~ Yes - mostly "half-truths" as usual. Trump merely merged departments and cut some fat as needed. There was never an elimination of pandemic response/research experts. Of course Fauci remains to this day .

Ok so that's one, but there's also the fact that the handbook they inherited from Obama was not even looked at.

The freaking title of this thread is "democrats destroy entire generation with endless lockdowns" when the lockdowns have ended in May of 2020. Maybe YOU didn't in which case I apologize, but the whole thread is making this stuff up, like many here have noticed.

And no, lockdowns and occupancy restrictions are two VASTLY different things. Maybe you should look it up. Those are not mererely semantics. Those are profoundly different ordnances. In one, everything is shut down. Restaurants for example are simply forbidden from functioning, and many other businesses. People are ordered to stay home. Occupancy restrictions, restaurants and stores can open and function and serve the patrons and sell stuff; just, not more than say, 30% of capacity.

I mean, a store has a line outside, ... and they can have this number of customers inside at any given time. You wait a little until someone comes out then they send you in. I haven't failed to buy anything that I wanted from any store due to these occupancy restrictions... The store is not making less money out of my business. Just, I'm the one who needs to wait a little, outside, no big deal, usually very little time. That's about it. In a lockdown, that store would be closed, and I'd be ordered to stay home except for essential activities like healthcare, going to the pharmacy, and to the grocery store. Period, full stop. VASTLY different from occupancy restrictions.

You can have your "in my opinion" as much as you want but they are simply not the same thing at all.

Have you seen those signs "unlawfull occupancy by more than 100 people as per the fire marshall" that existed in all stores before the pandemic? How many times did you actually see 100 people simultaneously there? Usually there would be a few people browsing stuff... so if it drops to 30, it makes very little difference.

~ Do we know what was in that notebook ? Why is this important ? Much redundancy was eliminated under Trump's administration. As John Bolton said : "Bloated beaurucracy was eliminated ".

~ That's available everywhere. This is not secret information. It's even on the internet. I wonder if it had information that WHO and the Chinese government were in bed together ?

In Oregon, the governor, Kate Brown ordered a state wide lockdown a week after the virus first hit the state. Schools, restaurants, bars, gyms, sporting events, churches, all shut down. But then the state has been offering financial assistance beyond what the Feds have been offering. A more robust eviction moratorium. Masks have long been mandated as well as social distancing. All the grocery stores have plexiglass barriers between the cashiers and the customers. Travelers have been being screened at the airport soon after the first outbreak was reported in Washington.

The result. Oregon has had one of the lowest outbreaks of the virus in the country. In the continental US, only Vermont has done better. Not only that, but because liberals tend to prepare for the possibility of natural disasters, and the fact that Oregon has one of the better healthcare systems in the country, the state has handled the pandemic with ease. Much better than elsewhere.

I don’t know, it is a difficult decision. Life or money, money or life. It is such a hard decision.

If you noticed, New York is one of those flip flop states. Was not Rudy Giuliani, the Trump’s deranged lawyer, once the mayor of New York? Chaz was in Seattle and was mostly a refuge for the homeless. The outbreak among the homeless in the Northwest has been surprisingly low. The outbreak among protestors has also been quite low.

~ CHAZ ( CHOP ? ) is still in Portland today. If the outbreak was low that indicates social distancing/masks are irrelevant. These folks are not conforming to safe hygiene standards. Perhaps they hold the secret to Covid immunity ?

The overwhelming majority of people that have died are elderly or people with extensive health issues. Most likely night the people grabbing some food at Texas Roadhouse.

Also. Why shouldn't people be free to make the decision that's best for them?

1: Trump and the GOP were in charge for this.
2: Are you so devoid of empathy that you cannot see that every human on the planet is struggling with Covid 19?
    3: What is your suggestion?

That's not how we deal with a pandemic.

You are forgetting also that Blacks and Hispanics are more likely to die. Old non-White people with health issues make up the majority of deaths.

For the record, we are actually eating "out," more than we used to. We are supporting local restaurants we love. We are just doing it take out style.

It makes sense, though. Even with the extra eating out, I'm still running my dishwasher at least once a day. Going from one person working at home full time, to three people at home full time, makes the dishes pile up, FAST.

OTOH, the washer and dryer aren't working as hard as they used to.

We have also continued supporting restaurants by getting take out. We even tip more because our bill is much less than if we dined in. Figured every little bit helps.
I've noticed people talking about this "lockdown" but I'm not aware of such "lockdown"....and I'm in a blue state. Businesses have been open here for quite some time now.

How "we" deal with a pandemic?

By allowing people to make the decisions that are best for them?

You are completely free to bunker up in your house and wear 37 face masks. But why exactly do you feel like you have the right to dictate what is right for other people?

What is with some people and their desire to control other people?

so... do you really believe that the virus is harsher on non-white people?

I am really curious to know the reason why you think this is the case.

Anti mask, and anti reality believers such as Covid deniers do not have the right to make others unsafe.

    Savvy?

Wait. If people are unsafe and feel unsafe, why are they out in the public?

Is it not safest to stay home and not make any contact with any other human?
