Here are some pictures I found showing some of the food being served to the National Guard protecting the Capitol. This is not something new that has just been happening under Biden. There are several reports I've seen of sub-standard meals provided to our service members over the past decade or more. MREs offer better a better option than this.

Many members of the military share a bit of at least a tongue-in-cheek opinion of "civilians". A smaller portion believe it fanatically.

"Do you know what the problem is with civilians Private?"

    "No Drill Sergeant!"

"You don't know what the problem is with civilians! Do you need me to tell you Private!?"

    "Yes Drill Sergeant!"

"The problem with civilians is that they are so sorry that they are not worth the cost of putting a round through their head!"

Given that the Pentagon represents the most powerful part of our society, I wonder, seriously, what are the chances that one day they just say f it and take over explicitly? I mean, they already have an enormous amount of implicit power, don't they?

    Is Power, Power?

I mean, they do get generous pensions at the end of it all but there's always been a need for military reform with regards to VA care for example(Congress finally addressed that. Let's say Congress addressed it to split the hair between Trump/Obama.). The idea of sub-par food for any human, let alone the military is utterly unacceptable. But our government cares too little for said citizens, let alone our proud men and women in the military.

The chances are zero. I think it is bullshit that they are getting shitty food while in a place that I am sure has very good food, but nobody is going to start a coup over it. If a civil war broke out, they might have to choose sides, but that would be civilians starting war, not the military.

There is a basic problem with those generous pensions. When we retire, many, if not most of us have skills which are not easily transferred to a civilian job. We end up starting at or near the bottom.

The VA is a disaster and the less said about it the better.

Feed the same food to Congress in their cafeteria and see how fast that changes.

It's at risk of civil war, not a coup.

Yeah I kind of doubt it to what end would it happen?
