Let me remind you of one thing. The only reason we have Kavanaugh and Barrett on the SCOTUS is a while back ex-senate majority leader, senator Harry Reid first used the nuclear option, thus setting the precedence for all McConnell and company to follow. without Reid's first use, it would have required 60 votes for cloture, thus there would have been no Kavanaugh and no Barrett. You have Reid and Schumer to thank for those two.

As for D.C. and Puerto Rico statehood. I'm against statehood for a city. I think D.C. ought to become part of Maryland from which it came giving the people all the benefits of being part of that state. Returning the Maryland portion of D.C. to Maryland would give Maryland another representative and give the folks of D.C. their proper representation. There is a precedence for this. The D.C.'s Virginia side of the Potomac was returned to Virginia in March of 1847. So returning the Northern portion back to Maryland is very feasible and returning a portion of D.C. back to the state which originally gave it has been done before.

As for Puerto Rico, if in an honest and fair election, the people of Puerto Rico vote for statehood, I don't have a problem with it. I'd say welcome. Guam and if Guam, you'd also have to consider the Virgin Islands, they're not ready.

I think the Senate will block any attempt to create a state out of a small city. You may think you have the support of all Democrats. I think that idea is false. PR has not in my view even wanted Statehood. Guam I do not know about. Should we also make Japan a state?

Senate was not designed that way. The House (theoretically) was. Stacking the Senate is not the answer. Both parties need to start putting people first vs the manipulation, lying and #1 focus of having power that they care about. If one side starts to do that, they will gain a large control

Stacking the senate is the only way, as it stand the senate is undemocratic and allows for constant minority rule.

 

Decisions should be based on what is for the best for the country, not what is best for a party.
