For those who believe in the Christian mythos, you should remember that little incident in the Bible where Moses goes up the mountain to talk to God. It was in the days when God had to wait around for a clear line that it could take days. The children of Israel just had to be patient and await Moses' return. Well, the children of Israel grew impatient and scared, so they hedged their bets, pooled all their gold together, and melted it to make a Golden Calf....and that was when things went downhill for the children of Israel. It took them 40 years to get over that one.

Can we expect the same with this modern-day Golden Calf?

I've seen this in a number of threads and I'm pretty sure the whole thing was meant to be a derisive mocking of Donald Trump.

So? What makes you think all or even most conservatives support Donald Trump?

    Well, there's this:

Recent polling data reinforces Mr. Trump's formidability: A recent CBS News poll found 73% of Republicans said it was very or somewhat important that the GOP show loyalty to Trump. A Politico/Morning Consult poll conducted after his recent impeachment trial found 81% of Republicans approve of Trump. And an Economist/YouGov poll published this week found 48% of Republicans wouldn't vote for a congressional or gubernatorial candidate who is critical of the former president.

Polling on such matters is not reliable.

Jesus, I'd heard about the statue, but seeing it now... that looks hideous! That can't possibly be anything but a cruel joke.

The artist seems to think he's created something honoring Trump: https://www.cbs58.com/news/golden-trump-statue-turns-heads-at-cpac

This has got to be a Borat character or something. No way that statue is actually intended to be flattering of Trump.

A Constitution in one hand and a magic fairy wand in the other? WTF? Are those flag drawers? This is pretty hilarious.

I don't think I've ever seen anything more garish. It's going to take me a few days to delete that mental image. Geebus! I'm gonna have nightmares tonight!

Trump would think so. He likes gold stuff, even gold toilet seats.

Another bit of evidence are the state Republican committees who have been censuring those who have spoken out against Trump, or voted against him in impeachment. My own state of PA has Republican committees and state organizations up-in-arms over Pat Toomey's vote for impeachment of Trump, and he's not even running for reelection. Arizona Republicans censured Cindy McCain who isn't and has never been in public office.

These are more than just polls. They are actions taken.

I don't think those actions are meant to be in support of Donald Trump. I think they are meant to show Republicans that they should not act against fellow Republicans.

Whatever the artist's intent, I don't like the piece. Good or not, no one worships it. The wand refers to Obama asking sarcastically if Trump would wave a magic wand or something to bring manufacturing back to the US.

That's a self-contradicting statement. You were shown that the few Republicans who have voted or spoken out against Trump are being censured by their own Party, and you see the backlash as being against their act of soecking out? You're trying to make two wrongs into a right.

However, speaking one's mind and voting according to one's conscience should not have been cause for such censure in the first place.

The bottom line is that right now, any Republican who criticizes Trump is on the outs with most of the party. Yes, it's that bad.

Actually they do. Plus the fact everyone is there for Trump, who's speaking tomorrow. "Give us a bottle of your best Clorox, chilled please." Lol. Can't wait.

And of course, there's that golden thing. Hilarious.

You stick with that excuse for not acknowledging truth. It seems to work for many on the right.
