There is a long running series on UK TV called Antiques Roadshow.
It is a weekly visit to a historical place...could be a castle, could be an old mill, a pumping station...anything, and the public bring along old stuff for discussion and evaluation.
It always amazes me what people have in their family's past that carries maybe not much money value but historical value. A battered hat worn by Churchill, a collection of timetables from a train someone's GGrandfather stoked, a tiny perfect dolls house, a piece of Lalique glass someone's aunt was given on her Birthday but designed by a famous glassblower...and sometimes some fabulous jewellery worth into 6 figures.
and sometimes bits of wood or stone from Africa that no one can identify.
I wouldn't at all be surprised if the format was now international...
It is the quirkiness and personal stories behind the objects which is so interesting.

I thought the first couple of episodes of Salvation were pretty good, but it quickly devolved into melodrama and of course a weird anti Trump subplot. By the second season it was garbage.

Anti-trump subplot?!?! Maybe I should give it another go!

I'm not sure what worked for you but the "science" is total crap. I often found the dialogue to be so bad and full of drivel that it was painful and I finally had to turn it off.

And for christ's sake, haven't we beat the young genius discovers "world-ending event" to death!!! Then we have the super genius renegade who is smarter than anyone else. They should have just had Bruce Willis play the part.

Just a hint of creativity would help.

I said that only the first couple of episodes were good.

The Trump angle was the female President being overthrown in a coup by "him." They wasted a lot of time on that ridiculous plotline, but at the time, a lot of TV shows were unhinged about Trump and wrote it into their scripts. Homeland was the worst. They destroyed that show over Trump.

I watched that show regularly for years. It was always fun when they made a valuable discovery! Of course it led me to check everything I own for antique value. But no luck. I have a glass, gold-painted plate from the 1904 World's Fair in St Louis. It is in pristine condition and thought it might have value. Turns out they gave one away with every sandwich and it is virtually worthless LOL! But it hung on the wall in my grandparent's house since long before I was born. I was fascinated with it as a young child and it is one of my earliest memories. From my point of view as a child, it might has well have been 500 years old. LOL!

Or you are just seeing liberal shadows peeking around every corner ;) Maybe plots like these have always been stories of American values but now you know who the villain is and it bothers you because you supported that monster. I understand why you would have a guilt complex.

Sky One had Karl Pilkington's The Moaning of Life on, was alright, flipped over half way through though to Comedy Central, and to my surprise, The Ricky Gervais Show is on, starring Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant.

I wonder if these companies do that on purpose, giving everybody a Karl Pilkington fix at this scheduled time.

That went off the rails quickly. You can't even talk about TV shows with a Progressive without them going crazy.

    Have a good day sir.

Baywatch, it's on in the background, but I am half watching it.
Every episode of this is new to me because I've never seen them before.
Right now it's S04 E01 Race Against Time
Before that I caught the latter half of S03 E22 Fatal Exchange
(2 episodes, back to back win). Comedy Central (UK).

Last night I watched The Mothman of Point Pleasant, on Prime. It is the allegedly trued story on which the movie, the Mothman Prophesies, was based.
    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6417144/reviews

I haven't had a chance to do a review of the claimed evidence, namely eyewitness testimony and old news paper reports, but it appears to be a documentary where actual witnesses give their first-hand accounts. If so then the story is quite striking. There is much more to it than I realized and it does lead to a surprising and unavoidable conclusion, if true.

You said you stopped watching 2 shows because they went anti trump! LOL. And I'm sure it was only anti-trump based on a highly skewed perspective. So don't try to pull a trump and make this about me.

Having trouble with reality, I see.

Oo, SNL is on Sky Comedy.
It's last night's episode, but since it was a Valentine's Day episode, and it's Valentine's Day here, that's cool.
I didn't know we got that show to be honest.

Regina King is hosting it in the back ground doing a sketch with Kenan.

Got me thinking, 'the Queen', Regina King, maybe we make her the Princess of Wales and make her and her heirs inherit the throne, just because her name is so regal 'Regina King'.
Random thought tonight watching last night's SNL in the UK today.
'Sunday Night Last-Night' j/k, but yeah, Saturday Night Live is on.

I wonder if, UK only gets things 1 day behind America is because of our timezone is before America and they don't want UK getting a show before them so they get it then we get it the next day because we're +5/+6C and another country so if we got the same shows the same night, things would have to then be shown 5 hours before (or 6 hours before) their domestic debut and the UK is all foreign with foreign advertising so if it leaked online 1st, why would anyone watch TV instead of online via proxy, so I guess that's why it's UK next day, which is an observation and it never used to be the way.
In general, in the case of a live show like SNL however, if we got that live, it'll be on at 4:30 am here.

That drugged out cop sketch is on, lmao.

    Oo, Gold painted Gibson.

I enjoyed it a lot. It's short, and comes to a conclusion. That worked well for me.

I love how the characters react to the phenomenon as one might expect. One of my real pet peeves in science fiction is that the emotional reactions to situations are often muted. In real life people would be freaking out.

They haven't given it away yet but I'm pretty sure I knew what was up with Vic as soon as he got in his accident.

Just finished watching season 3 of Star Trek Discovery. A little better than I expected. I like the fact that they are now in the 32nd century so they no longer mess with Trek history. Still my least favorite Star Trek series but I did grow to like the Georgiou character. I hope she returns to the Picard or Pike time period for the Section 31 series.

No no no!!! It can't end this way.

Not so much the nature of the ending, rather the method.

Grrrrrr. I seem to have a thing for Aussie women. I could fall for every one I sarw.

Me!! Loved it as well. Nothing too serious or challenging, but a great storyline!

More and more, I find I am interested in something to binge. There needs to be multiple seasons to watch. Knightfall was enjoyable enough. The latest was Queen of the South. Simple, easy watching and at least one more season to come.

A couple of weeks ago I watched Marco Polo. It wasn't hard to see Weinstein's 'influence' in it. But the Weinstein 'effect' had it end without resolution. Thoroughly unsatisfactory.

That's the only way I watch now. I always hated having to wait for NEXT WEEK. SAME BAT TIME. SAME BAT CHANNEL. But at first I didn't think to check how many seasons were made. I'd get hooked on something and it would end after 2 seasons! AH CRAP!

Loved Russian Doll, The OA, Stranger Things, Glitch, Queen's Gambit, Black Mirror, The Kominsky Method... so many great and/or highly creative series out there these days.

    As mentioned, Fleabag was great.
