Per my ex: Global warming is a hoax and a money making scam

Some of you might recall that I mentioned my ex girlfriend worked for the California democrat party up until Biden was sworn in and I told you some of what she told me a few months ago. For the last 4 weeks or so we've been talking and here is what those conversations are like when she's not complaining about how difficult and stressful the job was and how media people are absolute scum.

I once asked her about Hunter Biden and she told me she knows nothing that I don't already know and to call Sean Hannity if I want to know more.

Then I asked her if Joe Biden profited with his son because of his VP status, and this is when she opened up.

Everything below begins with 'she said' unless otherwise noted.

Of course Biden and his family profited from his political position, all politicians do and he would be the rarest of the rare if he did not. Far too many people go into politics to strike it rich, others go into politics to fix problems and if they can make some cash for themselves then all the better. And other go into politics swearing to be honest and ethical but it's too easy not to be, there's too much money involved.

When I asked her for examples she gave me situations of government contracts for items at nearly twice the price or have low prices but with stipulations for price increases which happen almost immediately. You name it, government cars, cleaning services, desks, IT services, everything. When a new government contract is written or a program goes into place there's always side money to be made among friends, family and donors. So I then asked for an example I might know about and she let loose. (The first example she gave me is the last example below)

California's bullet train. It started with the idea of reducing pollution thus reducing global warming. Instead it turned out to be the single largest tax payer funded get-rich program California ever saw. There are politicians, families, contractors, land owners, even people in foreign countries who will be extremely wealthy for generations thanks to that train. It was designed as a get-rich scheme from the beginning.

I asked for more and got it.

Do you know how cities and counties across CA are now changing their zoning and construction regulations on new homes so they are at least partially powered by solar panels? Guess who lobbied for that? The solar panel industry and banks. The solar panel companies wanted the business, plus with all the extra business they'd get the cost of the panels would go up. And the banks wanted to write larger loans because larger loans equal more interest while the home builders got preferable loans because they steered the home buyers to those banks. Plus, if you looked at the homes of the politicians who made the solar panel regulations, you just might find their homes have solar panels, solar panels that were installed for free or below cost as proof of what future home buyers would get. And, of course, all of the above donated heavily to the politicians who mandated solar panels on new homes.

Those weren't the first stories she told me. When I asked about making money in politics she said the old way was through construction/real estate and oil. Both of those things have ways of measuring them, oil is drilled, sold and shipped, real estate is a known place on the planet and buildings are either there or they're not. So the new way of making money is by capitalizing on something that can't be measured and will always change and that is global warming.

Before I go on, I want to point out my ex is a very proud California progressive who was a Sanders delegate in Philly in 2016 and is an environmental extremist. She once joined a protest in kayaks which tried to stop a cargo ship from entering an LA port and nearly drown in the process (big ships can't stop on a dime)

Here is the first story she gave me which then lead her to the above stories:

A man runs a mid sized chemical company and wants to cash in on global warming, but how? He comes up with the idea of painting the streets white with his chemicals, but where? It has to be a place where it won't be questioned as being too off the wall, a place where there are some hot days, but not too many. California is the place and it can't be Palm Springs because it's too hot and it can't be San Fran because it doesn't get hot enough to justify the expense. So that leaves LA.

Prior to the elections he donates money to environmental causes and all the politicians who are likely to win (not hard in CA). During their campaigns he gives money to the limit, then he gives money to groups who support those candidates. He even gives money to state politicians in order to give him credibility. During campaign rallies and dinners he provides posters (with his company logo on them), valet parking (courtesy of him), door prizes (courtesy of him) and even the macadamia nuts (with his name on them) that go on the dinner plates. By now everyone has at least heard of him and they know he will spend money on politics.

Most or all of the politicians he backed win and then his lobbyists make their move, they approach the city about painting their streets white in order to combat global warming and he has developed a special compound that is perfect for the job. Because he is a big donor his idea is brought before the council. He tells them he's big on global warming and painting the streets white shows forward out of the box thinking, leadership, sets the example for other cities, and will actually lower the temperatures on hot days.

