Fascinating. For years, Bernie Saunders was the ONLY person in Congress I know who identified himself as a "democratic socialist". According to the dastardly Wiki-leaks, there are currently 124 people who identify with the Democratic Socialists of America, which incidently is NOT a registered political party. That number includes senators & House of Rep members (state and federal), city councils and various local offices. The vast majority obtaining office in since 2000, and only 13 former members serving prior to that.
That's it for the entire 50 states of America.

In the last 40 years, the Republican Party held sway in our government for 24 years...during that time "reaganomics" (supported by major corporations and the military/industrial complex) damn near put us in a second Depression...Clinton gave some breathing room, while Obama dug us out, with Trump riding his coat tails.

Given the Tea Party driven GOP's demonstrated penchant for obstructionism (with corporate complicity) under Obama, along with a right wing idealogue SCOTUS, I hardly see this "communist utopian" of yours coming about. Oh, and for the record true communist DO NOT like socialist democrats....nor is socialism a precursor to communism (no more than capitalism a precursor to fascism). Just ask folk in th UK or some of the nordic countries.

Some of the definitions of "faith" is to believe in something without question, having a strong conviction. Scientist do that with the "scientific method", which you've defined. Essentially, they discount verbal history or accounts of any culture or people because they either haven't seen/experienced it for themselves, but are sure the "scientific method" will provide a solid conclusion. Case in point: the Chinese have successfully used acupuncture and herbal medicines for damn near a millenia, but it was rejected as viable medical practice in America for decades....to this day Western medicine doesn't fully understand it and hamstring most non-American practitioners. Until the 1970's, when Western doctors witnessed certain surgeries in China being done without traditional anesthesia. Only recently do some insurance companies recognize it, and you have some Western doctors traveling East to study for incorporation in their home practice.

The basis for acupuncture is the Chinese "religious" beliefs. As far as I know, it's the only direct link of a faith being proven to work in the corporeal world.

You have some religions and some parts of the scientific community neglecting free will, no doubt. They just hate to admit it.

And to keep on target, the OP to date has NOT been disproved in its assertion.

NOTE: I respond only because for some strange reason your response to my post registered, which it shouldn't as I have you on IA. A web site glitch no doubt.

Fortunately, I can think. There are a couple of things Obama did I didn't like (okaying more off shore drilling, more nuke power plant construction, locking up investigative reporters and whistle blowers, for starters). But he did some good....like stopping the death spiral of our economy courtesy of the Shrub and giving health care coverage to thousands of hard working Americans who didn't have it. Those are for starters. If you want a list, I can get that for you.

Please do. Giving Health Care to thousands? Guess that's why we still had millions with out it. Don't you think your responsible to get your own health care coverage? I hope your not expecting me to pay it for you. I have my own family to take care of. Biden wants to open the borders and let in who ever and give them health care and welfare and jobs. I guess he thinks like you.

As long as policy is prevented from being colour blind, blacks are being treated differently.

Yes. Racists and (so called) "Anti Racists" still have not been able to explain why and in what way race is of any significance to an individual's existence and why race should not only and solely serve as a descriptive tool and nothing more than that.

Individuals are often mistreated and prejudged according to their race. We should be mindful of that and conbat it. Everyone has experienced being prejudged on some characteristic and to some degree, be it race, gender, or even being a red head or left handed. We should all be able to agree it sucks and guard against doing it to others and protecting others from it.

It is vital that racism, the category and prejudgment itself is the focus, and not the particular race. We need to encourage empathy and not tribalism. We need to highlight how the act to this individual was unfair, and not generalize it to his race or demonize the race the wrongdoer happens to be seen as.

Yes, of course. The problem is that those on The Left claim racism is to be combated by emphasising race and if you claim race does not matter, you are a racist. The Right embraces the same premise and says race matters too.

The way out is to advocate the insignificance of race because, as you said, it is just as foolish to group individuals based on race as it is to group them according to their "handedness".

It is just as foolish to be "proud of your race" because it is not something you chose or had anything to do with and, again, just as ridiculous as being "proud of being left handed".

    Word.

The idea that race matters is really foreign to me and I cannot think of anything more evil.

To the (so called) "Anti Racists" it is a tragedy if a majority of janitors happen to be Black and that is just as demonising and racist as when White Nationalists claim there is differences in IQ between racial groups.

The real answer to anything of that sort is "Who cares?"

Sure, you notice how people look, but that does not mean that you care or think it really matters.

