Why am I not surprised? Are the Russkies smelling a business opportunity, or are they more interested to offer a platform to radicalized Americans to foment division in the US now they the chief divider is gone.

Parler partially reappears with support from Russian technology firm
    https://www.reuters.com/article/usa...rt-from-russian-technology-firm-idUSL1N2JT1S7

Jan 18 (Reuters) - Parler, a social media website and app popular with the American far right, has partially returned online with the help of a Russian-owned technology company.

Parler vanished from the internet when dropped by Amazon Inc’s hosting arm and other partners for poor moderation after its users called for violence and posted videos glorifying the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

On Monday, Parler’s website was reachable again, though only with a message from its chief executive saying he was working to restore functionality.

American CEO oligarchs acting as totalitarian apparatchiks for The State, squashing political opposition in America.

Russian businesses offering free market capitalism and competition to small business crushed by U.S. tyrants, allowing the continued functioning of free speech for Americans.

Who'd have seen this day coming? Welcome to 2021!

US Corporations don't have political opposition, but naturally they squash corporate competition if they can. That is the nature of free market economies.

Trusting Russians and thinking they are doing this in name of capitalism is foolish. They want unrest, division and even civil war in US, and what's better than getting American extremists carry their water for them. All they have to do is give them a platform + some propaganda / conspiracy theories from Moscow troll farms to rile up the gullible. Its already working. Look around, and you'll see how Trump loyalists are calling US capitalism "tyranny". Respect for private property rights is a thing if the past.

Is this the same totalitarian Russia where you only get to vote for one Guy.
Is this what you had in mind for Trump?

What is the matter with you guys?

You're always saying that the Moral Majority are being starved for their own voice. Here's your chance. Found one and moderate it correctly.

    Billions await.

The world really needs America back to normal democracy. With both Russia and China moving nearer to total control of their populations.
They are interfering with the democratic processes in other countries, hacking their systems and other dirty tricks, trying to cause conflict and economic damage.
Many think Covid came form China, but cannot explain why the Chinese would release a Virus for which they had no vaccine, but what if China was working on a Virus AND a Vaccine, but the Virus escaped before they had completed the Vaccine?
Why would they do this? To release the Virus and hold the world to ransom for the Vaccine.
Would they do this? Without a doubt.
And it would explain how China managed to get a vaccine faster than the rest of the world, but have kept it to themselves.
Not normally a fan of conspiracy theories...

To give them what they demand we should have either :

    1. Government owned and operated platform (socialism)
    2. Use the strong arm of the law to force private companies to bow down to government demands (socialism light)

Sometimes I wonder if they understand what they are asking for.

As for the new Parler host:

"DDoS-Guard has worked with other racist, rightist and conspiracy sites that have been used by mass murderers to share messages, including 8kun. It has also supported Russian government sites."

8kun is 8chan. They renamed themselves

    About 8kun/chan

"The site has been linked to white supremacism, neo-Nazism, the alt-right, racism and antisemitism, hate crimes, and multiple mass shootings. The site was known for hosting child pornography;as a result, it was filtered out from Google Search. Several of the site's boards played an active role in the Gamergate controversy, encouraging Gamergate affiliates to frequent 8chan after 4chan banned the topic."

One of the crazy things I've never had a Trumpian explain is how they can argue for freedom of speech while applauding Trump choosing which News outlets get access to ask questions. Free speech paah!!

What adds to the unrest and division is throwing a blanket across all conservatives and Trump voters and labeling them as "extremists" and "loyalists". Censorship by U.S. Big Tech purely for political opinion doesn't help unity, nor does describing right-wing values as "propagandist conspiracy theory".

Russian and Chinese leaders would applaud your rhetoric! :applause:

A couple of things. The nice folks at Reuters sure seem to have their panties in a bunch. I mean, the "nerve" of folks trying to conduct business, after the technocrats banned them. I would say our stalwart Reuters team surely failed basic internet. They got the "what is the political talking points from talkingpointsmemo.com, but that's really about it. Just a basic understanding of the service ddos-guard would have entirely undercut their pejorative snarky BS hit piece. And basically, that's all it really was.

