For 3 months in Victoria, Australia, you couldn't leave the house unless you were going to work, exercise or supermarket. All had to be within a 5 km radius. Masks worn outside house at all times

It was tough, but now the active cases are 0, schools are open, and with some restrictions normal life has returned. I just had a holiday with family in a nice country town. With all due respect I don't think any of you Americans get it.

Just letting you know, protests NEVER spread the virus unless it’s conservatives. Democrats and the MSM told us so:) Same with dining or visiting salons. If you are on the Left and especially an elected Democrat, you’re immune. It’s fact I tells ya!!

It certainly is these days! I doubt Jimmy Carter would have acted that way.

Jimmy Carter was a good person even if he was a bad President. I don't think he'd fit in with today's Democrat party at all. Actually I don't think he'd make it in politics today at all, he'd be too nice and would be crushed.

Are you guys allowing visitors from China into your country? How about the two countries China blamed for the virus, Italy and India?

Question: if a person decides to ignore the mayor's restrictions and go for a walk, isn't that a form of protest?

The day that it becomes illegal to take a step in public is the day that we can no longer claim to be a free people. You do not get to decide what I do with my own life and tell me that I'm wrong for leaving my home. Anyone who wants to unjustly restrict my natural born rights is not someone I'm going to obey. Give me liberty or give me death.

Australia is not open for international tourism. We don't have a particular grudge against those countries.

There are a lot of people moving out of California and very little moving in. This is what democratic insanity does to a state.

They have to maintain the flow of illegals pouring into the state and make sure they get counted in the census or they'll be in danger of losing congressional seats.

Well, the thing is, I'd applaud these kinda restrictions as trying to save his constituents if it weren't for a couple things. First off is that sunlight, more importantly UV rays, tend to kill off the buggers fairly quickly as I understand it so walking outside, especially in sunlight, is likely a GOOD thing so long as you social distance and wear a mask. I actually have a UV lamp in my classroom for disinfecting pencils and the like. Not entirely sure how effective it is, but it'd not as if I paid for it, so what the heck.

But where I have a problem with these restrictions - well, more accurately where I think it's less about saving constituents and more about politics is the little caveats they threw in. We saw this in NY, church functions were prohibited, but protesting is okay? Funerals are prohibited, but marching is okay? I don't see how that can be justified - you're either all-in for safety, or all-out. As a politician, you can't say that restaurants will be hot-beds of spreading the virus but protesting is fine. The takeaway from it is that they're really pandering - or more likely caving in to whatever people who they support want. Which okay, politicians do that - but then you can't turn around and say you really care about safety at all unless there's some kinda scientific proof that Burn Loot and Malice protests and protestors are magically unable to be superspreaders.

I think California saw that and said uh okay, we'll make an exception for church functions too in order to look fair, even though there's no way he wanted to actually do that. Nah. I say let churches AND protests be banned. Let's see how serious California is about safety. I guarantee the mostly conservative churchgoers will grumble but obey the rules while the mostly liberal BLM people will go nuts and burn down more Targets. Heck, we can't even get Newsom to follow his own Wuhan-19 guidelines and they want everyone else to comply?

I didn't say he was doing a good job of it, but I'm not going to question his motivation...

That's where we disagree - I DO question his motivations. Actually, I question the motivations of ANY politician and I'm surprised you're not.

We used to have a poster here whose sig was "I support capital punishment. Everybody in the Capital must be punished."

His motivations should be seriously questioned. He needs to explain why there are different rules for different people.

I don't understand - I thought Covid was going to disappear from the news after the election.

Because it was a planned event with Agenda 21, we won't know for sure until after Biden is crowned.

curfews have existed in times of emergencies for years and years, Trump has declared this a national emergency

Trump even declared himself a wartime President against this invisible enemy and declared us all soldiers in the fight, of course that was before he threw up the white flag

but yes, I am against banning walking if not walking in huge crowds, as long a social distancing, who cares

It's not a national emergency, it is a planned event with fear-mongering and mass hysteria.

    Conspiracy theory kook.

Physician and comedian Zubin Damania wrote in his commentary: "Don't waste your time watching it. Don't waste your time sharing it. Don't waste your time talking about it. I can’t believe I'm wasting my time doing this. But I just want to stop getting messages about it."
