Perseverance stuck the landing: NASA's rover lands on Mars, marking the start of a new era of exploration https://www.nbcnews.com/science/spa...uches-red-planet-rcna295?cid=eml_nbn_20210218 Photos t o come tomorrow~~ WOW........ Congratulations ..so well done How wonderful to have some good news.
Why don't they ever send one to the Cydonia region and clear this up once and for all? It's Mars too.
Another step towards America claiming Mars as it's own. Congratulations to NASA and former president Donald John Trump for supporting NASA and America's superiority in space. Way to go guys!
Great accomplishment for NASA and its partners. Waiting for the first heli flight on Mars. The next missions has a go. Recovery of the probes in 2026 or 2028. That should be a killer mission of NASA and ESA.
Rriigghhtt. Let's waste several billions on an optical illusion. There's nothing in Cydonia besides that and we already know what that was.
Was watching the NASA control center live and they had one Asian woman front and center in camera view. Other than that they were all white people in there. How does stuff like this happen when we have an African-American Jamaican-Indian vice president?
The area that was chosen for a landing holds the potential to find out if life in whatever early form existed there The equipment will be collecting rocks etc to be picked up at a later date. And exciting and potentially informative mission.
Are they really going to pick up samples to be sent home? Elon Musk will probably have a Hotel built there by the time that's over with.
Yes......the plan is to collect samples and keep them there until they can be picked up by another trip there . Rocks and other specimens. This is why the location was important. It supposedly had water there at one time. If there was life-form there before......... the question is why and how did it end.......or stop evolving ??
As I understand there's no mystery there. Mars was smaller than Earth and its core cooled so there was no more magnetic field to protect it from the Solar Wind, which then stripped most of its atmosphere. Mars would actually be almost nicer than Earth if its magnetic field could be restored and there is some possibility of that happening someday EM is going to turn it into a resort before this century ends. The new Southhamptons Be a neat story if Robert A. Heinlein hadn't already written it.
Moi Father worked on the Viking Landers in the way back. Communications engineer who knew nothing of biology since pre revolution Russia. And one experiment for "life" remains unresolved. My guess is the unexpected perchlorate. Colonize Mars with All
Hey let's name a valley on Mars after Obama then. You know under Obama NASA's main objective was getting Africans more interested in space. True story.
Actually it wasn't Obama's main objective but you go right on parroting thinly disguised birther nonsense. As for your suggestion about naming a valley on Mars after Obama, you should send it to NASA........I'm sure they'd be happy to hear from you.
Might as well since we’re running out of old guy names (like Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, etc.) that are acceptable to use anymore.
The damn thing made a perfect landing with no help from anybody. Here's a snapshot out the window.... can't wait 'til they turn it loose with all the instruments it has.
