I listen to NPR quite a bit. I never have a feeling of guilt of slavery or feminism.
I don't even recall stories on such a thing.

The real thing. This landing is just part of a far greater mission.
Perc will retrieve rock samples with a core drill and than deposit them in the crater. 2026 or 2028 the next mission will start. Retrieval of those samples.
Land on Mars, get the buggy out, pick up the samples, load them up and than shoot them into a orbit around Mars, were a space ship is waiting, load them up and than bring them back to earth.
Its a NASA/ESA project, which could not be more challenging.
We never landed a return vehicle on a planet. On the Moon, but never on a planet, 11 light minutes away.

Very daring the whole thing.

and yes...this is a multifaceted mission..... with a potential humongous leap forward in knowledge gaining.

And with so many choices of information, you don't need to listen to NPR. But they are the most informative that I've listened to. And not biased.

It is heart stopping. Almost like being there Kinda leaves one speechless ...

 

What we'll find when man lands on Mars will remain to be seen. We really don't know yet what we'll encounter like in the movies what we could encounter there. It may be eerie at first like in the Outer Limits and Mars is sort of like the Outer Limits wouldn't you think? We'll know eventually what man will discover then he gets there. It will be one adventure I tell you. What science books and books of astronomy tell us. They may be right and they may be wrong. It remains to be seen.

NASA shares first video, new images from Mars Perseverance rover - CNN
During its harrowing descent to the surface of Mars last Thursday, NASA's Perseverance rover captured video that the agency is calling "How to Land on Mars." The video, along with other newly released footage, gives earthlings back home a better sense of the sights and sounds on the red planet.
I saw on line some of the video that was displayed. It was fantastic.

 

Is that actual footage?

 

Makes you wonder who took the picture if that was in Mars.

NASA on Monday released the first high-quality video of a spacecraft landing on Mars, a three-minute trailer showing the enormous orange and white parachute hurtling open and the red dust kicking up as rocket engines lowered the rover to the surface.

The footage was so good _ and the images so breathtaking _ that members of the rover team said they felt like they were riding along.

“It gives me goose bumps every time I see it, just amazing,” said Dave Gruel, head of the entry and descent camera team.

Watching this kind of event....makes one think that ANYTHING is really possible......probable .
