Thing is, it doesn't matter. Just look at what happened to Pres Trump. His and the RNC's belligerent stance on masks and re-open crusading cost the right the Presidency and the Senate. It doesn't matter that Pres Biden is as inept on the border as he is on COVID, people believed he and the left would do better. From a strategic standpoint the right's COVID approach has been nothing short of moronic. Being pro-mask and pro-shutdown would have cost them NOTHING, it would have been an amazing political boon and they passed on it because they misread the country's attitude. Putting the deaths they helped cause aside (and believe me that alone is justification to vote them out) I just cant bring to myself to vote for people so flat out dumb that they literally handed the win to their opponents and got nothing in return.

No that would be indecent exposure, which is against the law. Nice visual though.

I'll be sure to watch out for any naked liberal a$$holes hovering over my beer at happy hour today. :)

Well, isn't indecent exposure a violation of rights?

Trump never took a belligerent stance on masks. He said he thought they were "fine". He never said, "Don't wear masks." He treated people like responsible independent adults who are capable of assessing risks and behaving accordingly.

Same things that Greg Abbott, Ron DeSantis and other red governors are doing.

Most of the businesses here are deciding whether they want to require masks of not, same as no shirt, no shoes no service.

Texas had a mask mandate from July until this week. The mandate did nothing to prevent a natural spike in cases, followed by a leveling off, and now a normal decrease.

If hospital statistics look like a spike may lead to a shortage of beds, new restrictions will be put in place. Not running out of beds was the original goal. It is still the main criteria and goal for most red states.

The left didn't believe Biden would do better. They cheated in 5-6 heavily Democrat cities in key swing states.

Are you suggesting that people have a right to pull their pants down in a restaurant and poop in a stranger's food?

    hahahahahaha!

I'm saying that if you have a right to not wear a mask these days, it makes less sense to not have a right to pull your pants down and poop on a stranger's food.

I mean, if I can't poop on your food, will you magically never catch any disease?

Exactly. See how stupid it is to remove mask mandates?

No. Your analogy doesn't make any sense, but I can't wait to talk about it today at happy hour. It'll have my BFF cracking up (and not with a butt crack). :p

For the same reason you can't cough or sneeze in my face or plant a big wet kiss on my mouth. The latter three would be the most common way to spreads, germs, bacteria, and viruses....and people don't tend to cough/sneeze on friends to hug and kiss strangers.

Pooping on someone's food is just silly, but thanks again for the hilarious liberal hairy-butt pooping in a public restaurant visual!!! Be sure to wash your hands. :roflol:

So, given that logic, why are you allowed to not wear a mask? Far more deadly disease is spread by not wearing a mask than pooping on meals. I mean, isn't it stupid that we have to cover some parts of our body but not others?

Oh, has pooping on people's food killed more than half a million Americans in the last year?

    Thing that are normal:

    Eating in restaurants.
    Pooping in restrooms.

You can't eat with a mask on. You can't poop with your pants on. (Well, you could, but I wouldn't recommend it.)

Everything in its place, and a place for everything ! :)

No, and neither has Covid. They "fudged" the numbers (pun intended).

So what you are saying is that requiring pants is a violation of people's right to poop where they want right?

That's true only in that it seems far more than half a million people have died over the average. So probably covid was more deadly.

Let me first say it was a good idea of yours to move our conversation, based on where it had brought us, from the Cruz/Cuomo thread, to this one (especially as I had just mentioned the Texas reopening).
Secondly, let me add that you still should have mentioned it, just in case I had assumed, when I saw your alert, that it was in the same thread as it has been, & so hadn't read the rest of the alert.

Luckily, I did notice but, at least out of courtesy, if not the possibility that I might make points that were intended for that previous thread & that wouldn't make sense, here-- for future reference-- it would always be appreciated to be given a heads-up.

As to your comment, above, it's nice to have a point we agree on, for a change. The other state following this route is Mississippi-- "good ol' #50." I call it that because of having heard someone from Louisiana (or Alabama) saying how much the citizens of their state appreciated Miss., every time their own state comes in 49th (from best to worst) on a rating of the states, because it gives them some condolence, to be able to say, "At least we're not Mississippi!"

In answer to both those questions, looking at the total number who died in states like Florida & Texas (as well as California & New York, which were both aggressive with mask mandates, business restrictions, & even full lockdowns, when warranted) I'd say that if requiring masks-- which I don't think either of these states ever did-- & erring on the side of preventing spreading of the virus, would have led to even 10% fewer deaths (& I'm sure it would have been more than triple that) which would have been 3200 & 4500, respectively, that would definitely have been sufficient incentive, in my book. How many years do you think it takes the roads & highways of each of those state to claim those levels of lives?

It's a shame I have to end on this one, but this is another one of your concise remarks which-- in your head, where you know exactly what you mean by it-- I'm sure sounds like a snappy reply; nevertheless it could really use a bit more for me to understand exactly what point you are trying to make. Can you see that?

You may have meant it only literally: that partial road closures don't happen. While that is actually incorrect (certain highway lanes will often be closed, while the other lanes remain open, resulting in slower drive times; cf. limiting the # of customers in a business at any one time, for example, or allowing a restaurant to remain open but only for take-out, etc.); but if you were only commenting on roads, there is no reason to argue the point. It seems possible, also, however, that you might have been trying to suggest that partial business close-downs make no sense, either (in your mind). How do I know what you're thinking, if we know that we don't think the same way on many of these Covid-related issues? Certainly not by your one-liner.

While I would strongly disagree, if the latter had been your intended meaning, I'm not going to go off on any more hunches, as I'd mentioned, previously. If you'd like to get my response to some particular point, make sure it is clear, OK?

Where are you getting the "10%" from?

Plus, you should also consider how many nursing home lives would have been saved in New York had they done things differently. One study suggests that it resulted in "possibly more than 1,000 additional resident deaths." https://www.empirecenter.org/publications/covid-positive-admissions-higher-death-rates/

Obviously more than a year, but I don't see why that's relevant. Millions of lives could have been saved over decades if the road system had been shut down. That's more significant than 3 or 4 thousand lives being saved in one year if Florida had a mask mandate.

Well my comment, "such partial road shut downs don't happen", was in relation to your list of possible road restrictions: "only during certain hours, and with exceptions for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other holidays, like the Superbowl, & Spring Break."

And these lane closures that you speak of - this is for road works isn't it?

I don't see how any of this is related to my comment, that Florida has less COVID death than a bunch of locked down Democrat States and which has the second oldest population in the country.

Joe Biden did NOT get 81 million votes and anyone who actually believes that, is worthy of some serious pity. That election was stolen. It will be interesting to see if they do it again in 2022. I have NO doubt they'll risk it in 2024 if Trump were to run again. They'll do ANYTHING to keep him or any other "outsider" from their little corrupt fiefdom.
