"It allows the vice president, together with a "majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide", to declare the president "unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office" in a written declaration."

Obviously, none of the members of this cabinet have the will to stand up to Donnie Dictator. But it's never been so obvious they should.

Start with the level of detachment from reality required to persist in the unfounded, delusional, conspiratorial belief the election was stolen. The danger of the prez not being able to accept objective reality can not be under stated. Followed by the dual acts of sedition, contemplating the declaration of martial law.........and seeking to overturn the result of a national presidential election by corrupt means.........both being attempts to unconstitutionally hold on to power.

Add to that the refusal to sign the bills passed by Congress to fund the national defense as well as the one to give badly needed economic relief to millions of people effected by the pandemic.

Has narcissism crossed the line in to psychosis? If there is any doubt this mentally deficient fraud, a danger to the country, needs to be removed from power ASAP.

Toomey: Trump Will Be Remembered For ‘Erratic Behavior’ If He Doesn’t Sign COVID Relief Bill

Sen. Pat Roomey (R-GA) on Sunday sternly warned President Trump that his legacy is on the line after the sitting president turned on a COVID relief bill that passed Congress in the waning weeks of his presidency.

During an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” Toomey expressed his dismay over Trump’s refusal to sign the COVID relief bill. The lack of Trump’s signature on the bill that had been considered a done deal caused unemployment benefits for millions of Americans to lapse overnight as the country reels from the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed more than 330,000 Americans thus far.

“You don’t get everything you want, even if you’re president of the United States,” Toomey said. “I think the COVID relief measures are really, really important.”

@Lee Atwater, in fairness, I don't get the impression that history will remember him fondly regardless of what he does relative to the bill. He has burned that bridge and continues to pour gasoline on it.

ETA: I also don't get the impression that Pence will do anything other than fully support the POTUS. It would take a miracle for him to move off that post.

Trump's destructive potential to the GOP will be at its full potential as of January 21st.

He will undermine any effort by the party to move away from his destructive ideology.

And a candidate publicly supported by Trump has no chance of beating Biden in 2024.

The 25th Amendment requires Pence's cooperation. Unfortunately Pence is so far up Trump's rectum that it will never happen. One would think that members of Congress and the VP are intelligent enough to understand the incredible damage being done by a clearly demented pathological narcissist and understand what this excuse for a human being is all about. But there you have it, it's not even about die hard loyalty to a party, it's about die hard loyalty to a psycho. And for added measure, over 70 million voters want 4 more years of this insanity.

In a weird way, I get it. It's very hard, psychologically, to admit that one has been bamboozled. It's why con artist get away with their awful behavior. Their victims are too embarrassed to come forward. Also, given the choice between the monster you know versus the other monster (and many see Biden that way), it's easier to stick with the one you already know. It does nothing to help the country or the party, but it makes sense from their point of view.

Imagine calling for premature removal from office after a failed impeachment effort and a contested election result month one before Trump's term limit expires.

If it's over and he has no constitutional avenue to retain office, then why bother? Inauguration is next month.

That may be a factor with some of these phony state actors but it's difficult to imagine it's true with all these Trump sycophants. There is an ulterior motive the others have, they can't all be that stupid or that much in denial.

He's fighting to get people more money which is very popular and let me ask you this, if this bill is so great why doesn't congress simply take a vote and override the veto?

Is it because enough in congress agree with the president and they can't override it?

And we are talking democrats here.

You folks make up the most ridiculous crap to whine about.

Because, as we are now witnessing, tremendous damage can be done right up until the last day Trump retains power. And because no prez should be allowed to exercise power for an hour if he/she is mentally incapacitated as Trump clearly is.

If this was a genuine effort on his part absent selfish motivations why did he allow negotiations to go on for so long with the belief by participants that Mnuchin was speaking for him?

It's possible. I have a family member with the exact same power over people. She does NOTHING that is not self-serving. She's manipulative and charismatic and can convince people to do just about anything (even illegal things). She is complete devoid of any sense of right and wrong (it's only "right" when it's in her favor and "wrong" when it's not, which rarely happens). People fall over themselves to do her bidding constantly. It's terrifying to witness. I honestly wouldn't believe it about Trump's followers if I did not have a real live narcissistic sociopath in my family tree.

    I doubt if he did.

He has always been adamant about giving people more money but the president isn't part of negotiations. I'm sure the republicans were fully aware of a Trump veto but are hoping they can strong arm it through.

It's really up to the democrats at this point. They grudgingly signed off on the bill but now that Trump is taking the heat it looks like they are going to support him.

I think Trump did fantastic as 600 dollars is really just laughable. Hell, it's our money anyways and people need to pay rent.

He did. That is manifestly self-evident.

“We’ve been assured that the president would sign the bill, and I have no reason to believe that Secretary Mnuchin didn’t believe that,” Sen. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), a member of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s leadership team, told reporters on Thursday.

I never heard he wanted a small stimulus for the people.

    Do you have that quote?

    It was obviously a joke.

But if you must, No, it’s never okay, but a women’s beauty can be persuasive on the big screen and in real life. The evil female villains in movies and TV were often quite persuasive and yes sexy. Think Catwomen, some of the Bond girls etc.

I never heard him say, until after the bill was passed, he would veto it without $2K checks for people. Why didn't he let Mnuchin know? Why did he stay on the sidelines playing golf and not let his intentions be known?

    I know. ;-)

I was trying to figure out why the POTUS would get away with it. I know he thinks all women are attracted to him but I wonder how many would find him physically attractive to the point in overlooking his horrible personality disorders.
