why are you using two different nouns for so called african americans ? can you use one or the other please since im not sure if youre attempting to differentiate or not.

anyway, to answer your question, yes, they already know Nats descendants.

Did anybody hear about the interview President Obama had a few days ago with Bruce Springsteen? During this interview Obama said he supports reparations for the descendants of African slaves! He said the only reason he bring it up while he was President was because there was too much "White resistance".
He must think this law has a good chance of passing now, or why would he mention it?
    Stay tuned, folks.

According to Mr Sandy Darity, an expert on reparation issues, reparations should be given to:
    1) Anyone who can prove they had at least one slave ancestor.
    2) And that person has publicly identified as Black for the last 10 years.

It would be nice if President Biden could use an Executive Order to pass the reparations bill. That would save a lot of time. :)

I think that poster is starved for attention.
What do you think about Obama speaking up in favor of reparations? I wish he would have supported reparations while he was still President.

How does one publicly identify? Why is that important?

So a white person with one drop of slave blood, who can somehow convince the authority that they 'identify' as black, gets a prize - while the dark brown person with with no means of proving ancestry, misses out?

No matter how they do it, it will be an abomination. You cannot mess with this race sh!t without making yourself a eugenicist, or in the case of acceptance of self-identification, a nutjob AND a eugenicist.

It's a BS attempt to seem less like the guy from Austria.

Edited to say that 'self-identification' itself is massive BS.

No, it's more that you're thoroughly discomforted every time someone spotlights the eugenics. Of course you don't want to hear it.

With "self Identification," I would guess Rachel Dolezal would qualify for reparations. She's certainly identified as Black much longer than 10 years.

It's important because it would prevent someone with 3% African genes who lives as a White person from suddenly saying they are now Black just to get reparations.

No, she wouldn't qualify unless she can also prove she had at least one enslaved ancestor.
Both tests have to be met. See how easy that is? ;)

Oh it's not easy at all. You have no criteria for publicly identifying. Here you go, I publicly identify as African American. Now in ten years I can use this post to prove my bona fides.

The real tough nut to crack is finding documentary evidence that you descended from an enslaved ancestor. I think rich people will be able to afford the genealogical research, but the the poor won't. Good luck!

Yes, it is easy. If the person has lived as a Black person for 10 years and can prove they have at least one ancestor who was enslaved, they qualify.
How would that be hard? An ancestry DNA test costs about $100 bucks. My daughter gave me one for Christmas year before last.
But, I knew my family history even before I got the DNA kit.
Sorry, Lil Mike. Looks like our reparations are in the works. Remember when you said it wouldn't happen?

Now, I am not going to address this question again. Have a day.

Moriah you KNOW this is BS.

There are pages of bumph here about African Americans not being able to pay $20 for photo ID, and endless diatribes about the poverty of Black Americans. Now you're sneeringly suggesting that because your family can afford to give $100 gifts, all that can be ignored? It makes you look flakey as hell.

not flakey, youre acting salty though. THIS IS THE START! what then happens is a business is born of helping black americans trace their heritage for a 20% cut of the payment if any evidence is found. or you can just go it alone and get the $1m cheque all for yourself.

Ancestry DNA doesn't tell whether the ancestor is enslaved in the United States or not. For example, Obama's DNA will identify him as half Luo, but it won't say if he had an enslaved ancestor in the US (hint: he didn't).

There are at least 6 million white people (self identified) who have African DNA. Under the rules as you've described them, they should prepare to get their checks!

My predictions on reparations have been pretty spot on so far. So I'll continue by saying that it will continue to be a political issue that's unlikely to ever turn into a real program, and if it hasn't been done by 2043 (your rapture), it will never be done.

any kind of reparations is unconstitutional proposition
this is a United States there is a U.S. Constitution and rule of law.
Equal Protection clause is still on the book, last time I check.
