Such invective rhetoric. I won't hold it against you. I will retract my statement regarding your cordiality though.

PS, slow down. I'm having to correct your formatting mistakes.

You want a serious discussion? Don't present unreliable, disreputable sources.

I prefer to follow the sage advice never to argue with idiots or wrestle with pigs, although I’m sure you are neither.

Touche', & since as you intimated that you suspect me of being neither an "idot" or a "pig" - what is this sage advice that you are referencing in regard to dialogue with ~ yours truly, ME :) Seems as though the following of your 'sage advice' would not preclude you from hashing it out with me... just saying

You sent us (troops, your sons and daughters) to a foreign land to accomplish a mission. Theses guys (iranians) came from a different foreign land, met us on the battlefield, and killed us.

This is not how I expected my government to respond...

Hold on - isn't the entire premise of your thread to discredit and malevolently besmirch Biden and Obama? By your own definition, you are engaged in "cancel culture".

We sanction other countries, frankly if a country leaves its money in our possession then it belongs to us. They can't stake a claim on something they left here.

Seizing foreign assets is not the same as another nation "leaving it there."

I don't entirely agree with the post you're responding to; we do have a right to seize foreign assets with cause. That we kept the money isn't the issue. The issue is using those seized funds as a bargaining chip to enter a nuclear agreement.

That's what it is. Nobody stole Iran's money, and nobody gave free money to Iran. It was part of the negotiated deal.

To be fair, I used a bit of hyperbole & probably shouldn't have brought in civil rights abuses into a fiscal discussion. - I do hope you know, however, that we the tax payers in the US are on the hook for billions that get sent to Iran... Sanctions are not just about economic impacts within the "GDP" of IRAN.

When entering into a negotiation, your success will depend upon you knowledge of your 'opponent'. What works for one may not work for another. So if money gets the job done, and it isn't coming from your own coffers or tax dollars, I'd say it's a good move. Unless of course you are campaigning against the one offering the money - then you can just claim that it's coming out of tax dollars.

Leaves? Iran paid for a product that you did not deliver and just kept the money. That in any one's books is called stealing

So Biden plans to help them build a nuke faster. That is what happens when you elect someone who is too damn old. He will never live to see the day his disastrous chickens come home to roost.

Considering that 20 years ago they were "6 months away" from building a nuke they are surely taking their time if they actually wanted one. But hey, you've got to have your bogeymen for you to stay in constant fear

By that "logic" carte blanche' the bell hasn't been rung - but who are we to prevent the "neigh" inevitability of the bell being run... Horse Sheite! :) Progressivism / Globalism is supposed to be about the 'macro' view of the world... no? tut tut, so ensconced in a singular ideological issue to the detriment of "your overarching NARRATIVE" talking points... demerits for this one please, lol...

Your OP is clueless. First, the money Obama released to Iran was their own funds, which we had frozen. It NEVER belonged to us. One would have hoped that, after all these years, & I'm sure the multitude of times that fact has been explained to you, you would at least have gotten that straight.

The rest of your OP calls ending sanctions, "roll(ing) out the red carpet." No reasonable person would equate those two things.

So, while I see that facts are meaningless things, in your mind, I will explain how your thread's title is plainly wrong. The Trump sanctions were imposed in order to force Iran back to the, "bargaining," table, because Trump pulled us out of the bargain that our country's government had already agreed to. Our sanctions have failed to make Iran compliant. I can guess your response: give them MORE time. The same way that we now have Cuba just about ready to capitulate, & give up Communism?

So ending those sanctions are a step back towards an agreement with Iran, limiting their uranium enrichment. It is the alternative path to the one that leads towards war, when Iran gets unacceptable nuclear weapons. So Biden's move was towards at least a detente with Iran, as opposed to a ratcheting up of hostilities. And Americans favor that course. So your premise, that, "NO ONE VOTED, " for this, is patently WRONG.

yep, the right has been trying to repeat this lie for years

the money returned was their money, it got us a deal.... one Trump tore up, thus giving them back their money for nothing

Obama was smart using that as leverage to get a deal, as Trump found out, Trump was unable to make a new bigger better deal as he claimed he would

Oh, I was wrong, it was closer to 30 years ago when they were "just a few years away from a nuclear weapon". And let's repeat the scaremongering, 9 years ago, 6 months from having the materials for an atomic bomb

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...FjAPegQIGxAC&usg=AOvVaw3cD9MWVc18LOcFS-NagTEw
And let's repeat this claim again for fun, 2019
    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...HhAC&usg=AOvVaw2Df7_M3QCcLYG9TIiAoQaD&ampcf=1

And let's repeat it one more time for fun, 2021. Again that magical 6 month period

So you were nine years off. That is like 90% wrong. In the mean time, Joe lied. He said they would have to "ease off" the program before the US removed any sanctions. That wasn't twenty years or twenty months ago. It was 20 days ago.
