Apparently, raising the minimum wage through the Covid relief bill was within the power of VP Harris but wouldn't. How does that correspond to what she said while campaigning?

She seemed pretty adamant about the $15 hr minimum wage to get votes then when in a position to do something about it she flip flops. Real trust worthy isn't she. If Biden loses it the rest of the way and puts him in the rubber oval office, you can expect much more of the same from Harris. In order to keep the hard left base of the Democrat party any candidate must make outlandish promises they can never keep. There was Obama promising closing Gitmo in his first 100 days and immigration reform in his first year. Democrats had a large majority in both houses and still failed to act on either. In fact they didn't even vote on immigration reform until the December after the mid-term AFTER the Democrats lost the house in a landslide. Harris and Biden are career politicians, your getting what you voted for.

Michelle Obama Kamala Harris is now in charge of the minimum wage structure? When did that happen? Jeeze, I may have to get back into the cheap labor market.

This isn't news. Biden conceded the minimum wage last week. He respects the Senate's decision.

It's a brilliant political move. Biden has the public on his side with this, and the Republicans know it. Romney and Cotton have proposed $10/hr. That's too little. Both sides will hash it out somewhere in the middle. Biden avoids yet again being criticized as a puppet of the left, the Democrats don't get blamed for ramming it through, and Biden takes credit for bi-partisanship. Win-win-win.

Someday you'll accept that Biden isn't progressive.

Read the article. The point is Harris had the power to keep the $15 minimum wage in the Covid Relief bill but wouldn't.

Doesn't sound that way to me. Was he lying, making a false statement, or mis-statement?

Biden is a print money until you die Democrat we get that. He wants us all to be free money millionaires, I get that too. I just worry about all the trees that are going to die because we're printing that much money.

Only on Fantasy Island. Democrats have been the fiscally responsible party for 40 years. Compare Obama's deficit with Trump's.

Fiscally responsible right, as more and more fake money is spent in the last year than in the entire history of the country. But you know that don't you? You don't need any reminders. BTW Pubs and Dems are two sides of the same party. In case you got confused.

Let me get this straight... the Democrats, who weep such bitter tears over the plight of minimum wage earners would prefer they remain at 7.25/hr. rather than get 10/hr.? Yessir, it's true, there IS a sucker born every minute, the past election results bear that out.

It's the definition of lowering expectations. The Biden Administration is already lowering the bar IT set. Whatever you want to say about the "orange man", his expectations were either met or not at all.

That's comical first the left criticizes Trump for not doing enough to stop Covid then criticizes him for spending enough to get a vaccine done in less than a year. That's some logic.

If they left it in the bill would have needed 60 votes to pass not a simple majority.

I think the author need to do a little more research - Harris can’t arbitrarily override Senate rules.

Much wiser to make congressional republicans vote on a stand alone bill anyway.

Take that up with Harris she could have made sure the minimum wage stayed in the bill but didn't.

However, Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough, a nonpartisan interpreter of chamber rules, recently said that it did not meet the requirements of reconciliation.

Sounds cut and dry. They shouldn’t be overruling the parliamentarian for this.

    You making minimum wage?

That's a lot of stay at homes for the mid-term.

Pramila Jayapal Says Dems Have to Deliver on $15 Minimum Wage Because 'Voters Trusted Us'

She must have run on that in her district and knows she'll get the boot in 2022 if they don't deliver.

It's not Harris' decision to make. You can scream all you want, the VP carries out the policy of the prez. The POTUS conceded the minimum wage. End of story.
