I have never been afraid of republicans before. I have always viewed them as the loyal opposition.

Or it can go like this:

Destroying the country from within, trashing the constitution, loading the courts, conspiracy, “alternative” facts, censorship, voter fraud, cult like worship — those are the things that will destroy this nation. Not "being self-reliant", not "giving the employee and the employer the freedom to decide on the wage", not "equal rights for all instead of special rights for identity groups", not "voluntary private charity instead of forced contributions at the point of a gun", not "paring the massively bloated government down to a manageable size which requires less taxes", not equal and fair representation. So you say no American will benefit unless the government controls everything, I say all Americans will benefit if we get the damn government out of our lives.

Talk about being 'upfront' & 'to the point'... Kudos to you I guess ~ ...

    - Not sure of the veracity of your post though... "death of legislators & the whole prequel thing" ... could you expound?

When you try to overturn the government it's really wrong.
    There is a difference.

For the past year (and longer), we've had groups that are predominantly democrat participating in rioting, looting, arson, assault, and murder across the country hidden under the disguise of "peaceful protests" by the MSM and many other democrats never condemned it and many even defended it. Then on Jan 6th, a group of predominantly rightwing radicals caused a riot at the capitol. It was immediately condemned by the right and arrests were made. Since then, if you read the dozens of threads here on PF or read the numerous daily MSM stores, you'd think republicans were hunting down the opposition and beating them in the streets. We're hearing of these so-called threats in which there is zero proof of. This nonsense has to stop. The OP here proves the idea that the republicans are dangerous and threatening which is completely false.

"Those" people tried to overturn America's election.
That's the problem they have.... and we have.

In the scheme of things, it was a small group of people who do not represent the republican party. But I see you're gonna ride that horse in through the barn and out in the back pasture till it's dead.

Yes, that's a small group. That's not all republicans or Trump supporters. You're really wanting to hang on to the butt hurtedness of what happened while ignoring all the other violence from the left.

How about those of us who want to call out all violence? The people who rioted and looted were small groups.

Mostly peaceful protests was terrible phrasing.

Peaceful protests led to violent outbreaks, by some. (This is true and you don't even need to know what team colors they were wearing.)

Current information war causes the emergence of crazies on both sides.
Many young and inexperienced people are buying mass media’s claims of white privilege at face value and advocate unbelievable things, like justifying racial unrest. Another group gets upset with open and heavy bias in mass media and start searching for more complete coverage online that addresses their questions, which leads many into the hands of conspiracy nuts and violent extremists.

So the agenda excuses the violence, arson, destruction, looting, and murder?

    Didn't say that.
What I did say is the people that broke into the Capitol and threatened legislatures were Trumpers.

I have a lot of respect for conservatives going back to William F. Buckley. I also have a huge amount of respect for the republican party as it used to be. As it used to be. I fear that that party is gone forever, and the country will be the worse off by their departure. There has been a call in this thread for the republican party to be razed to the ground and rebuilt from the ground up. I fear that the republican party has self destructed, has razed itself to the ground and there are none left to rebuild it. I don't know what it will be in the future, or if it will retain the name, but I don't believe that it will be recognizable as the GOP.

One of my favorite democrats was Barbara Jordan. Lots of respect for her. I also used to respect the democratic party, even voted straight ticket D years ago. I fear the party is forever changed though, and the country just isn't the same as when the democratic party was for the American working middle class. The party now serves identity politics and special interest groups at the expense of middle class working families, and it has gone past the point of no return, and America is worse off for that. I know where we are headed under the leftist utopian policies forced on the country by an authoritarian central government, and no one in the D party seems to be willing to stand up against that. The Democratic Party needs a name change, because it simply doesn't stand for the values that it stood for decades ago.

I don't know anything about the current issue, but the GOP gave up its principles, perseverance and "loyal opposition" attributes decades ago.

We absolutely will be worse off now that the POT has in effect declared itself to be opposed to democracy. In part, by refusing to hold those responsible for the Capital riot to account. And, in the wake of Dear Leader's defeat, trying to subvert the will of the voters.

"In Arizona, where President Joe Biden became the first Democrat to carry the state in more than two decades, Sweren-Becker said state legislators introduced a particularly egregious “voter-suppressive hat trick,” which restricts who can assist voters in delivering absentee ballots, requires all mail-in ballots to be notarized, and adds a voter ID requirement for returning ballots in person.

Legislators in 10 states introduced new voter ID laws, including creating them for the first time in six states.

In one particularly absurd example, Georgia Republicans want to require that absentee voters provide a photocopy of their ID two times throughout the voting process."

"The Republican chair of Arizona's state House Ways and Means Committee introduced a bill Wednesday that would give the Legislature authority to override the secretary of state’s certification of its electoral votes.

GOP Rep. Shawnna Bolick introduced the bill, which rewrites parts of the state's election law, such as sections on election observers and securing and auditing ballots, among other measures.

One section grants the Legislature, which is currently under GOP control, the ability to revoke the secretary of state's certification "by majority vote at any time before the presidential inauguration."
