Could an accident have caused COVID-19? Why the Wuhan lab-leak theory shouldn't be dismissed

This is written by an investigative reporter with experience in lab leaks. It's very interesting, albeit scary.

I can't believe it's been over a year and we still don't know how or where this happened. I don't want to jump on the conspiracy theory bandwagon and say it was released deliberately but I do find it bizarre that we are no closer to the source.

    What do you think?

    Again and again ...

In the realm of probability everything is possible. So it's useless to discuss.

What's more relevant is that Chinese authorities haven't stopped it there.
It's not about when ... there are traces of SARS-Cov-2 in Europe already in October 2019.
the point is how that virus was able to leave China.

I hear that in China there is who sustains that the virus didn't originate in China.
Ok, good try. Unfortunately for them the geographical center of the first outbreak is where a pandemic originates.
Regardless the real origin. It's the first outbreak to be contained to avoid a global pandemic: Chinese authorities weren't able to contain that outbreak. And the rest is already history.

There are only two ways about it. Either it was released from a lab on purpose, or by accident.

    First let's get all facts.
China is a non democratic country without free press. Anyone, journalist, scientist or any Chinese citizen who will say anything what contradict the official government propaganda risks a jail. In the beginning of the pandemic few doctors were jailed because they dared to say "pandemic".
And now let's ask the question: would you trust the investigation with was controlled by China, over an event from over one year ago?

China investigating themselves over COVID is like the police investigating themselves over a shooting....

I think it was PBS that did a documentary about this a while back. It pushed the idea that the rules for sanitation were not being followed at the place where it's supposed to have originated. That info was leaked by a doctor, and I think he later died from contact. The Chinese government clamped down on information he and some other doctors were releasing about a possible spread.

One thing that stood out was that in the beginning, governments all over were downplaying it. Even the WHO tried to control information because they were all afraid of public panic.

Mercola.com just published an article stating that the most likely scenario is that it leaked from the Wuhan lab:
    **
Jamie Metzl Questions the Origins of COVID-19

    STORY AT-A-GLANCE
    • Jamie Metzl believes the COVID-19 pandemic was a “totally preventable event” and is calling for a full and unrestricted international forensic investigation into the origins of COVID-19
    • He believes the most likely scenario is that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, accidently leaked from a laboratory in Wuhan, China

Do you really think that it's not known? We'll never be given the truth but instead, will be considering lock-down 12 dot oh because lock-downs 1 through 11 didn't work. It's about distracting the public because if we were not distracted, and pitted against one another, we'd ask the basic questions like............how and where did this actually begin?

The trouble with your hypothesis is that with the luxury of hindsight we know many facts and details and evidence that this was planned. The hypothesis fails. This was a planned event.

Those refusing to examine the work of Dr. David E. Martin have no wiggle room. They can rationalize until they are blue in the face, but they have no wiggle room.

The public records of the US Patent Office clearly show prior knowledge of what we have today. A person refusing to examine those facts is simply in denial, and cannot be taken seriously in any rational public dialogue.

Not at all ... SARS-Cov-2 could be a natural evolution [a chain of variants] of SARS-Cov-1. At the end it's a betacoronavirus [sub-gender serbacovirus].

Accident or not there's no doubt the virus came from Wuhan. Even Dr. Fauci and his group of Trump haters agree to that.

We've always known. The real troubling part is the US Taxpayer funding China's biological weapons research. Just what in the hell was Fauci thinking? We very likely will see 4 million dead by the end of the year.

SUPERB COVID ORIGINS READING LIST: Compiled by U.S. Right to Know, this list of credible analyses, news reports and studies on the origins of the Covid-19 virus is continually updated. The evidence is becoming undeniable that the open-air meat market near the Wuhan lab had little or nothing to do with the spread of the disease from China to the entire world.

Why so defensive and combative? It's a scientific question, not a ******ned political issue.

When people ask me why I care if the virus came from Wuhan, China I like to ask them where did it come from if not Wuhan? And why do you care if people know where it came from?

I thought that we, at least, knew (or believed) that there is a very similar virus in bats, whose range includes that part of China. So it's only a question as to whether the necessary mutation for this virus to infect humans occurred naturally, corresponding with a biting incident, or whether it was first extracted from the bats & then artificially mutated, manipulated in the lab, right?

For the sake of argument, if it were being played with by Chinese scientists, what would have been their possible intentions: to create a pandemic, for which they had already developed a vaccine? And then what? Save it for potential, future military use? This bug would not have been great for that purpose (then again, the camping lights I've bought at Walmart, made in China, have not served their purpose very well, either).

Or would China have conceived of doing something like this, just in order to make money, selling vaccines? Maybe they would have assumed that it would take the world at least 18-24 mos. to develop a vaccine, for example, so they could reveal theirs after 12 mos., & corner the market? But even 12 mos. would insure that, no matter where the 1st case started, it would get back to China prior to then, right? China's not still trying to shrink it's population, is it?

I think you know I could go on, in this vein, quite a bit longer. But let me bring things back to the main point of your link: the importance of discovering the pandemic's source. If it was a naturally occurring jump from animal to human, which do sometimes occur, the Chinese government could theoretically ask the people of Wuhan, if any had interacted with bats, during the designated time frame, and then proceed with tests on those who responded (which would probably not yield definitive proof, but would at least seem to support that thesis). But it must be wondered, first, if patient zero had, perhaps, not survived, in order to report their encounter. Secondly, if they had, one must consider the real possibility that person might fear coming forward, not knowing what treatment was awaiting them. So, it's very possible, if we haven't found the pandemic's origin, by now, that we never actually will.

Again, why are you being combative about it? Again, it is a scientific question, not a political issue, where the virus is from.

Back when all this first hit the scene I couldn't figure out why any country would want to do business with China. At that time, there were all kinds of questions and theories banded about them.

    1. Deliberately created it but it mistakenly escaped the lab.

    2. Natural occurence that was being studied when it escaped the lab.

    3. Deliberate development that was deliberately released.

To my way of thinking, at that time, any of those should have lead to an immediate moratorium on any kind of business related to the virus and its mitigation with the Chinese. While I understand why that may appear to be racist and xenophobic (which is probably why it wasn't done), the approach would have allowed us to have some distance between the outbreak and our response to it without the added burden of possibly importing infected masks and/or PPE equipment. Accidentally or intentionally causing this pandemic forces the question.

Many of us are feeling the effects of the shut down. We can quantify the direct and indirect losses to the economy but it's more than that. Much, much more. Some people have lost their jobs or had them downsized considerably, many are on the brink of homelessness or already pushed out, teenagers are committing suicide because of the lack of socialization, senior citizens are experiencing all kinds of emotional health problems.

Just this morning, a case manager from my insurance company called to offer me a free service for mail-order prescriptions. She explained that this came to fruition because many people were not picking up their medications and ending up in the hospital. Here we are more than a year later and people are STILL struggling with managing their daily lives due to this pandemic. That's just not right.

With all that said, at the end of the day, we probably will never have a concrete answer on this question. Or worse, authorities know the real answer and it's being quashed for whatever reasons they have. Either way, the human costs in all this is going to ripple for generations.

Have you watched the Joe Rogan interview, linked at Phoenyx's post? The interviewee explains why the bat-theory, I had just parroted, is very unlikely; same w/ the live, "wet" market theory. He makes a STRONG case for it coming from the lab in Wuhan, he believes by accident (#1 on your list of possibilities), & explains why they had been working with Coronaviruses. Lastly, not only is Mr. Metzl credible, but he is one of a whole group of scientist signatories to a letter, laying out this case for investigating the lab. Definitely worth the time to watch it.
