In keeping with the ancient pagan and Christian traditions, we always celebrate the Season with our favorite food and drink.

Today I'll be smoking the turkey for our Christmas feast and making a big pot of Glühwein...

Later this afternoon I'll be opening up a case of ale that I home-brewed for the Holidays four months ago. It's an amber ale similar to the Märzenbiers that are the centerpiece of the Oktoberfest celebrations in Bavaria, and since it's my wife's favorite beer I made a point of brewing it for the Christmas festivities. A couple nights ago I sampled one of the 12 oz. test bottles and it came out fantastic. I'm looking forward to cracking open the first of the big 22 oz. bottles this evening...:alcoholic:

So, it seems that no one knows which of the Ten Commandments the wise men were observing when they appeared before baby Jesus bearing gifts. I suppose that should be expected because no one really reads the fairy tale. They just get their religion from silly Hollywood movies.

Ditto! Märzenbiers! That should be a double decoction lager, you brewed it as an ale? My first blush is that it would turn out tasting like a Märzen lite? Still delicious Im sure?

    Happy holidays!

    Good guess but you missed.

The wise men (notice they are called wise) saw the Jesus baby as God incarnate before anyone else. So, when they appeared before him they were following the 4th Commandment which says that none shall appear before God empty handed.

    Exodus 34:20 =https://classic.biblegateway.com/verse/en/Exodus 34:20

ALL of the biblical stories illustrate one or more of the real Ten Commandments found in Exodus 34:11-28. The miracles are based on Exodus 34:10. If a person does not know what the real Ten Commandments are he will never fully understand the point of the stories. The stories themselves may not make logical sense, but that is not their true purpose. Their true purpose is to get the listener or reader to determine which of the Ten Commandments the story is about.

Good one. For a minute there, I thought you were serious. The fourth commandment is to remember the Sabbath day and to keep it holy.

It would be great if you read your favorite ancient Middle Eastern ethnocentric Jewish religious fairy tale instead of watching fake Hollywood movies about it.

Here is a set of easy exercises for you, if you are not afraid of learning the truth.

Get a notepad and pen. Start reading Exodus chapter 19 and continue all the way through Exodus chapter 34. Make notes in your own words about what you read every few verses.

Or you can watch several videos that explain it =

As you read the fairy tale and summarize what you have written in your own words, you will see that the commandments in Exodus chapter 20 were verbal, they were not written on stone tablets nor were the called the Ten Commandments. The only commandments written on stone tablets and called the Ten Commandments are those in Exodus 34:11-28. https://classic.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=exodus34:11-28&version=ERV;CEV;KJV;NKJV;NLT

It is necessary to know what the real Ten Commandments because ALL of the biblical stories illustrate one or more of the Ten Commandments. If a person does not realize that, then none of the stories will make sense. So I urge you to take some time, read Exodus chapter 19 through Exodus chapter 34, summarize what you read every few verses in your own words, and watch the two videos.

First post and atheists were bashed: ""As for all the atheists out there, I wish you a Happy Bah Humbug. Try not to be a Grinch.""

Do Atheists love and have consciences, forgive this and that trespass from time to time and cover sin in others with the cloak of mercy seeing worth beyond or in spite of that which is unacceptable in another, feel sorrow or compassion for others, give to the poor or one in need every once in a while, reserve judgment, bear lifes burdens with an eye towards hope or a dawn of sorts, and slow to anger, see themselves in others and seek perfection? If all or part of this is true, then how is it different than loving God with all your heart, and your fellow man as yourself?Atheists respond please?

Like ALL people, some do and some don't. Why shouldn't they?

It's different because atheists don't believe in a "god" or "gods"...

THEY don't NEED to to """love and have consciences, forgive this and that trespass from time to time and cover sin in others with the cloak of mercy seeing worth beyond or in spite of that which is unacceptable in another, feel sorrow or compassion for others, give to the poor or one in need every once in a while, reserve judgment, bear lifes burdens with an eye towards hope or a dawn of sorts, and slow to anger, see themselves in others and seek perfection""

Are Atheist really Atheists or simply antithetical to deceit and false teachers who give God and religion a bad name? If Godly attributes are in us, then why aren't they in a fullness in God. Are these attributes inherent in our creatures when the attributes are more of spirit than body? Why aren't we endowed by God with a smattering of quality, rather than, with our shortcomings, the imaginers of a perfect God? That we are here and God is not is proof of our creation. That we are endowed with Godly attributes is proof of our Godly endowments. So we are created and endowed.
