Well that's a good point. If the Senate wants to set a new low-bar precedent and unconstitutionally convict citizens for "daring" to get elected to the presidency, then we could go back in time and convict Carter, Clinton (again), Bush, and Obama. Several times each. Maybe even start posthumous impeachments and trials of dead presidents.

Trump scared the heck out of The Establishment, and it's their fault that they nearly lost their grip on the power agreement the "two" parties have jointly held since WWII.

In 2016, Trump was the only "Republican" candidate who polls showed could not beat Hillary. So when voters preferred either outsider Trump or Cruz, the DINO/RINO party pushed Trump and were okay with Hillary winning the round, even if it was the "Republicans' turn" to win (think Jeb Bush) so that the public perceived that we had a two-party state instead of a one-party oligarchy.

Anyway, now that the masks are off and we see that we don't actually live under any semblance of a "democracy" by and for the people, it appears that The State is readying to wipe out 1st and 2nd Amendment rights fast and hard. That would be in the name of "saving our democracy" of course (The Big Lie); the same words our government has used when bombing the heck out of foreign countries who posed no threat to us. Half the country is ready to cheer for extreme government abuses of power, not yet realizing that they aren't safe either.
