Yes it will, with the vaccines coming out, we should see a serious change by mid year, not over by any means.
The vaccines will make a serious impact.

USA COVID-19 statistical analysis for EOM February, 2021 (2021-02-028 )
(UTC +0, Greenwich = 20:00 UTC -5, East Coast of the USA)

    ֍֍****** 29,258,551 ******֍֍
    THE USA DATA IS FINAL
    +55,727 daily cases / +1,108 daily deaths
+2,488,778 cases over the month before () / +73,842 deaths over the month before ()
THE USA ADDED 2.5 MILLION MORE TOTAL COVID-19 CASES & 73,500 MORE DEATHS IN JANUARY

    USA 7-day rolling averages:
    +70,447 new C19 cases per day (➘) one month ago: +152,521 / +2,092 deaths per day ( one month ago: +3,258 )

    ---------------------------------------------------------
The number of serious/critical (ICU) cases in the USA: 14,783 ( one month ago: 24,323 )
Total USA C19 tests administered: at month's end, the USA was just under 360,000,000 total tests

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 000.png

In the second month of 2021, we saw an enormous reduction in +cases and +deaths over the month before.

    The 4-Rubriks Worksheet:

First, here the rubrik table for the last two weeks of January, 2021
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 013 - rubrik worktable 001.png
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 013 - rubrik worktable 002.png
The first two weeks can be found at the mid-month report from 2021-02-014.

For the USA monthly analyses, I now gauge:
    1.) total cases to date
    2.) +monthly cases
    3.) total tests to date
    4.) +monthly tests
    5.) positivity rate
    6.) total deaths to date
    7.) +monthly deaths
    8.) mortality rate

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, Total cases:
You can see the WorldOMeter's screenshot at the overflow link above. This here is exactly the same data, input into my monthly compare excel table just for the USA:

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 003 - total cases.png
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 004 - total cases.png

The nice thing about this format is that the territories are not necessarily shunted off to the bottom of the table. For instance, US Military and Veterans Affairs are ranks 35 and 36.

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, + monthly cases,

Here the monthly +cases, something you cannot see at WorldOMeter:

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 004b -plus cases.png
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 004c -plus cases.png

As you can see, 5 states within the Union saw more than +100,000 fresh C19 infections during February 2021, far less than the 16 states that did the same one month ago.
COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, total performed tests:

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, + monthly tests:

The order of total tests you can find at worldometers, but here, the +tests (monthly), which you cannot find at WorldOMeter:

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, POSITIVITY RATE:

The positivity rate is something that WorldOMeter does not show, but it is very easy to calculate.

Ignore the top 5 - that's just the excel table going crazy due to a lack of data, but as of row 8 down to row 31, now that is some serious positivity going on. The state of Indiana is closest to the national positivity rate.

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, total deaths:
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 005 - total deaths.png
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 USA 006 - total deaths.png

49 Units now have at least 1,000 C19 deaths apiece. California surged over 50,000 total C19 deaths, the first state within any nation of the world to do this.

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, + monthly deaths:

California suffered +11,289 deaths in February 2021, more than 15.36% of all +deaths in the USA in this month.

COVID-19 in the USA, by all 57 UNITS, Mortality Rate:

Also, the end data for the country of Spain:

    SPAIN
    *** 3,198,223 ***
    +4,350 daily cases / +1156 daily deaths
+371,361 cases over the month before / +10,627 deaths over the month before

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 SPAIN 000.png

IN CONCLUSION: wash your hands, wear a face-mask, get vaccinated as soon as you can, maintain physical distancing and stay hopeful and positive.

