One side represents the rejection of common sense restrictions on gun possession while pretending gun control advocates are trying to take their guns away.
So, between open carry and concealed carry, if only one were allowed, you would prefer open carry? Me too. In the US, there tends to be more push to ban open carry than concealed, suggesting folks here tend to be more bothered by their own emotional response to a legally armed civilian than any danger an armed civilian may actually pose.
Some gun advocates are their own worst enemy. I am a gun owner and I would never create such a spectacle. It doesn't help at all.
Our state issues carry permits to any law abiding adult that applies for one but it bans open carry. They feel the sight of a gun intimidates people so they want the guns concealed. I agree with it. There should be no reason to call attention to a gun unless it is being used.
Frankly I don't think there's ANYTHING that ANY DEMOCRAT could do or propose that he would not defend with Trump whataboutism.....soooooo boring.
Enhanced background checks, a waiting period before a gun purchase, end gun shows, things like high capacity clips being banned, eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers, banning assault weapons, banning open carry of assault weapons, mandatory trigger locks, gun owners being held accountable if reckless storage results in their gun being stolen and used to commit a crime,..........
Here in Virginia we still have open carry (which no doubt the Dem controlled legislature will see to this year) which I much prefer. I personally find concealed carry never translates to comfortable carry, so's for me it's a micro-auto in a front pocket holster.
You dont have any such right to dictate how others practice a right. But thanks for the validation of my OP.
What more do you think we need on background checks? There already is a waiting period. Why end gun shows? You cant just legally buy one with no BC check. You want gun manufactures to be sued into bankruptcy? What other industries do you support doing the same to? So if you live alone or with adults and someone breaks in your home you want a trigger lock? So you basically want to deny others the right to effective self defense? Thanks for validating my OP.
Why would the sight of a gun intimidate people? Or, more to the point, why arent those same people intimidated by knowing theres folks concealing guns?
This one seems a little far fetched. Some people are gun enthusiasts. You can kill people with cars but they aren't gonna ban car shows.
We have enhanced background checks, you are not informed.. Many states have waiting periods, again you lack information on current gun restrictions.. Also in todays technology why would you think or believe it takes any waiting period at all to check a buyers history? Why end gun shows, I clearly gave you my experience buying several weapons at gun shows and each and every time I was run thru Ice and the FBI database.. All you need to do is read the stipulation to any gun show in your area to see what it takes to rent a booth, sell guns/ammo in your state.. I bet you don't find any that simply allow Joe-Blow off the street to rent and sell firearms at gun shows, again you are misinformed.. So are to hold all manufacturers to the same standards? How many people killed by cars, how many killed by folk drunk and driving? What good is a trigger lock if the weapon is to be used for self defense? We already have clip size limits in many states, does that stop china "To name just ONE" from selling 20/60/100 round clips in the U.S.! Why ban open carry, what better way to signify a person is armed, I would think CC would be more of concern to someone then the other.. So you want all these gun owner to be held to fault if their weapon is stolen by a CRIMINAL B&E, well that about sums up the same old tired nonsense every person that doesn't really know all that much about gun ownership or current laws...
By this logic, anyone who thinks anything should illegal represents tyrannical dictatorship. And yet 8 people clicked "like" for this post. Did they not read it, or did they just not think about it when they saw they liked the conclusion?
It doesn't make sense to refuse a restriction on the grounds that a much more extensive restriction would be a bad thing. It would be like refusing to have a speed limit, because if the speed limit became zero, that would be awful.
I pointed it out in another thread and you showed your support for the gun ban by saying "Good for CA"
For a lot of people, on all sides of politics, being noticed expressing yourself is more important than convincing other people. For most issues, there are advocates on both sides who are the worst enemy of their own position. Good on you for being able to notice your own side being counterproductive. Noticing it on your own side is always hardest. The confrontational atmosphere of this forum probably doesn't help!
