Texas is home to some of the most crackpot politicians in the country?!!

The CDC, caution about lifting restrictions to soon too?!!

And by the way Texas is one of the ten states, where covid numbers are spiking again?!!

[IMG]AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas is lifting its mask mandate, Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday, making it the largest state to end an order intended to prevent the spread of the coronavirus that has killed more than 42,000 Texans.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott has faced sustained criticism from his party over the statewide mask mandate, which was imposed eight months ago, as well as other restrictions on businesses that Texas will also scuttle next week. The mask order was only ever lightly enforced, even during the worst outbreaks of the pandemic.

The state is removing limits on the number of diners or customers allowed inside businesses, Abbott said during a news conference at a restaurant in Lubbock. He said the new rules would take effect March 10, unleashing a wave of alarm from big city mayors and leaders along the U.S.-Mexico border, where the virus has been especially rampant.

“Removing statewide mandates does not end personal responsibility,” said Abbott, speaking from the crowded dining room where many surrounding him were not wearing masks.

I'm sure the Texans that survive will let the rest of us know how it worked out. :)

So you're not allowed to wear a mask? Those that need the government telling them what to do should also be required to wear a helmet.

BTW, Los Angeles went the opposite direction. Care to compare results?

Once again making me glad I don't live in Texas.... like I needed another reason...

I wouldn't change one thing I'm doing today to stay safe.... we'll see how Texans respond to being lied to (again)....

Let's see what the numbers do. People's lives are being destroyed by the heavy government controls. I'm curious about your cartoon there. How in your world-view does the government lifting controls on local municipalities equate to a heavy hand on municipalities?

The numbers have been manipulated for effect since this all began a year ago. Because there is $ and fear involved, it's likely they will continue to manipulate the numbers.

Herd immunity is here. The crisis exists only in the TV news and the minds of the frightened.

Less than 7% of Texans have been vaccinated. It doesn't seem safe to me. I wish them the best and hope this doesn't cause too many deaths.

What evidence do you have that the shot will confer immunity?

News reports from around the world tell stories of many occupants of nursing homes testing positive AFTER the shot. I agree the tests are useless, but still....

None! I mean how can that exist when its so new they don't even know how long it will last? Which is exactly why I think its too early to drop the masks.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news sir, but masks don't work as you think they work.

All lab tests conducted in this country from 1946 to about 2014 regarding the efficacy of masks in stopping the airborne transmission of flu virus have not been able to establish that they work.

Humans are superstitious and uninformed in that regard, plus they've been scared silly by a year of fear-mongering. In hypothetical situations a mask might work, but in real life, not so much. I know a handful of people who've become infected while wearing a mask faithfully, and there are bound to be many more.

If someone with covid walks by me and coughs and we are both wearing masks, and the same thing happens and there are NO masks, don't act like one option isn't safer, even if its a small percentage.

As I have already posted, a vast number of hypotheticals can be imagined.

Reality does not comply with hypothetical situations.

And scores more have had the virus and recovered. Your train of thought ends at wearing the damn things in perpetuity - despite risk levels dropping.

No it isn't HYPOTHETICAL. If someone blows a big snot wad on your face instead of in their mask, there is a difference. Its called the laws of physics. You can stop going back and fourth with me now as its getting old. You believe what you want and I'll believe what I want. You are free to think of me as some sucker, government slave for continuing to wear masks. Its fine. That's the beauty of a free country.

I don't really agree with that logic. That's like saying there's been a drop in HIV infected prostitutes so stop using condoms with prostitutes, Just saying, your "risk decreasing" point still doesn't = safety.

You do not understand the meaning of the word 'hypothetical'. Inform yourself.

"safety" is ALWAYS a function of risk. Hello? I'll tell you what though, feel free to wear that damn thing on your face forever. No one will make you take it off.