WORLDWIDE COVID-19 statistical analysis for EOM February, 2021 (2021-02-028 )
(UTC +0, Greenwich = 20:00 UTC -5, East Coast of the USA)

    Published March 2, 2021
    WORLDWIDE:
    Ώ֍**** 114,708,119 ****֍Ώ

THE WORLDWIDE DATA FOR FEBRUARY 2021 IS FINAL
    +342,576 daily cases / +6,517 daily deaths

+11,178,871 cases over the month before (➘) / +305,412 deaths over the month before ()

    Fixed-statistics at EOM FEB 2021:
    TOTAL C19 cases: 83 nations with 100,000+, 21 nations with 1,000,000+, 3 nations with 10,000,000+.
Czechia and Netherlands went over the 1,000,000 C19-case mark during February 2021.
The USA is fast approaching 30,000,000 total C19 cases.

There have now been 2,543,220 COVID-19 deaths worldwide, the world crossed over 2,500,000 deaths on 2021-02-024.
The USA crossed over 500,000 deaths on 2021-02-017.
For monthly deaths (top 28 nations) over January 2021, see: new monthly calculation table below.

Worldwide 7-day rolling averages: +393,533 new C19 cases per day (was: +539,057) / +9,339 deaths per day (was: +14,204)
    ---------------------------------------------------------

The number of serious/critical (ICU) cases worldwide: 90,291 (one month ago: 107,991)
EIGHTY-NINE nations on Earth have now administered +1,000,0000 (or far more) C19 tests.
Combined, the top 28 nations have performed a total of 1.7 BILLION tests.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    STAT'S EXCEL-TABLE:

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 000.png

The big news of February 2021 is that the fever of the Winter-Wave has most definitely broken and we see hard evidence that cases (and deaths) are receding pretty much everywhere across the world. That notwithstanding, a number of the top 28 nations I am tracking continued to march upward in the C19 tree:

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 021 - tracking tree.png

    The 4-Rubriks Worksheet:
Here the last two weeks of February, 2021:
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 000 - rubrik worktable 001.png
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 000 - rubrik worktable 002.png

The top 28 nations (all in my current tracking) within the worldwide figures:

Here the screenshots of the excel tables for 28 top nations nations alongside the worldwide figures today can be found in the pre-analysis reports:

    EOM Pre-analysis tables, Part 1 for 2021-02-028, posted 2021-03-001,18:07 UTC +1, #13200.
    EOM Pre-analysis tables, Part 2 for 2021-02-028, posted 2021-03-001, 18:17 UTC +1, #13201.
    EOM Pre-analysis tables, Part 2 for 2021-02-028, posted 2021-03-001, 18:25 UTC +1, #13202.

And the EOM analysis just for the USA: USA EOM analysis for 2021-01-031, posted 2021-03-002, 07:04 UTC +1, #13205

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 000 - top 28 total cases, deaths, recovereds, actives.png

Here we can see that at the end of February 2021, the top 28 nations accounted for 83.09% of all the world's cases (it was 83.37% end of January), 85.76% of all the world's deaths (exactly the same percentage end of January), 83.61% of the officially listed recoveries (it was 83.56% end of January) and 84.16% of the still-active, not-yet-recovered cases across the world (it was 75.54% end of January, a sizeable jump in February). So, you see, by tracking the top nations so intensively means that I have effectively been covering more than 4/5 of the world's C19 activity.

In the pre-analysis tables and the USA analysis (and also for the worldwide figures at the very top of this analysis), you will see that I have introduced three types of arrows: ➚ ➘ ➙ (up, down and steady). Those arrows represent whether the +values (cases, deaths, tests) you see are more, less or relatively equal to the same values for the month before. It's a shorthand method for tracking the "changes within the changes". But I have been keeping track of that mathematically for a good while now, down to the last digit, here:

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 000 - top 28 001.png
    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 000 - top 28 002.png

In the bottom table, calculating the +cases / +deaths DIFFERENCE over the same for the month before, anything over the blue line was a driver of the surge and anything below the blue line was a detractor from the surge. Here you can see that virtually everything is under the blue line and the growth rates are in massive negative territory, a very positive development.

