Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley issued stunning remarks breaking with former President Trump, telling Politico in an interview published Friday that she believes he "let us down."

"We need to acknowledge he let us down," Haley, who served in her ambassador role under Trump, said. "He went down a path he shouldn't have, and we shouldn't have followed him, and we shouldn't have listened to him. And we can't let that ever happen again."

The politically appropriate action. She is, after all, a politician.

 

Many who supported Trump were highly disappointed when he threw MP under the bus. It was a deal breaker for them as well as for myself. For a man who expected loyalty from his associates he showed very little loyalty towards even those who served him best throughout his tenure. MP had no choice but to follow the Constitutional duty set before him and many admired him for his integrity. If Trump was impeached in his first trial MP as his replacement would have been widely accepted.

 

She's setting herself up to step into trump's shoes.

 

Too late. The Republicans are now fractured into the MAGA Party and the Not Insane Republicans.

 

That might be the case but if she uses Trump's shoes to launch her candidacy she might not get much traction. She will have to reinvent herself while avoiding either criticizing Trump or supporting him. Trump supporters are still legion and won't accept turncoats.

 

That's very smart of her to do. Another person crossed off the democrat's hit list and now she won't have to look over her shoulder every 5 seconds worrying about the bloodthirsty democrats

Now that Trump is fading away, she doesn't have to worry about so much of a flood of death threats coming from his followers, as has happened to pretty much every journalist or politician who has dared to stand up to him in any way, including his own VP for daring to follow the Constitution instead of wiping his ass with it to defend the Dear Leader.

 

Now she will be labeled as a traitor, and has to worry about raving mobs of Trump supporters. They wanted to murder Pence (who was also labeled as a traitor), but they might settle for Nikki.

 

Only by the TRUE fanatics. Most of us are smart enough to realize she's doing what she's gotta do for her safety and career. Safety first!

 

She won't be safe now that she crossed Trump.

 

And I wont be surprised if she even has death threats........Thats how the GOP minions roll, always a Second Amendment remedy!

But it doesn't matter. We all knew trump was scum 5 years ago. If she is just now figuring that out then she is a very stupid person.

 

I think those RINOs like her will soon discover they've very decidedly taken the WRONG action.

Looks like she is trying to position herself as a 'voice of reason on the right' candidate for 2022 or 2024 depending on her ambitions. The fact that Haley jumped ship when she did suggests she has been trying to distance herself from Trump for a while. She likely saw where the train was heading.

Given the extent to which the Trump cult appears to have taken over at this point I'm prepared to accept that she is being something close to honest. If the Trump cult declines in power by, say, 2024, this might be seen as smart politics. If it stays strong this will be seen as 'brave but ultimately doomed' or something similar.

 

She isn't RINO. She is a hardcore republican. She doesn't see a political advantage in throwing in with Trump. I think she is considering a 2024 run. She is probably right.

 

You seem to think Trump is the gold standard for a Republican, but you have it upside down. Trump is the gold standard for a RINO.
