.....”Salazar, who defeated Rep. Donna Shalala in South Florida, and Gimenez, who beat incumbent Democrat Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, said they're in talks with other first-year Republicans to help diversify the coalition and think about ways to influence policy. The incoming GOP class will be one of the most diverse in history, introducing the first Asian American Republicans elected in a decade, and congressman-elect Burgess Owens to be the second black Republican to serve in the House next year.

“We’re going to be a force to reckoned with,” Salazar said.”

This is great news! All these new diverse GOP members elect are going to be great in their new role. Most of them or their immediate families have come from socialist nations and have reason to oppose that crap happening here too. Asian American, African American, and Hispanic American and female Caucasian American from the old Soviet Union. Total diversity!

The Freedom Force will be a great counter to the squad. Having this diverse group of Republican congresspersons up front and center opposing the squad and far left policy will be great. It will be hard for the msm to hide all these women and minority conservatives from the public when they are the face of our opposition to big government. Socialism sucks!

Be nice to have some faces to the names, some time. Congratulations on the move towards a more diverse GOP.

Good luck to them. I hope the party doesn't simply use the mas window dressing.

"and female Caucasian American from the old Soviet Union."

Damn, we have immigrants from Chechnya? Which one is that?

I couldn't care less about "diversity" merely for the sake of "diversity", but if they're going to promote policies for the good of America then I'm all for it. But if they were old white guys promoting policies for the good of America I'd be fine with that too. I don't give a crap about identity politics or "diversity" for the sake of "diversity" ---- but I love my country and anyone willing to fight for it!

When you announce your “Squad” before you know who’s in it, window dressing is the clear objective!

Dude, that still only adds up to only 35 Republican women out of nearly 200 Republican seats. And only 1 Black Republican in the Senate out of 50 seats. Hell, Democrats had higher numbers of minority seats 30 years ago.

Basically, Republicans have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

    Yea?

And since Boehner and Ryan are no longer there to quell any conservative movement, it might get legs. The jury is still out on McCarthy; I'd be happy if Jim Jordon was in charge.

There’s too many of them for that and their views are in the mainstream of the party.

Trump? FFS. This happened despite Trump. Trump lost. I know the urge to praise the leader is strong, but let's keep it within sensible bounds.

Not from there but from Ukraine. Her name is Victoria Spartz of Indiana, who grew up in the Soviet Union before Ukraine became an independent nation.

One of its leaders from New York City whose mother fled Castros Cuba announced she was going to create a GOP squad to counter the also from NYC AOC and her squad on election night. This is the result of that.

So, the GOP has no new ideas. They gotta copy. Good luck with that.

These things work differently with far-left and far-right constituents. The two sides have little if anything in common. Trying to copy your political polar opposite rarely works out well.

Let me put some cold water on this. How many women want to be in public office? How many African-Americans want to be in public office? Then there's the character assassination on Republicans(because that's what it is, at least be honest about it.) then you've got criminal records, etc other disqualifiers to consider.

All-in all, Republicans have an uphill battle to "look" like the Democratic Party. And looking like the Democratic Party accomplishes nothing in the way of actual policy, as Libby said.

Exactly. I don't see this RNC version of the squad materializing. It's just not a good fit for them.

I like them both. McCarthy is largely responsible for recruiting these successful candidates and for turning an expected loss of 10 or more seats to a gain of that instead, a roughly 25 seat swing from expectations going in. Keeping the speakership in California after we take back the house in 2022 will be a bitter pill for democrats to take.

The Democrats have plenty of minorities and women who want to be in politics. Republicans just don't back minority candidates in lower local elections, so
they have few candidates for the higher offices - and that was decision on their part.

Lol. Republicans focus on the RESUME for the candidate. The Democrats focus on the skin color. Affirmative Action is by definition, racist. Who backed that?

No one should get a job based on the color of their skin. It should be decided by their resume in the field. I had an E4 come to me saying she never got orders to go on the last deployment (inside the US deployment) because she's black.

She didn't receive a part in the mission because she failed her PT tests twice in a row and is on the brink of being chaptered out of the Army.

Should I have given her the job because she's black? Or give the job to someone who can actually do it without looking at their skin color?

I don't think it's that simple. You also have districts, whether they're likely to win or not, etc. Since the GOP has the character assassination stigma, they generally fall behind in fund raising(especially after Trump's mismanagement of the funds.) So they have to be more selective, and in that regard, this is a "positive" step forward for those who care about the window dressing(I agree with Tom that it's window dressing)

Because window dressing is a "function" of the times we live in, which is absolutely pathetic. No Thomas Jefferson's coming from here sir. I wonder if as a country we ever realized or started to be concerned that we haven't produced anything resembling greatness in decades, literally decades.

Many of these congress persons elect came from failed socialist nations and openly ran on an anti squad platform. These members will be the face of the opposition as the growing squad pushes the democrats further left. Our squad will be polar opposites of theirs.
