Clearly a Manifestation of TRUMP'S Pathological Xenophobia and His Demonizing of Asians.

Many attribute the 2020 uptick to the xenophobic rhetoric of Biden’s predecessor; former President Trump repeatedly referred to COVID-19 as “the China virus,” blaming the country for the pandemic.

“There’s a clear correlation between President Trump’s incendiary comments, his insistence on using the term ‘Chinese virus’ and the subsequent hate speech spread on social media and the hate violence directed towards us,”

    Thanks Alot, Trump!

My heart goes out to the Victims of these Trump-Inspired Anti-Asian Attacks.

former president Donald Trump — who referred to COVID-19 as the "China virus" and "Kung Flu" — has helped stoke the racism.

I literally just replied to you in another thread where you were complaining about a headline because it referred to a "black man". Maybe you need to get your script in order.

Yes, when a black man is done wrong by a white man the headline will say a black man was done wrong by a white man. But when a black man does wrong there is no mention of him or her being black. Can you explain why that is?

well clearly they are jealous of Asian Americans. This was also a discriminated against group of people that rose above it and are now for the most part, more successful than whites. Like Denzel Washington said when questioned about Systematic Racism he shut them up with , "it starts in the home" "if a boy doesn't have a father figure he'll find one in the streets"
How many Asians you know that BE THUGGIN?
We could ALL learn a thing or two from Asian Americans, just sayin

Because it's irrelevant in this case. Do you want race mentioned only where is it relevant or do you want race mentioned only when black people are accused of doing bad things?

If the race of the perp is irrelevant in this case, why is the race of the victim important?

Due to the claims that the victims were targeted because of their race. In the second article I was directly referring it, that was literally stated by the alleged attacker. If they'd targeted women, the gender of the victims would be mentioned. If they'd targeted Christians, the religion of the victims would be mentioned. If they'd targeted brunettes, the hair colour of the victims would be mentioned. It isn't complicated.

So in other words, you were wrong. Race isn't irrelevant. In fact, you seem to think it's the only relevant thing.

What! The victims were chosen because of their race! It's bloody obvious!

No, you're missing (or intentionally misrepresenting) the point. It isn't a case of race in general being relevant or not, it's about whatever specific elements of the incidents that are reported being relevant.

If a victim is targeted because of their race, the victims race specifically would be relevant. If someone commits a crime because of their race (somehow), the criminals race specifically would be relevant. In any given article, both of those things could be true, either one of them could be true or neither could be true. That is determined entirely by the unique set of facts and circumstances of the incident in question.

The article in the OP doesn't describe a motive. What is the basis for thinking this attacker chose the victims because of their race?

If a victim was chosen because of their race, I can see why race would be relevant, but it seems like race would be just as relevant for the attacker.

I have never really understood the animosity toward Asians. I mean sure if you fought in Vietnam or before, but those people largely aren't behind all this.

The OP article refers to people claiming a racial motivation for those attacks. Whether these claims are valid or not, that is part of the story being reported and therefore a relevant factor in the headline.

As I said though, I was mainly referring to the article Steve N linked, where there was evidence of the suspect explicitly talking about targeting Asians, so it was certainly a relevant factor there.

Headlines should reflect what is in the actual article. It's as simple as that.

It is racism. Humans naturally prefer to be around others like themselves. Diversity goes against that natural preference. The result is racism and we will be enduring it for as long as there is racial diversity in the population. We need to get better at accepting the diversity. It is too late to avoid it.

Everyone was blaming it on China until Leftists started calling people racist for it. Then they stopped. You know there’s video on CNN and others calling it the China virus and talking about its origins.

Or would you like to parrot Chinas ministry of information and inform us that the US military planted the virus there. YES. THEY SAID THAT.

    Our friends. :)

Actually it has everything to do with the OP.

The article in the OP didn't give racism as a motive of the suspect, who is in a psychiatric facility now. The article I posted was of another attack on an Asian person by a non-Asian, and again, racism isn't listed as the motive of the suspects, but the subject line of this thread specifically says, "racism" even though it's yet to be demonstrated.
