This may seem like much ado about nothing, but, if you recall, he publicly slammed the mayor of Austin for taking a vacation in the middle of a pandemic.

Apparently, he also lied. He said he was only planning to fly his girls down and come back today, however, he only bought the return ticket today, and he was on standby for a while, not completely sure he would get a seat.

One rule for thee and another for me.

    **
Note: Your whataboutism won't work for me. I recently chastised the jerk governor from California for pulling the same sort of crap. "Don't eat out, lowly peons, but I'm going to eat at this fancy restaurant with friends."

Don't misunderstand me, Cruz makes my short list of despicable people but in all fairness whether he's in Texas or not doesn't do anything for Texas.

Yes, but he slammed the mayor of Austin for taking a trip mid-crisis. Just pointing out the hypocrisy.

Yes and I would say that the Mayor of a city would be more involved in handling a crisis than a lawmaker in Washington.

The mayor of Austin told residents to stay home for the holidays then left for Cabo. Did Cruz tell anyone they must stay home?

Texas is in the soup right now. It's a poor look, and ill-timed on his part.

The mayor of a small town in Texas had to resign for telling his residents that if they were cold due to lack of electricity, it's their fault.

Texas is in the hot seat. Cruz shouldn't have done it.

If it wasn't a bad idea, why did he buy a ticket to get home less than a day after he left? Apparently, his constituents are unhappy, or he would have stayed and enjoyed Mexico.

    Absolutely agree, 100%.

    Cruz is a despicable person.

And what the hell is going on with that hair he has? LOL

What do you expect the senator to do about the situation? Do he have a second job with the power company?

Why is he flying home? Simple question.

I don't know, I was asking if you knew.
I'm hearing most are getting power restored now. I'm not sure what anyone expects a senator to do about the power outages.

So the answer is no, Cruz told no one they had to stay there, and if he hasn't yet he will likely put out a statement. What did the Democrat mayor of Austin say when caught since you brought him into the conversation?

He bought a ticket home (on stand by) after his trip became public. You can draw your own conclusions.

I don't understand Cruz. He leaves the people he represents for Cancun, Mexico when the people in Texas need the most and right now. Cruz cares about himself not Texas.

He already said that he flew down there to bring his girls on a trip and planned to come home today.

"Planned," as in, he bought a ticket (stand by) the moment he got caught.

The republican party is really the party of the social elites. Millions are freezing and the best they can do is go on vacation. Us peasants will have to deal with reality while they get to splurge in luxury. I guess those millions he received from oil companies is finally paying off!

What would you have liked to see a senator do about power outages?

And yet AGAIN, What is it that the senator can do about the power outages? I keep asking, no one can answer.

I dunno. Ask him why he's in communication with state and local leaders.

My staff and I are in constant communication with state and local leaders to get to the bottom of what happened in Texas. We want our power back, our water on, and our homes warm. My team and I will continue using all our resources to keep Texans informed and safe."

So no one knows of anything he can actually do, but you just want to bitch about him going on a planned vacation with his family because he's republican.

I don't know what sort of power Senators have. They have power, though. Cruz said so.

Explain to me why if he's completely powerless, he's inserting himself into the situation at all.

Also explain why if he didn't think he did anything wrong, he cut his trip short. (From a week to just under a day.)

Did Cruz try to stop people from traveling? What is that? He did not? Do you see the difference?

It's all right if you don't know the answers to my questions.

He flies to Mexico for a week.
His constituents find out and express anger.
He immediately buys a ticket home.

    You do the math, yourself.