They've always been treated differently, and we've already tried ignoring the problem..

I didn't say to ignore the problem. The problem is racism. Confusing racism with race is part of that problem.

We make good steady progress in the fight against racism when the emphasis is put on judging people by the content of their character rather than by the colour of their skin; seeing people as people and race as irrelevant; putting emphasis on bringing us together rather than dividing us by race. Push for not a white America and black America, but a United States of America (or whatever country you are from). Yes, you can.

We've seen progress. The KKK went from having power to being an organization society hates as much as Nazis. Elections went from a black man not being allowed to vote, to a black man being sworn in as President of the USA. We did that, and we need to do more of that, by being ever more inclusive and pushing that we are on the same team, not by demanding we split and stay on racial teams.

Taking on an agenda to segregate and advance the rights of any particular race, rather than to see to it that we are treated the same regardless of race, is racist. "Separate but Equal" doesn't work, whether we are talking about separate water fountains for white and "coloured people", or separate "safe spaces" for "people of colour".

Identity politics wasn't invented by black people. This is true. And it wasn't invented by white people alive today either. None of us alive today invented it, but we can all stand against it. That means standing against racial discrimination and racial agendas, regardless of their intent. Most of the "woke" left are well intentioned, I do understand that. But in pushing politics of racial identity, instead of pushing against racial discrimination, they feed directly into the mentality that race matters, which is the same mentality white racists push.

It is no coincidence that we are seeing a rise in white nationalism and white supremacist groups as the woke push harder and harder for identity politics. Some white people are convinced by the woke that race matters, and that there is a race war, but then they decide they need to win it for their team.

And that will for always remain the case as long as people agree race is relevant. Which it is not.

No one is saying the problem should be ignored, but only that it should be addressed differently and properly. The modern day strategy to combat racism is to keep emphasising race and keep categorising individuals based on their skin colour. Since that is the very definition of racism, it can of course not beat racism - One does not fight racism with racism.

I personally believe in what MLK said about the content of a person's character. That is the only way to beat racism and that is the American way.

These days, "Anti Racists" call you racist for saying you are colour-blind. That is very upside-down and very perverse.

It will stay relevant, as long as the conditions that make it relevant, remain.

    There are no such conditions.

Of course it is a fact of reality that there are people of different colour, but the point is to disregard that fact as relevant to life. If you fall in love with a woman who happens to be Black, it is not because she happens to be Black that you love her.

If your premise is that race matters, you are racist. All forms of collectivism are evil, but out of all forms, racism is the most barbaric and primitive form. There is nothing that is inherent to a person's skin tone and there is no one who chooses their skin tone which is why any form of emphasis on "race" is disgusting.

Advocating "diversity" is racism too because it places race in the centre of attention. One Hispanic gardener is fine, but if 51% of gardeners happen to be Hispanic it is, all of a sudden, a problem. "Racial Realists" as well as "Anti Racists" are in full agreement on this and that is why racism just won't go away.

And the conditions that make it relevant will remain so long as you insist on it being relevant, so it seems you are caught in a never ending circle. There is only one way out of it so far as I can tell, and that's what I described above.

When a far higher percentage of people who are race X are Z, than who are Y are Z, it is worth noting. It is a red flag. It may be an indicator of some sort of unjust bias in the system. But that's all it is. It isn't a diagnostic in and of itself. It may be that there is a bigot doing the Z-making, or it could be a correlation based on something entirely different. Leaping immediately to the bigot conclusion is the error that many "anti-racists" make.

Yes, but as long as there is free choice in the society in question, it does not really matter. If a majority of basketball players happen to be Black and majorit of Chemists Asians, who cares?

It is uninteristing as long as there is no stupid, racist law or lottery in society that hands out professions according to race.

Yes. If you classify people solely based on their "memberships" in those categories it is indeed evil.

That looks a lot like babbling.

Feel free to prove me wrong.

For those unfamiliar with antique paranoia, that's Red Scare talk from the 1950s when people were scared sh*tless.

No. The one babbling here is you since you display a great lack of understanding for what collectivism actually means.

Work titles are not a form of collectivism and neither is family, marriage and group activities. Your examples are just ridiculous and really mean nothing when an individual is to be judged.

Since there was not really much a point or argument made in neither this post nor the previous there really is nothing more I can say since there is zero to comment on. I will add, however, that I cannot believe that people are reacting with such hostility to calls for judging people based on their character rather than superficial traits and/or job titles and leisure interests.

    Very bizarre.