Without being too technical, it appears the folks at PARLER are going to pains about ensuring that folks like AWS, or Googlie, or Apple won't be able to attack them or take them off line. That is, after all, what a denial of service (DDOS) is. But for the brain team from Reuters, they were simply too arrogant to even ask why an internet destination would need that. Then there was all the gratuitous BS about the racists (soooo typical of the tyrannical left to ALWAYs refer to their opponents now in this way) and "terrorists" (where to BLM and ANFTIFA post again FB and TWITTER) but who cares... right?

The term "like minded" seems to be appropriate here. Where like minded technocrats are colluding together to ensure that the inter webs are free from any political discourse that they don't support. How ultra Soviet is that?

I would make two points. First, if the DDOS Guard folks are Russian, perhaps that makes a tremendous amount of sense given the nature of the Russian government, and their explicit control of their own internet. And, like China, the Russian government is pretty picky about what speech or content they allow in their country. Freedom perhaps? And is this really what the brainiacs at Reuters are all flustered by? Seems to be.

Second, why do you suppose that suddenly technocrats and Russians/Chinese service delivery seem to be so similar....And more, why do democrats seem to be in favor of that.... Like the poster of the OP, this ability to just say what you want, verboten. And that's the way tyrants like it.

Seems that trusting US based corporations to ensure the neutrality of the internet was just as foolish. And here you are, is this just you trolling as you put it?

Here's an analogy for you: Does everyone who owns an iPad or iPhone, made by Chinese slave labor for Apple's CEO Tim Cook, support Xi's Communist regime and slavery?

The irony is supreme, isn't it? For us baby boomers, who would have thought all those years ago that Russia would be providing safe space to men like Edward Snowden who exposed the crimes of the federal government? Not I.

And now it is Russia who is opening up free speech avenues closed by US/CIA corporations like Amazon and Google.

You're the one openly admiring them, not me. I would never trust Russian or Chinese government sponsored entities.

That is a naive and misinformed statement.

Us Corporations DO have political opposition. Have you forgotten Occupy Wall Street and what it stood for and what happened to it?

One enemy of US Corporations and Wall Street is Elizabeth Warren. She may be many other things too, but she understood the many crimes of Wall Street and Corporations, and she acted to restrict that power. See what happened to her.

Good question. It always amazes me that the smug folks who tout their "wokeness" are so willing to ignore how their prestige from using Macs is so entirely undercut by the fact that chinese slave labor went into making it for them. But democrats sure seem to like them some slaves.

Yes. It was foolish. If you are going to run an extremist site like 8chan with child porn and all, its foolish to think a company like Amazon would let you do it on their platform. They have a reputation to maintain.

I take it you never heard of Russian troll farms aka web brigades aka "The Internet Research Agency" aka Glavset aka "Trolls from Olgino" aka Russian troll army. They are full time trolls creating misinformation (lately to promote Trump) for the gullible Americans.

Do you own an Apple product? It is made by Chinese government sponsored slave labor.

And no, I am not "openly admiring" totalitarian governments. I am noting the surreal dystopia happening when Big Tech and Media in America become a totalitarian Ministry of Truth over America, narrowing speech and forcing competition to subscribe to the only option they have.

When freedom in America falls into tyranny, and we are now on that edge, then any possibility for future generations to have a better world is toast. Americans voted for technocratic globalism over American sovereignty by a very slim margin. We are already witnessing the oppressive impacts.

Mac Pro's are made in Austin, TX. I use a Dell.

    Eeeehhhh......if you say so.

I never met anyone who tout their "wokeness", so clearly you have more "woke" and Dem friends than I do.

You: "Russian businesses offering free market capitalism and competition to small business"

So, yea, you are admiring them thinking they are the good guys when their motivations are the opposite. They see this as an opportunity to utilize radicalized Americans to weaken the US (and you have made every argument to support it).

Are you glad you can go back to blaming the government for everything after having to defend them while your boy was in office?
