We all know that there was a riot at the Capital, we have all seen the videos, we saw them yesterday. THAT is not the issue. We don't need loops of it repeated over and over. All those who were there in violation of the law should be prosecuted.
This is about did Trump in his speech that day incite them to do it. And they have NOT proven that and are not proving that by showing what happened AT the Capital over and over and over.

They have every responsibility to show the full record of what that incited mob did to, and in, the building...

And at no time have they limited their focus exclusively on his speech.

You would know that if you were watching closely...

But, to your credit, it sounds like you find this disturbing, so that's a plus

Not applicable...his term expired. You don't really think Trump is going to beat this on a "technicality" do you? Besides, if he's not convicted on impeachment, the DoJ will get him.

"Judgement must be limited to being hung (COMMA) and being shot.

So being hung must happen before you are shot?

    Dang, that's cold...

Once again, for the Umpteenth Time:

It Isn't Just About "his speech that day".

Trump INCITED This Deadly Insurrection by Posting 2 Months of "It was stolen" Crap--Which served to Radicalize These Fringe Domestic Terrorists Lunatics.

His "Exact Words" on the 6th do NOTHING to Exculpate Trump from Complete Responsibility for this Egregious Terrorist Attack.

Hmmm... that was interesting... Plaskett just said Pence bunkered in the Capitol all day, but Pelosi was taken offsite...

Even though the threat was approximately the same against the 2...

Where does the Constitution say the Senate can put on trial anyone they choose to including a private citizen, can legally sanction a private citizen and not have to follow the Constitution?

Inciting a riot has to be SPECIFIC to the event and an EXPLICT order. He has a perfect right to believe it was stolen and to state that belief that is not an incitement to insurrection at the Capital. The charge in the indictment is he violated the law and incited a riot that day. The Dems still say the 2016 election was stolen due to Russian interference and collusion with the Trump campaign, both proven false. Are we going to charge Hillary who also told Biden to NEVER concede? How about the Dems who on the day Trump was inaugurated who called for his removal?

Yes as Turley noted today the Dems are trying to throw anything and everything against the wall hoping something will stick. The most outlandish being the use of the word "fight" by a politician.

So what does that have to do with anything and how does it prove Trump incited it all?

I love Ms. Plaskett. (Del. Virgin Islands).

It shows how the Non-Voting At-Large Delegates (elected to represent Governmental Entities Like V.I. and D.C.) can play a meaningful role in the business of Congress.

Trump is not being tried by the Senate for his actions as a Private citizen, he is being tried for his actions as President - Trump should be punished by the Senate for his acts done as President

They feel he should get a Nobel Peace Prize for his heroic, patriotic actions that day

These supporters of his have lost their godamn minds. They refuse to see the criminal acts of the Rump. Their implicit support of him will be part of the record of history too.

Don't give them ammunition.... don't call it criminal (yet). Stick with impeachable, as it's a much lower bar to prove and convict.

House has done a great job, and they haven't even really started on T****'s non-response to shutting it down that day.

You are right, but at this point, it doesn't matter. If the Senate Repubs are such slime balls as to ignore this and still acquit Rump, then this is the record that ANY non-Repub politician will point to for years to come. They are defending the worst human being we have ever had for president, all built around a humongous ball of lies.

And 44 senators don't agree with that revisionist interpretation(and neither do I.). It's a grotesque misreading of the constitution in my opinion(it's not even a misreading, it's a desire.) The political sham show must go on, our descent as a 3rd world country is official.

Agree, but still, I've spent HOURS on here trying to explain to Americans and non-Americans alike, that this is a political process as prescribed by the Constitution, not a legal process as prescribed by the Constitution.

    Here's a non-R politician making a salient point....

Maybe this has already been brought up, but if Trump was convicted that provides the defense for all the rioters on January 6th. They all walk free!

That is indeed the defense their defense lawyers are making, but the law doesn't work that way. You are responsible for your own actions.

This is quasi-impeachment related, and I'm vowing to never start another thread on this kook so I'll post it here...

Can't wait to see what the kook comes up with... Kyle dodged a bullet (pun intended) not ending up with this guy as his lawyer

    SNIP
A pro-Trump lawyer and alleged conspiracy theorist, Lin Wood, has sworn under oath that Mike Pence was a "traitor" for his role confirming Joe Biden's election win, as he reaffirmed previous smears made about the former vice president.

The remarks by Wood appeared in a court filing submitted to the US District Court in New York’s eastern district on Tuesday, in which Mr Wood claimed to have "credible evidence to support the truth of my description of former vice-president Pence as a traitor,” Law & Crime reported.
