The Ancestry DNA results I received clearly revealed that my first African ancestor was bought to Virginia around 1700. That first ancestor was from West Africa. So, my ancestors were enslaved for a long, long time.
Those Ancestry DNA tests are nice; they are worth every penny that they cost.

 

Tracing one's heritage has nothing to do with eugenics.

 

Only $2 millions? How about $200 millions and for African-Americans whose ancestors owned slaves double the amount - for additional suffering.

I'm white (nevermind the fact you ASSUME that means my ancestors owned slaves, at any point) I have to go to work from 10 pm to 6 am to keep a roof over my head, I have to pay my bills or things get shut off. Where is this "generational wealth" you speak of? Can I get some to pay my bills? I dont enjoy the reduced rent of section 8, I get no welfare of any sort, just pay taxes to fund it.

Also, slavery was a common form of the social system, it has nothing to do with race, countries were conquered and people of conquered country were slaves.

President Obama is working on getting reparations for the descendants of African slaves, no matter what our employment status is.

How does a DNA test tell you when your ancestors arrived on a certain piece of ground?

I've done a great deal of genealogy in my time, and that is a touch to the absurd side.

 

Uh, how do you know his or anyone elses ancestors owned slaves? it is unconstitutional to punish someone for a crime they did not commit. I have never owned another human being. No human being alive in the US has even been owned, thus reparations are unconstitutional.

 

Ask the Ancestry DNA people. They gave me the information on my ancestors.
I'm thinking they were able to determine when the first people who matched my DNA arrived in Virginia. They have millions of DNA matches. The information they gave me matched what I already knew, plus a few things I didn't know.
