Sure, if Trump had told the mob to go home and write to their state and national representatives urging them to look in to (virtually non-existent) voter fraud (which was not proven in 60 court cases) instead of going to the capital the incident there would not have happened. 5 people would not be dead. Impeachment would not once again be on the table. However, from the beginning, it is right wing media........by reinforcing his lies and not rejecting his bigotry.........that bares the burden of culpability for the proximate cause. That being a entire narrative based on fabrications and distortions of the truth. When Trump is off the national stage the apparatus that put him there will remain. It will still have the capacity to convince a large portion of its audience in almost any lie it chooses. As I write this it is hard at work promoting new lies to replace the old ones. The lie that BLM members are responsible for the Capital riot. That Parler in just a vehicle for free speech. That social media platforms that have banned Trump are violating his 1st Amendment rights. These media outlets, Faux, OAN, Newsmax, Sinclair, Breitbart, and hundreds of others are in a battle with each other to keep conservatives coming back for more. Forcing the lies to be a little more outrageous, and thus demonstrably false. Trump is a clear and present danger to the country until he is removed from office. The clear and present danger that created and sustained him isn't going anywhere.
I agree. I heard on PBS News hour that the Trump fever finally broke. It didn't. It took a break for a couple of days, until RW news media told Trump supporters that none of what happened on Wednesday was really Trump's or their fault, it was all the fault of the Dems, the left, BLM, Antifa, the media, i.e. insert anyone else who is on the RW hate list. Now, everything is good again in RW world and the insanity can continue.
Ted Cruz and Josh Hawley are now experiencing reputational damage due to their duplicity over the election. Why did they promote the voter fraud lie? Because they wanted to ingratiate themselves with Trump's base. How did the base come to accept the lie? Trump............and right wing media.
The election fraud insanity............or the next insanity to follow. The point being to keep conservatives infotained with garbage and keep them coming back for more.
Life is one big reality show. Too bad Trumpers signed on for the alternate reality. These goons thought they'd be celebrities getting their pictures taken. Well, they were right about the celebrity, but it's on the wrong side of the law. Things are certainly changing, and Trump and his goons will be hung out to dry, as the world moves on.

There will be no Trump TV. Maybe from Moscow, but not this country. I think Trump will be behind bars anyway, but no network is gonna risk Trump programming. Not now.
Which would give it twice the charm, there is nothing more seducing that a secret media that have to cast from abroad.
