You are now at the crossing. And you want to choose, but there is no choosing there. There’s only accepting the death that is coming.

The choosing was done a long time ago when we chose freedom instead of the police state needed to stop the pandemic.

It is a riff on a quote from the movie The Counselor.

You are now at the crossing. And you want to choose, but there is no choosing there. There’s only accepting. The choosing was done a long time ago. – Jefe, advising "the counselor" after his first drug deal goes very wrong.

I chose freedom years ago. Now my chances of contracting Covid are about as near zero as possible. I now am in complete control of my risk exposure to Covid. If everyone had chosen the freedom I did, the pandemic could have been averted or stopped cold in a few weeks.

Alas, too many are dependent on government and other services. I have to accept the deaths of others, but it isn’t the result of my choosing freedom. It’s the result of their choosing dependence on others.
