But the Left is not not pushing Marxism. That is just silly conservative talk. More to do with your ideology than what the Left actually stands for.

ALL Gerrymandering is bad, and I agree Va has some, although Va is rarely mentioned as the worst examples in the country.

    https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/most-gerrymandered-states

Both sides do it and it's wrong each time...

EDIT - also on the Virginia 3rd...

    SNIP
The 3rd and 4th districts of Virginia have been redrawn by U.S. District Court order and sustained by the Supreme Court on appeal. See map above for the current boundaries of these districts.

It was a religious thing. If people are out drinking and looking for a new car, they aren’t sitting in church. Plus, apparently car salesmen often double as preachers. Or is it that preachers often double as car salesmen. Seems like a similar skill set.

Socrates was judged by 500 leading citizens, and had a trial. It was nothing like the mob that tried to overturn the election on January 6, 2021.

The Republican Party is a minority party. Most Americans do not like Republican rule. Most of the unfavorable views of Congress, has to do with the obstructionism of the Republicans. Republicans can only win through shenanigans. The Arizona GOP lawyers said as much In the Supreme Court, defending their voter suppression efforts.

During all the protests in Portland, the prosecutors have declined to prosecute most of those arrested, feeling their crimes, almost all minor misdemeanors, not worth pursuing. The 400 or so identified Capital insurrectionists are likely to see years in prison. Your pretending it was not serious is little more than denial.

I was listening to the Supreme Court hearing on the Arizona voter suppression case. The Arizona GOP lawyer, pretty much insisted that the Republicans could only win in Arizona, if they limited, those who could vote. The Right’s new darling, Amy Barrett is turning out to not be what they thought, as she seemed to be the most bothered by the Republican’s stance on the matter.

What part of 'idiots' was unclear for you? I do not support what they did in DC.

Since I'm not a Republican, nor a Democrat, I likely have a unobstructed view of most things. I lean Conservative, that doesn't mean I don't have moderate Liberal views on somethings, but to say 'most Americans do not like Republican rule' is stretching the truth a bit. There is a good portion of Americans who aren't pleased with either party at this point.

So, do you prefer minority rule? Where a small number of people make the rules for a larger group of people.

Is that not the game that is being played now? Oh they were just some idiots. Not at all associated with the mainstream conservatism. It is not exactly truth. I’m sure, had the insurrection succeeded, conservatives all across the country would be cheering right now.

A most unpersuasive defense of mob "justice".

That's like saying it's okay for the Klan to lynch someone because the majority of simians in the local klavern agreed to do so.

While you're defending the indefensible, would you care to defend that Athenian mob's decision to massacre every man on Melos and sell the women and children into slavery, too?

I agree. The Athenian mob was far worse, and that mob was fortunate that the Spartans didn't deliver on its fear that Athens would get treated the same way it treated Melos.

Nope. Other than a reduction in government overall, a Democratic Republic works fine for me.

Since we're asking silly questions, do you prefer mob rule?

Assumptions won't get you very far.

They were idiots. Do you think they were Mensa? No, actually, they were individuals who chose to do extremely stupid things, which the majority of Conservatives would not have done, and don't support.

Call it an 'insurrection' if it makes you happy, but those idiots likely couldn't find their butt with both hands.

The insurrectionists were playing off of the same mistruths that the majority of Republicans believe. That there was widespread voter fraud. That the election was stolen from the greatest bestest president ever. There are Senators who have been educated at the finest schools in America who spout the same silliness. It is not idiots at play. It was purposeful, but it failed. It just may be, that the Capital police were just a little too good at their jobs, just a little better than the Republicans had anticipated.

You haven't been keeping up with the news, apparently.
Wray says FBI field office report was passed to law enforcement partners ahead of Jan. 6 attack (yahoo.com)
FBI and DHS Were Warned About Jan. 6. They Didn’t Prepare a Threat Assessment. (truthout.org)

Since there was information out there, the idea that the idiots were influenced by Trumps speech falls a bit short.

So out of 71 million who voted for Trump, just how many actually supported the B&E on the Capitol?

Pa. Trumpster GOP Legislature hard at work trying to figure out how to limit the voting in the greater Philadelphia area and it's suburbs. They cannot win when the majority get to vote and they know it so they they blatantly try to cheat by limiting voting. Denying their fellow American citizens their constitutional right to vote which should be a federal crime.

Do you have a source? I would very much like to hear it!

That is one of the great things about SCOTUS being a lifetime appointment, it takes a special type of partisan — *cough* Thomas — to throw away their legacy for garbage like that. Amy will probably step in on other major issues (religious rights or abortion) but everything else will likely disappoint the right trying to openly dismantle democracy (hopefully).

I don’t recall exactly. Just clicked on something that led me there. However, oral arguments are available on the Supreme Court’s web site. I think you can even obtain a transcript there too, if you would rather read it.

The real reason was that auto dealers wanted a day off.

I want every US citizen to vote. I want them to do so as easily as possible and I want their vote to have the same weight as mine.

And yes. It is theft what y’all are trying to pull.
    A fraud.

You must be speaking to the wrong poster. I fully support US citizens being able to purchase guns as easily as possible.

I see you have tried to change the topic and have started making poor insults with no basis in reality. White flag noted.

Let me know if you want to try again but I understand if you don’t. Let me say it again, people wanting to make voting as difficult as possible are stealing those votes because you know your ideology has been flat out rejected by the people. You don’t want a democracy, you just want your will imposed.

I don't know how you can say the Republican Party is the minority party when at present there are only two factions of it. 85% are still pro Trump and 15% nostalgia.