    WORLDWIDE TOTAL STATISTICS BY CONTINENT:
All of the screenshots of the continental data are at the overflow link at the top of the analysis. Here is the distillation of the top-line data for the continents:

    2021-02-028 COVID-19 Worldwide 020 - by continent - Summary stats.png

As was the case at EOY 2020, Europe and North America pretty much tie in total cases and total deaths, taking ranks 1 and 2. In terms of recovered cases, Europe has upseated Asia and moved to rank 1, a surprising development; in terms of active cases, Europe and the USA are together circa 88% of all such cases. In all four rubriks, Africa and Ozeana take rank 5 and 6, respectively.

So, keeping it more concise these days....our goal is for every country to be more and more like Oceana, where not hardly a case can be found, and just as few deaths.

Damn, this end of month stuff is a helluva lot of numbers crunching. My eyes hurt. I think that the only thing that can help is a voluptuous brunette with very large breasts. That is always salve for my eyes!!!

Now the holiday wave is over. It slowed in Feb. Has nothing to do with vaccination. Rep States are opening up again, despite of the spread of the UK mutant.
Next holiday is coming end of March, people letting the guard down. This is going to be fun.

In Germany one of the big discussions is Eastern Vacation, the US Spring Break.
The poor people have to go on vacation and how cruel it would be if they are denied.
    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

One just has to take a look at Portugal, what happens if you open up for vacations, it got hammered.
They locked the country down so hard it was not even funny.

What is it, 3 more month, till a good vaccination rate has been accomplished. I do not get it.

Mutti gets it, at least till March 28 and than we talk again.

I call myself one of the lucky few, because I have my 2. vaccination. 2 Weeks and I am very well protected. Will I continue to wear a mask, past the 2 weeks?
Naturally, at work and in stores which require them, ask to wear one, its simply good behavior.
No faceshield any more, for sure

What is wrong with people, why is it so difficult to just behave for once. In this case they might save their neighbor, be a good citizens.

I have a hard time with this egoistic attitude.

This is what I do not get, I am German, living here, its not my country, but it is my society, my hood, us, US.
I do good, you do good, I do you good, I do good, you do good, I do good, you do me good, I do good and that gives me freedom, gives you freedom.
    Freedom is earned, not given.
Its not a birthright, it needs to be earned every day.
I think that is what got lost, to spoiled, maybe.

    JFK understood it.

Yes it will end. 5 weeks ago I had no idea when I could get a vaccine and than it went just flutsh, like this. I was just stunned by it. I am in a very high risk business and 65 plus, the high risk was not the cause, it was age and because so many people refuse, extra vaccines available, no takers, so I was able to get moved up.

Just relax, keep up your routine for a few more weeks and than that huge rock on your heart will come down.

There is no doubt that this pandemic will end, at least in the form we have known.

@gnoib is right: the winter wave receded NOT because of suddenly ramped-up vaccinations. It receded in most all of the world and most other countries are not nearly as far along with vaccinations as the USA, ergo, the beginning of vaccinations was not the cause of the end of the wave, but rather, lockdowns. In France, localities are already lifting lockdown and guess what happened? The numbers shot back up immediately. So, the virus is still out there, make no mistake about it.

The USA now looks like it looked at the heighth of it's second wave (after July 4th), but in comparison to the winter wave, it looks like heaven on Earth. Only, that look is just that: it's only a look, nothing more.

Open up too early, before we are closing in on herd immunity, and the USA risks a 4th wave.

And what a ****ing shame that would be because yesterday, for the 1st time in FIVE FULL MONTHS, the USA did not lead as No. 1 in +cases, but rather, Brazil.

This reprieve from 1st place may be very short-lived.

Pres. Biden is very right about his estimates of when we will have enough vaccine for all Americans (May), but then you need to calculate at least 5-6 weeks into that in order to get every last shot into every last arm.

So, we are looking at a narrow tunnel to "normal" starting in June, 2021, but only if we all play our cards well.

The tragic will be that States like Texas are opening up, 100%.
Just when we see a small light at the end of the tunnel.

    How stupid is that ?

    Exactly
The state says no longer need to wear masks, open up 100% but maintain social distance.
