If women are capable of serving in combat roles, then why aren't they part of the draft?

    Why is LENGTH relevant?

If so, it makes him precisely like every other talking head. He used to (up until 11/3/20) rack up historic levels of audience numbers. Now, he routinely places second or third behind the hate-zombies at CNN and MSDNC. That crash and burn by Fox News were absolutely Homeric. Apparently, whoever made the decision to spit in the face of their viewer base by joining the electoral putsch, actually believed their audience would still be there the next day. That was kind of amazing to me. I had no idea they had executives who were woke in insanity ;) That little move cost the network BILLIONS.
As to the topic, I don't think there has been proof that most Americans would want their wives, daughters, and girlfriends subjected to the draft. I think those who are pushing for it are just in it for attention and to create hostility. Just more of the Leftist drive to create another wedge in our culture.

Volunteered? The draft isn't voluntary is it?

I was in the first group that was required to sign up. Born in 1960. The idea of drafting for military service is ridiculous in America today.

I'm not asking why the draft written in 1981 specifically applies to males.

Yes, I know. Those that were drafted got no say in what job they got, those that volunteered were often able to choose their job

because in 1981 men thought women were incapable of such things. Men thought they were incapable of running more than 1500 meters in the Olympics. We men have under valued women on a regular basis.

And for almost a decade after the draft ended there was no registration. Then it was brought back. In my opinion it was done so as a loyalty test.

18 or so would be a good age for boot camp. appropriate delays for education. "mid life" would only apply to people who had evaded/avoided/dodged conscription earlier in life. .

'Outraged Over Nothing' is a GOP core value. If they actually decide to write a party platform for 2024 rather than just recycle the 2016 version again it will have to devote a section to Pepe LePew, Dr Seuss & Mr Potatohead.

If only they had cared this much about stopping the spread of COVID.

Right...they aren’t included in also not getting drafted into the military. And?

You really don't expect an Aussie to be up to date on the finer points of American domestic policy, do you? Hell, he has a recent thread expressing complete bafflement over why we elect representatives every two years.

No one has been drafted because the size of the war zone has been small enough for the number of maneuver units we have to keep them on a rotation where units can relieve others in place so the other units can refit. As soon as a war zone is larger than the number of maneuver units we have that can adequately cover that area without relief or reinforcement, then the draft will have to start again. We've just been lucky that hasn't been the case. Since Vietnam, casualties in wars have been relatively low, and the battle space has been relatively small. There will very likely be need of a draft in the future. War is not going away. If anything it will get worse.

Wait...so if I understand, he is outraged about something in a country he doesn’t live in ? Oh for the love of christ I’ve heard it all now. He clearly needs a hobby.

In other words there has been no draft in almost 50 years. Thanks but I already knew that.

But the need to be ready to draft is not any less.

Did not think it would need explaining. Fathers are protective of daughters. Drafting them for combat is unnatural.

Hell yeah, I would flip out if my daughter was drafted. My son, I would kick him out the door and tell him to do his duty and make his country proud.

The Soviet drafted women during WW2 and those served with distinction in combat role. They drove tanks, they manned artillery pieces, they rushed the enemy lines in the infantry, they piloted planes and they were terrific snipers.

Israel also use women in fighting roles and you can’t say they’re ineffective considering they’ve pretty much won every wars they’ve been in.

Why do women want to be men anyway?