Meetings are held, charts showing the effectiveness of his compound are shown, samples of his compound are provided and environmental impact studies are rushed through in record time. The mayor and city council, knowing he's a big donor, either want to thank him for his money or are afraid that he'll use his money to back their opponents, agree to work out a deal to buy his compound. While much of the fuss was about lowering the temperatures of the streets of LA along with the ambient air which will save on the use of fossil fuels, not a single question is asked about how much more fossil fuels will be used in the winter when the streets and ambient air are now cooler because of his compound.

Finally the guy and his lawyers meet with the city to work out a contract for the compound, which is only slightly different than the paint used on crosswalks, and they work out a very profitable deal for Mr Chemical Company Owner. When questions about the cost are asked the response is about saving the planet for our kids and people can't put a price on that.

Now here's where the corruption comes in.

When they finally settle on a contract price for the compound, clauses are built in so that any rise in the cost of the raw materials, delivery, unanticipated regulatory costs, legal fees, insurance, or any unforeseen costs they might encounter will be billed not as part of the cost of the compound, but separately so those costs get buried and will never be included in the estimated $35-45k per mile cost. Mr Chemical Company Owner not only has street crossing paint that he's selling at an elevated price because now it's a "heat reflecting compound," but he also bills for millions in the additionally negotiated costs which he probably didn't incur, or at least not for the amount billed, and none of that will be made public. And if anyone does an audit and asks questions, it was for the environment dummy. And in CA that will fly. Mr Chemical Guy got what he wanted and the politicians, from top to bottom, now know they can count on his financial support in future elections. Almost certainly and in keeping with political tradition, Mr Chemical Guy generously, but quietly, rewarded the people who made this deal possible.

It is because of the above stories and more, my ex, who was once a staunch believer in global warming, now believes it's a money making hoax.

It is a hoax. In past threads I showed in plain math that man made CO2 amount to 6 parts in a million when compared to the whole earths atmosphere.

It's a hoax, but not for that reason.

That formula is irrelevant. How many parts per million of inhaled Anthrax can kill you? 1. How many of Sarin gas...well you get the point.

The formula is irrelevant, but not for that reason. CO2 is neither an infectious agent nor toxic in any plausible atmospheric concentration.

Your ex-girlfriend seems to have a good head on her shoulders. Rare find these days you should've kept her.

Edit: CO2 is what animals breath out. It's a natural part of the atmosphere quit trying to tell people it's a poison. Just cut it out already.

She dumped me when I moved to Puerto Rico and she didn't want to go.

Another thing she told me was that before she left the democrats believe Trump is going to run again so they're going to remind everyone for the next 4 years why they shouldn't vote for him. She doesn't believe Biden will run again and Harris will never beat a conventional conservative candidate,

Wasn't claiming it was poison...pointing out that the argument being used is illogical because the amount is not what is important it is the effect that is.

We know Biden is going to succumb to Alzheimer's sooner rather than later. That makes Michele Obama Harris Madam President and she has the nuclear football and everything. That alone should be enough to make the economy shrink even more than the covid virus on steroids. We're doomed!

Too long to read. As I minimalist, I recommend shortening it to:

"My ex and I are anti-science. We believe that climate change is a money-making hoax devised by the left."

As for the bit I left in:

Who said it was poison? That's not at all what climate scientists claim.

It's amazing how many people post strong opinions on climate change without actually knowing much about it.

Are there any of those left who would have a snowball's chance on the Senate floor in getting elected? Wouldn't a Trump-supporting QAnon member beat the proverbial pants off such a candidate?

I know what climate change is and I also know it changes little over thousands of years. I also know Al Gore was full of crap and nobody in the mainstream media ever admitted it.

She and I were/are total opposites. She has a dominating alpha personality and doesn't tolerate not being agreed with. Below is one of the few pictures I have of us together and it was taken about 6 or 7 months before we got our own place and lived together. I went to Puerto Rico for a 3 month deal, wound up staying there for 4 years and didn't see her again for almost 20 years and that was when we attended the same funeral. She talks to me now because I'm not in a position to gossip about her since I don't know any of her friends. She's still a bossy biatch, but I love my memories of her. The great thing about talking to her is she's insanely honest and open, if she says something it's the truth, and for almost 15 years she worked for the California democrat party and is now willing to talk about it when prior to quitting her job she wouldn't. If you're a hard core liberal she's your gal.
