Sorry but republicans cannot be trusted to ever hold power again. So in response to the armed insurrection inspired by trump and GOP members the Democrats must immediately move to add DC as a state then PR. This will give our side 4 additional Democratic senators. Maybe even explore adding Guam. Whatever it takes to ensure a permanent majority in senate.

Sorry, trusting politicians reveals gullibility on your part, not trustworthiness on theirs. Party makes no difference.

Neither side is worthy of power. They all abuse, neglect in their own way.

Trump took it to another level, but being the lesser of 2 evils is still bad

DC and PR already comply with all the requirements. The only part still pending is the approval by Congress.

BTW, another branch of power in which Republicans still hold power is in SCOTUS. I don't want Democrats to take over SCOTUS. I just want more independent justices. Three is not enough.

The court must also be expanded.

Republicans cannot be allowed to control the senate. Democrats are needed as a check on right wing extremism.

I disagree. Let's show some goodwill, although I realize that, most likely, it will not be reciprocated. Let's show them that we are better than those political games, and that we can win with better ideas and people, instead of changing the rules.

No it doesn't. It sounds to me you want one party rule with no opposition at all. It seems you're advocating in different words and means exactly what Trump tried to do with violence and lies. So what left for us independents? A choice between a right wing dictatorship or a left wing dictatorship.

We tried that, multiple times it simply does not work. They throw it back in our faces and go ahead changing the rules to suit their agenda. Prime example the sham supreme court nomination. its time Democrats do as they do but do it better. So that means killing the filibuster, adding liberal friendly states, expanding and restructuring the circuit courts, expanding the supreme court, Repeal the house apportionment act, pass the most comprehensive voting right acts ever, and of course outlaw gerrymandering.

DC is far too tiny to need statehood.

Sure Democrats want this, and if they would vote only Republicans, perhaps we also would.

But the seat of Government is not a state. It does not merit thinking of such a tiny area as a state.

PR has problems of it's own. Many in PR do not want any part of being a State. Guam I do not know about.

Frankly the things done by Democrats over a long time leads them to being dictators. They operate this nations schools, our media and now many of the firms they love to hate so much. A Democrat CEO dopes not mind super high taxes since those do not cost him a thing. His paycheck often simply increases.

Listen to why Democrats want DC for a State. To mass even more power. To strangle this nation.

If a party tells you they will shoot you, do you actually buy them guns? Democrats are not doing this for fun nor even for the people in DC nor in PR nor for Guam. They do it to promote only Democrats.

My thesis for a long time is that Democrats are actually authoritarians and by far not liberals.

It is true I advocate Democrats entrenching themselves as a permanent senate majority. however that does not in anyway mean I want one party control. Republicans may even get the house or presidency at some point. Just the Democratic Senate will there to check their power, especially for judicial appointments.

Technically DC is bigger than Wyoming, Idaho and MT. Why do those three empty states get 6 senators? Sorry but fair is fair. the capital can be two blocks long and the rest the new state of Douglas.

I wish you had read Americas 30 year war.

    https://www.c-span.org/video/?110676-1/americas-30-years-war-winning

The Hungarian-born historian and concert pianist shows how every time America moves away from its founding principles it moves in the direction where a fantasy of "social justice" is pursued through ever-greater government control.

DC originally was laid out 10 miles per side. And designated the seat of our national Government. As it now is, it operates by only Democrats rulers. Since the Potomac River bisects the original layout, today DC is only 68.34 mi²

What do we do next? Make the city of San Francisco a state?

We can do this all day long. Make Republicans held cities states as well.

*shrugs* Your side should have thought of that before attempting an armed insurrection.

DC has more population than Wyoming and Vermont. States are people. Not landmass.

Well you must understand paranoia given it is the fodder used by Democrats for every Republican to hold office.

Trump did this for all of us.
    For the environment.
    https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/210114-Final-Accomplishments-Document.pdf

OVERVIEW Over the past four years, the Trump Administration has taken a practical, balanced approach to improving our environment while also promoting economic and job growth. Under President Trump’s leadership, Federal agencies have focused on achieving real results that improve the lives of Americans in every community. This Administration has taken a broad range of actions to support a cleaner environment, advance conservation and environmental stewardship, improve air and water quality, and strengthen our Nation’s infrastructure, while lifting up working families and supporting American prosperity. This record of accomplishments is summarized below, followed by a compilation of environment-related legislation, executive orders, presidential memoranda, proclamations, and messages. CONSERVATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP Championing Conservation: During his Administration, President Trump has championed and signed historic conservation legislation. On August 4, 2020, he signed H.R. 1957, the “Great American Outdoors Act,” into law, the largest public lands investment in history. This legislation, advocated for by the President, included $9.5 billion in new funding to maintain our national parks, forests, and associated lands and provides for permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund. On March 12, 2019, President Trump also signed S. 47, the “John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act,” (“Dingell Act”) into law, which was the largest public lands legislation in nearly a decade, designating 1.3 million new acres of wilderness; supporting land and water conservation; establishing a research, development, and testing program to better monitor and respond to wildfires; and expanding access for recreational hunting and fishing on Federal lands. During the Trump Administration, the Department of the Interior has prioritized increasing recreational opportunities, and 49 trails have been added to the National Recreational Trails System, spanning 1,645 miles, and hunting and fishing opportunities have been expanded across more than 2.3 million acres at 138 national wildlife refuges and nine national fish hatcheries. Improving Forest Management to Reduce Wildfire Risks: No President has advocated more strongly for improving forest management to reduce wildfire risk. On November 20, 2018, President Trump urged Congressional action to improve forest management and help prevent wildfires, and on December 20, 2018, he signed H.R. 2, the “Agriculture Improvement Act,” into law, which includes provisions to expedite forest management, including providing for the U.S. Forest Service to develop categorical exclusions to reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires. On December 21, 2018, President Trump also issued Executive Order (E.O.) 13855, “Promoting Active Management of America’s Forests, Rangelands, and Other Federal Lands to Improve Conditions and Reduce Wildfire Risk,” to improve wildland fire management, protect habitats and communities, reduce physical infrastructure risk, and promote effective decision making. Since 2017, the Department of the Interior has reduced wildfire risk across 5.4 million acres of Interior-managed land, an increase of 49 percent over the previous administration, while the U.S. Department of Agriculture has improved forest conditions and reduced wildfire risk on over 2.65 million acres in 2020 alone, removing hazardous fuels like dead and downed trees, and combating disease and insect, and invasive species infestations.

That is not proper to look at states as x population. States would look a lot different if population was how it works. NY State and CA would each be dozens of states. Florida would be at least half a dozen states.

States are not people, they represent boundaries. Is our border with Canada people?
