) includes everyone. The USA does not

New Zealand closed travel before many infected people were able to get in. That’s why their fatalities are so low.

I would hope so. Otherwise we went thru the whole thing for nothing.
But it's like Vegas, once the money is on your side of the table it's your money and right now we are losing again...

I'm trying to visualize what life would be like if Agenda 201 had not been brought upon us by our Overlords.

I'm trying to visualize what life would be like if the sorry damn PCR tests actually worked. They are the cornerstone of the scam.

Trump did that in January against the advice of all medical experts.

As usual the progressive left fails to acknowledge the responsibility of the Chinese Communist Party who banned internal travel from Wuhan but did nothing to restrict international travel from Wuhan.

It must be lonely when the whole world is against you.
The PCR tests are almost as pure as Ivory soap.

PCR tests are able to accurately detect infection in around 60-75% of symptomatic individuals. In pre or asymptomamatic individuals they are essentially worthless for detecting infections.

Yes. PCR testing undercounts actual infections severely. Probably by somewhere between 40-50% (outside of hospitalized cases).

A lot depends on what percentage of people tested are symptomatic. Or if it’s a mass testing of a population.
