While I generally agree with this, the qualifications suck. Mathematics is the epitome of objective science. The origins of the findings are 100% immaterial. Anyone who disagrees is a f***ing hack and should be publicly shamed.

I would like to hear your summary of the subject. I believe you don’t understand it. Not shocking though.

Do they sell this dung in Chinese schools? The dragon is on it's way to rule the world, and the world is too damned dumbed down to care.

I have studied and informed myself. Looking for your summary, but I noticed you didn’t post it.

Personally , I believe these states don’t understand either. They are bastardizing D’Ambrosio’s work.

The OP posted an opinion. There’s nothing to refute. Opinions are like *******s everybody’s got one. There’s not near enough info in the article he posted for me to make a comprehensive conclusion about their efforts. Feel free to post one that does provide the information needed. Thank you in advance.

    You mean: As I said.

Not everyone watches Fox News, and it really doesn't serve you well to try and claim everyone does. It's a weak attempt at marginalizing people, so you don't have to actually discuss the subject.

A subject should not have a separate method of teaching based on gender, sexual identification or skin color. The only factor should be age, for the average student.

Personally, I find this to be a great idea! I was always terrible at math. This way, kids can get an A in their math class, regardless of their work, and the tell then school Valedictorian to go screw themself for putting so much work into it.

What a world we live in. Such a bright future for space age exploration when these fine A+ academics put their new math skills to the test.

Dont worry. The STEM fields are all racist because 50% of those working aren’t black or women. Never mind there isn’t mathematically enough qualified black people or women to fill all those roles, but that requires math to actually figure that out:) Maybe if we keep pushing white males into non stem fields, or artificially prevent them from succeeding through AA, that will make things better? For every average minority or female pushed through the system to make it equitable, there are qualified white males being pushed out to make room for them. It’s ****ing disgusting.

How does 'culture' influence mathematics in a homogenous society? Does that mean one group can say the coin in their hand is worth X, where the item they are purchasing is worth Y? Why is this country not also functioning in the metric system AND standard?

Just as someone is welcome to speak any language they want, they cannot expect other people who do not speak their language to understand, nor accept as informational, a statement that is not in a standardized format.

Apparently it’s also a problem teaching in English. How dare kids be taught in a standardized language. Everyone already speaking English for 100s of years in this country needs to learn Spanish to make it easier for those growing up now. God forbid we enact some sort of standard that people learn ENGLISH first. That’s racist or something :)

I have family members whose native tongue is not English. When among other people who speak their native tongue, they will speak it, with a great deal in English if the group is mixed. If they want to transact business, they speak English.

What seems to have gotten lost, with help from certain groups, is that if you go to a foreign country to visit, you best be able to ask for the bathroom without insulting their mother. If you plan on living and working there, you better speak understandably in the native language to work and live there.

As the story goes, when the Christians began taking over Europe in the aftermath of the fall of the Roman empire, they had a habit of burning books, squashing all alternate schools of thought. Many of the books in Greece and in Egypt were burnt and lost to history. But there were Persians who valued those books and kept many in their libraries. During the Renaissance, these books were rediscovered by Europeans after having suffered for a millennium in the dark ages of Christian rule.

This topic is the equivalent of teaching alternative medicine as legit.

It is the equivalent of saying “yes, chiropractors are doing great things for your back and in no way is all that popping and cracking and manipulating your spine endangering you.”

I am sure an engineering friend of mine will be happy to work with these fine, outstanding students with their participation A+ scores helping figuring out intense calculations for our space program. I am sure their “the answer is whatever I say it is” taught viewpoint will not lead to any tragic results.

We have gone a complete 180 as a society, to where we no longer reward or encourage exceptional behavior.

And because the truth is, not everyone is created equal, you have to drag everyone else down to the lowest level.

Which is exactly the reason the military has standards.

I read a book awhile back titled, The History of Pi. It argued that the Egyptians most likely were unaware of pi. It was used inadvertently because they often used a wheel to measure out distances. This allowed them to formulate equations that gave answers that modern people would formulate differently using pi.

Yeh, yeh, the military is great, the military is truly wondrous.

All toddlers should have to kill a kitten, that'll toughen them up

Like no other field has standards.

Typical conservative fake news story. Does the military approve of lying through your teeth? Because conservatives certainly do so enough.

Has not a constant thread in conservative rhetoric been the idea that not everyone learns the same? The whole one size does not fit all argument. Seems as if they are here, abandoning that concept.
